My Basset Hound, Bentley suffers from allergies. He loves stretching out in the grass and catching some sun rays. Unfortunately, when he does this, it makes him itch like crazy. On more than one occasion I have been awakened at night by his scratching. That disturbs his rest and mine. Sleep is one of a Basset Hound’s favorite hobbies so waking up due to itching is a major problem. He has even scratched some of the hair off his sides! I am not a fan of using chemicals on him so when I began reading about the benefits of Therabis™ Cannabinoids or CBD supplements for dogs, I was extremely interested in how hemp could provide Bentley some much needed relief.
What is Cannabidiol or CBD?
CBD is a chemical compound that occurs naturally in hemp. Cannabidiol interacts with your pet’s central regulatory system that affects bodily processes like digestion, mood, and sleep. The uses of hemp-derived products are backed by 25 years of veterinary expertise. Hemp wellness products can help alleviate your dog’s itching, anxiety, and joint mobility without the dangerous side effects of man-made chemicals. That is something we can all appreciate.
What is Hemp?
It is a common misconception that hemp is simply another name for marijuana. The fact is that marijuana and hemp are two completely different plants. Hemp has been used for the last 12,000 years for fiber and food. Its use includes industrial applications such as fiber, paper, and nutrition. Hemp contains less than .3% THC by law so neither people nor dogs experience a high when they consume hemp-derived products.
Let’s Take a Look at Therabis
This awesome brand of CBDs has been developed and refined for over 10 years by renowned veterinarian Dr. Stephen M. Katz. Therabis makes three different formulas of hemp—based CBD supplements. You can choose from Up and Moving to help with arthritis and hip dysplasia pain, Calm and Quiet is formulated to relieve stress levels, and Stop the Itch which is the one I chose for Bentley, does exactly what the name implies…it stops the itch.
Therabis Stop the Itch is a total solution for skin issues. The natural cannabinoids from hemp soothe a dog’s itchy skin. Dr. Katz has combined these cannabinoids with bromelain from pineapples and quercetin to protect cells from oxidative stress which helps ease the incessant itching and scratching. It actually helps promote healthy skin.
You will find Therabis very easy to use. It comes in single serving sachets so you can sprinkle it directly onto your dog’s food. You order Therabis according to your dog’s weight from small (up to 20 lbs.), medium (21 – 59 lbs.), and large (60 lbs. and up).Available in 5 or 30 count packs, you can find Therabis at these stores or at Therabis online.
It took about three days for Bentley's itching to completely disappear but his constant scratching subsided within a couple of hours. He loves the taste and I love the fact that his itching has subsided with regular use of the Stop the Itch formula. It is now a part of our daily supplements.

Fetch Relief For Your Dog's Itching #GrabTheLeash
We all know our dogs scratch but when the scratching becomes out of control, it is time to take action. Your best friend could have allergies or hot spots which make them itch. When your dog’s itching becomes a problem, what is a pet parent to do?

ReplyDeleteThey have three formulas so I'm thinking the Calm and Quiet might keep you off the Pad O' Shame more often. BOL!
DeleteThankfully, none of us have allergies, but we have heard good things about Therabis!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing!
DeleteLooks like a great product!
ReplyDeleteI love that it worked so quickly and that it is all-natural ♥
DeleteWow - this sounds like wonderful stuff! Great review!
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend it to anyone who has an itchy dog!
DeleteWe have escaped allergies, but good to know this
ReplyDeletePierre doesn't have any allergies either but he could use the Calm and Quiet during squirrel time! BOL!
DeleteBentley Bentley Bentley...OMCS mom told me once years and years ago my sis and her friends insisted in rolling down a grass hill in spite of mom bellowing several "DO NOT do that you will itch all night" warnings. Good buddy you know what happened sis was up all night itching and scratching and sneezing. As was Nurse mom. Thank goodness you mom found a remedy
ReplyDeleteHugs madi your bfff
I am the exact same way when I get into the grass. Back in the day when I was young I loved rolling down hills even though it meant lots of scratching! It is impossible to keep Bentley from enjoying his sunshine.
DeleteGreat Post!! You did a Wonderful job explaining the facts about CBD and dispelling the myth that it's marijuana. I'm so glad Bentley was able to get relief from his itching so quickly! What a great find.
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Thank you, Cathy. ♥ I can't tell you how excited I was to find something to stop his incessant scratching.
DeleteI need to try some of this for Nelly! She is just like Bentley, loves to roll in the grass, but then itches afterwards!
ReplyDeleteI have tried to explain that rolling in the grass makes him itch but he just ignores me! You really should try some for Nelly. It worked like magic for us. I would wake up at 5:30 a.m. to his scratching like a madman!
DeleteYa-mon. 😊 Seriously, so happy CBD is helping sweet Bentley. Elsa's vet recommended CBD oil to help with her anti-seizure meds. It's a pawsome additive and we're hoping we can reduce the dosage of phenobarb eventually to minimize the impact on her liver function. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI hope it works well for Elsa. Natural products are so much better for them if they do their job.
DeleteWe met someone recently who was getting off the plane with their Frenchie. As a relaxant, the used a drop of oil under his tongue. They said he was relaxed and no problems

That's awesome! I'm thinking about the Calm and Quiet for thunderstorms.
DeleteIf it stops the itching, it's got to be great. We're lucky, we don't have itchies.
ReplyDeleteYou are very lucky. Itching is no fun at all. ☺
DeleteWe are very interested in CBD for joint help and calming, but I didn't even know it was good for allergies too. I'm so glad you've found something that is helping Bentley!
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
This works better than anything that we have tried and I love that it is natural. ♥
DeleteWe're glad this worked for Bentley. We've been hearing lots of good things about CBD...even for cats.
ReplyDeleteI had also heard great things about CBDs so I was very anxious to try it. Wow! It worked so much better than I'd even dreamed.
DeleteGreat review. I will remember this for people who ask about itching for their dog. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will continue to sing its praises!
Deletesounds like great stuff!
