came upon an injured fox as she was walking. The poor fox was certain that it had taken its last breath but the lioness was not aggressive. Perhaps she knew that they all lived in Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve and were protected or her motherly instinct kicked in. When a lion came along and began circling the young fox, it was not looking good. That is when another lioness approached with her cubs tagging along behind her. The first lioness began to growl and swat her claws at the lion. He must have decided the little fox was not worth making the lionesses angry and decided to leave it alone. Once he was gone, the fox stayed with his protector until he could get on his feet. When he felt better, he trotted off into the brush.”

Our next story has been getting a ton of media coverage so we wanted to shed some light on it. There is a solar eclipse today across the United States. It will be visible in most areas provided there are no clouds to obstruct it. We have seen many reports about keeping your pets indoors during the eclipse so they don’t hurt their eyes. There really isn’t a lot of data concerning animals and the eclipse but most reports state that animals don’t normally look up to the sun so it is probably not a problem. We will be indoors during that time because it is during the hottest part of the day. It won’t hurt to keep your pets inside either.
Be sure that you have the proper eyewear before you look up too!”

Bentley: “Our last bit of news is the perfect lead-in to our sports report. This involves a kitten and the St. Louis Cardinals. As you might know, baseball players are a superstitious group so when a kitten darted out on the field right before the Cardinals’ catcher hit a grand slam, well, it seemed to be an omen. The scared kitty was captured and taken to the St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach where it will be kept until cleared for adoption. ‘Rally’ as the team has named it has had many inquiries for forever homes but the Cardinals are hoping it will become their team mascot and live at the stadium. There has been some back and forth between the shelter and the team so let’s hope they work out their differences for Rally’s sake.”
Pierre: “We are excited to have some sports to share with our readers this week. Our friend from the Idaho Pug Ranch, Mabel, is making quite a name for herself in the world of Obedience! She earned her title ribbon for Beginner Novice Obedience last week along with other award ribbons. We are expecting plenty more where that came from too. Mabel and her mom love participating in the obedience ring. A big BFTB congratulations them!
**We have an update on Mable! She captured her Rally Novice title with a first place score this weekend!
Remember if you have any sporting news to report, let us know so we can share your accomplishments with our readers. Let’s check in with Paisley for this week’s weather.
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a great day. As the boys reported, we will have a total eclipse of the sun today. I don’t believe clouds will block many people’s views. It looks like clear skies for most of the country.
We should have nice and sunny weather for most of the week across the northern and central states. The rainfall will be limited to a couple of days in most areas. The northeast can expect a few showers and the entire eastern coast will be mild with occasional rainstorms. Here in the south we will have rain beginning on Wednesday and temperatures in the upper 80’s. The southwest will have more temps in the triple digits. The west coast should continue to be nice.
As always, our weather can change abruptly so stay tuned to your local stations for any warnings or updates.”
Bentley: “It has really been a wet summer for most of the United States. We are usually hearing about droughts by now.
Mom was on The Groomer Next Door Podcast yesterday and we’d be honored if you listened to it. She had a really good time talking about dogs, cats, food and more.
Join us each day this week for great product reviews, fun photos and pet parenting tips. Stay up to date with all the Bayou happenings by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Have an awesome week and be sure to grab yourself some happy.”
