Pierre Westie: “We really got a
chuckle out of our top story. A family looked in their backyard and saw a bear
cub. That was shocking but when the mama bear lumbered in behind her baby, they
weren’t sure what was about to happen. The cub was only interested in one thing…the
family’s inflatable pink flamingo pool toy! They watched as the little fellow
wrestled with the oversized floatie until the mama bear got tired of her child’s
antics. When she left, the cub quickly followed her but he took the flamingo
with him!”
Bentley: “I guess all moms
struggle with their toddler’s mischief.
We
love a sweet cat story and this one is hot off the presses with an emphasis on
hot. A ginger kitty showed up at a firehouse in Greenville, South Carolina and
the chief couldn’t resist its cuteness. The entire group of firefighters
quickly fell in love with the little ball of fur. Dubbed Blaze, he makes
himself at home and has become the station’s official mascot. He even has a
tiny helmet to wear. Blaze is always waiting to comfort the crew after they
have been out battling fires. He is definitely the perfect match for the
Belmont Fire House.”

Pierre: “We often report on a
pet alerting its family to dangerous situations. It has happened again in Australia.
A nine-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier named Leala accompanied her family everywhere
so when they went to visit friends in a nearby community, she tagged along. The
family was inside talking when Leala rushed inside dripping wet and barking
frantically. Knowing the was not like her, they jumped up and followed as she
led them to a dam.
That is when they saw their two-year-old son face down in
the water. They got him out and began performing CPR on him until the paramedics
arrived. The initial prognosis was grim but we are happy to report the child
has made a full recovery. Way to be awesome, Leala.”
Bentley: “An Emory University neuroscientist
has proven what pet parents already knew…dogs love you! This study used an MRI
machine to scan the brains of 90 dogs to see what they were thinking. They were
able to determine the prefrontal lobe activity of a dog is much like that of a
human. That means dogs use the same part of their brain to solve problems that you do. They gave the dogs praise and hot dogs at different times to compare the
neurological responses.
They
discovered dogs loved both food and praise but 20% of them preferred praise.
Dogs can also recognize faces. From this experiment they concluded that
many dogs prefer praise over food and know their people when they see them. To
this I can only say, DUH!?!
Let’s
turn it over to the most recognizable Weather Lab on the Bayou. How about it,
Paisley?”
Paisley the Weather
Lab: “Greetings
y’all! It is feeling a bit more like autumn this week and we actually have some
snowfall in the Rockies! The northern states can expect some rain as the cooler
weather arrives. The northeast corner of the country will be fair and mild but
the east coast will continue to be rather warm. Florida will get some isolated
storms. Scattered storms will make their way across the southern states. The
southwest will still be hot and sunny but those of you on the west coast can
expect milder temperatures and sunshine. The plains are going to be cool while
the center of the U.S. will have some midweek storms rumble through.
As
always, stay tuned for any weather updates and warnings from your local
stations. I hope that your week is sensational!”
Bentley:
“We are ready for some crisp cool mornings here, for sure!

Don’t
