BFTB NETWoof News October 23, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of October 23, 2017. We have fetched some fun stories to start your day. Let’s check with my co-anchor Pierre for our top story.”

Pierre the Westie: “It takes a lot of dedication to become a CIA bomb-sniffing K9. Lulu, a black Labrador Retriever,
decided that it was not something she really wanted to do with her life. It doesn’t happen often, but no matter how many ways they tried to interest her, Lulu simply didn't want to particpate. Dismissing a dog from the program is never an easy decision. Luckily, the trainer offered to give the CIA dropout a forever home where the only thing she has to sniff out is fun!”

Bentley: “I wouldn’t want to be sniffing bombs either. It doesn’t seem like a safe way to make a living. This next story is right up our alley though.
A recent study at the Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary shows that when dogs nap after being taught a new trick, they retain the information better. They used an EEG to measure the brain activity and discovered dogs and humans have a similar way of learning while they sleep. The study is very interesting, and you can read more about it by clicking the link for this story in our News Sources.

Pierre: “I think that you can see from that photo of me that I am always trying to learn something. *wink-wink
We all know that cats are mysterious creatures, but you’d think the owners of the most famous cat at the Hyndland station in Glasgow, Scotland would know how many people knew him! The cat who is nicknamed Kyle by his fans meets riders on the train each morning. After rubbing legs and picking up a few tasty handouts, he heads over to the local hospital to visit the nurses! His family only recently discovered their kitty’s ‘other life’ and that he is going to not only one but two different jobs when he leaves the house each morning! Actually, three if you count his new charity calendar for next year.”

Bentley: The Wedding Crashers is a movie that always makes me laugh. For one lucky dog, crashing a wedding to get out of the rain turned out to be his own happily ever after. The couple’s special outdoor wedding was moved indoors as the showers began. That is when a stray walked in and laid down on the train of the bride’s long wedding dress.
After the rain passed, the dog went back out into the streets. The newlyweds tracked down their wedding crasher and ‘Snoop’ is now starting married life with them. We wish the three all our best.
Speaking of our best…how’s the best Weather Lab on the Bayou?”
Paisley the Weather Lab with the BFTB NETWoof Weather for the United States
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Hey y’all! I’m doing great and loving this second week of cooler temperatures. I hope everyone can get out and enjoy the cool mornings or evenings for a little while.
Let’s take a look at the map. In the Pacific Northwest, it will be mostly sunny. Along the rest of the west coast, you can expect sunny days and warm temps. There could be some record-breaking heat in southern California. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks if you are working outdoors.
It will change from warm to cool across the southern region which means a light jacket could be a good idea. Showers are in the forecast for the east coast and even some snow is possible in the Appalachians. A heavier coat is in order there and you’ll need raincoat in the northeast. If you are in the northern regions, it will be cloudy and mild. Should you be in the center of our country, relax and enjoy your warm to cooling weather under fair skies. Oh my, that sounds lovely.
As I always say, weather can change quickly so always keep an eye to the sky and an ear to your local weather stations. Have a great week and don’t be afraid to dance in the rain!”
