A Puppy Cake Mix Review

I purchased this Puppy Cake kit for Bentley's birthday. This review is our own opinions and does  contain affiliate links. If you order from these Amazon links, I will receive a small commission with no effect on your price.
Bentley: “As we continue with coverage of my birthday, I want to shine a spotlight on one of the most important elements. The birthday cake. It just howls party! Mom usually makes us pupcakes or cookies for our birthdays but this year she went with a ready mix. She bought the kit on Amazon which included a silicone bone-shaped pan, the mix, the icing and candles.

I wasn’t trying to seem skeptical, but this boy loves his mama’s cooking. Could a boxed mix have that same loving taste? My nose decided that it was possible. Who can resist peanut butter? This mix is wheat-free and contains rice flour, cane sugar, peanut flour, baking powder and salt.
Mom added an egg, 2/3 cup of water and 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil to the mix. She stirred it until the batter was smooth. It seemed about 87 hours, but she insisted it was only a couple of minutes.

This was the first time that she has used a silicone pan to bake a cake. It had to be sprayed with a vegetable oil and I watched her pour the batter into the bone pan. She took my suggestion to put it on a baking sheet for added security. The instructions say you can microwave the cake, but Mom is old-school we decided on the oven.
Since it was my birthday, I got to lick the bowl and Pierre licked the spoon. We both agreed that this cake was going to be epic!
My cake was a golden brown and smelling delicious twenty hours minutes later. Waiting for the cake to cool was sheer torture! Finally, it was time to mix the icing. Finding a good icing has always been a problem. This mix included icing, so we were very happy. The directions call for 2 Tbsp. of water (more if needed) and mix until smooth. We added extra water, but it still dries very fast.  The icing contains tapioca starch and dehydrated yogurt.
Wow! Look at all of those candles. Why does Pierre have the fire extinguisher? My cake smells sooo good. I'll have to decide if Chuckles the Westie is going to get a piece.
Let me taste it! Yes ma’am, this is a very tasty cake and we recommend it for your next party. I'm going to need to try a bigger piece to be sure. Don't worry, I gave Pierre some too. He loved it. Mom put mine in the fridge where it can stay fresh for up to five days. That’s funny, like it will last five days around the two of us!”
*You can order the cake and icing mix for $7.99 on Amazon. That is pricey for a cake mix but not bad when you price ready-made cookies or cakes for dogs. I was really pleased with the kit and glad that I spent the $21.95 on it. The pan will be used a lot.
We still have our 4Gifts for Pets Giveaway going on too. You can find today’s Bonus Word on my Twitter and Facebook.

  3. We love those cake mixes. Bailie and I both had different ones for our birthdays, but we used pans we already had. I'm not a peanut butter lover, so I had the pumpkin one and it was super tasty! Glad you enjoyed your cake!

  13. We have tried some of their mixes. I was really surprised to find they seem to have pretty healthy ingredients! Sometimes we just have to go with something that is a bit easier, and the dogs sure don't seem to mind!
