Oh
bushy-tailed squirrel up in our tree
You
try to sneak from branch to trunk
Get
on the ground you furry punk.
As
we celebrate a day meant for hugs
And
feign appreciation at your squirrely mugs
I
must admit enjoying when we chase like the breeze
So
you really deserve a Westie squeeze…
Around
your neck with my tiny paws.

1. I
have never been able to resist chips and hot sauce.
2. I
wish I could still jog but my knees don’t think it’s a good idea.
3. Watching
a movie snuggled up on the couch with Skipper and the boys is my ideal winter
night.
4. Coffee and donuts.

that is a super poem... I never saw a squirrel, but maybe if I say your poem next to a tree one of that tasty snacks will appear?
ReplyDeleteSquirrels are very vain creatures and if you compliment, they will appear BOL!
DeleteSquirrel Appreciation Day will never happen here. Darn tree rats but I love your poem, Pierre! Chips and hot sauce is making mom think nachos and boy, does she ever love nachos!
ReplyDeletePierre is hoping to hug at least one squirrel this weekend.
DeleteIt is a lot of nerve dedicating a day to tree rats. I'll be sharing my opinion on Monday. Grrr... Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe thought it was pretty ironic that Hug Day & Squirrel Day coincided! BOL!
DeletePierre that poem is hilarious...absolutely!! We loved: Get on the ground you furry punk.
ReplyDeleteHugs from furry Madi
That was my favorite line too. I don't think the squirrels appreciated it because none of them have come down the tree for a hug. Sigh...
DeleteYup! I appreciate squirrels … in my dinner bowl!
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!! Dogs are very welcoming to tree rats.
DeleteWhat a great poem, we would like to hug some squirrels around here too.
ReplyDeletePierre's poetry always comes from his heart and usually include taking out a squirrel or two. BOL!
DeleteThat's one pawfect poem, in rhyme and sentiment. 🐿
ReplyDeleteThat you so much. I should write a squirrel poetry book for puppies to read at bedtime. Your Poet Pal, Pierre
DeleteWas that 'around your neck with my tiny paws' meant to be jaws? Love the poem. We don't have squirrels, but we think we'd like to hug them, too.
ReplyDeleteSquirrels are perfect for chasing but they bark back and throw acorns at us. LOL!
DeletePawfect poem Pierre!
ReplyDeletehugs
Hazel & Mabel
Thanks so much! I hope it lures some squirrels into my yard.
DeleteCoffee and donuts! Yes, please.... Great poem, P. I have a feeling Hugging Day is not meant for neck "hugs." *gulp*
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
Thanks so much! Mom loves Southern Maid Donuts. It is a local chain but the only place Elvis ever did a commercial for and they are fantastic!
DeleteHmmm....so you've gotten the mole, but not the squirrel yet, huh, Pierre? ;)
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
I have actually caught several squirrels but they are stupid fast at climbing trees. BOL!
DeletePierre, we'd bet you love to "hug" a squirrel. Great poem!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love to write prose about our tree rats.
DeleteI love your poem :) And thanks to your mom for completing the fill-ins, great answers. Coffee and donuts do go well together and so do chips and hot sauce :) Have a nice weekend! XO
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love donuts and coffee but will seriously eat chips and hot sauce until I can't breath. LOL!
DeleteWhat a wonderful photo!!!
ReplyDeleteMy niece introduced me to Ebates and I had a blast (and made some $) this holiday season!
Oh, and PS - I looove chips!
Thanks! My daughter-in-law introduced me to Ebates and I LOVE saving money and getting refund checks. Chips and hot sauce are my weakness.
DeleteGreat poem I hope you got to hug a squirrel.
