Pierre Westie: “I am considering
pleading the fifth amendment if I am brought in for questioning in the untimely
death of this vermin. It is a mole and while I know all critters deserve to
live a long and healthy life, they are not welcome to make themselves at home
in my backyard. I am sure that you’ve heard the old saying about making
mountains out of mole hills. Well, there is a reason for that. One mole can dig 150 feet in a day. These tiny
little insectivores can destroy your backyard in no time! They dig tunnels right
below ground level and it drives me crazy. I can hear them down there munching
on grubs, worms, beetles and other gross things.
Anyway,
Bentley and I were outside doing our perimeter search when I heard THE MOLE! I
tilted my head to zero in on its exact location then bingo. My paws were digging
at lightning speed. It wasn’t long before I was able to stick my head in the
tunnel and voila…the mole was mine. Mom refused to have my quarry mounted for display over the fireplace. I’m kinda bummed about that but at least I have a
photo of the big hunt. Please ignore the mess I made in my pursuit to make our backyard a beautiful and safe place.

wow you got the mole-ster BRAVO!!! I'm not the big hunter by now but I'll try ....
ReplyDeleteThis little mole has been tearing up our yard for weeks now!
DeleteChloe can relate to this!!! She actually caught a chippie!! Of course, I was standing right next to her when this occurred, so the poor, scared little critter was able to get away ALIVE because I insisted she "DROP" the poor thing! Chloe was so proud! So, I can imagine Pierre was too!
ReplyDeletePierre left the corpse next to its hole. He didn't want to eat it, just kill it.
DeleteGreat job, Pierre! Bummer that your mole can't be proudly displayed over the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteSome moms have no sense of classy décor! LOL!
DeleteMom wishes we would capture a mole, but no, we go for the wabbits and yesterday was a really nasty murder. Mom is still trying to get over how it went down. My sisters' first kill was not a nice one.
ReplyDeleteWe are still trying to find out why the cuteness of the intruder matters. It bothers Mom lots more when we kill a bunny then one of the more uglier creatures.
DeleteWe have only had one rabbit in our yard and it hightailed after it caught sight of the Bayou Boys. I don't know why cuteness counts. LOL!
DeleteThey can dig 150 feet in a day, oh my gosh! You were just protecting your backyard!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that nuts? They can destroy my garden in no time at all!
DeleteOur efforts have been less than appreciated as well. Mom says it could have something to do with parading said critters around the yard with out body parts attached or something and it grosses her out.
ReplyDeleteI can't understand how anyone can not enjoy a decapitated critter parade! Hahaha!
DeleteWow, that's great work there Pierre.....errrr....am I allowed to say that if you've taken the 5th?????
ReplyDeleteLoves and licky kisses
Princess Leah xxx
I will admit to asking the mole to evacuate but think it must have had a heart attack or something...
DeleteGood job, Pierre! We hope you got extra treats for all the hard work you did.
ReplyDeleteI did get a treat for leaving the mole alone like a good boy.
DeleteWow! Congratulations on catching that mole! I have never seen a mole in my yard, but have seen and caught several mousies and shrews. It's out sworn doggie duty to keep our territory free of such rodents.
ReplyDeleteWe only have moles and squirrels in our yard. It is important to keep critters on our toes.
DeleteYour the man!!! Come to my house next!
ReplyDeleteWe will dig up moles and play with your future puppies!
DeleteVery impressive for a little dog. You really should have your trophy mounted and hung on a wall.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it look great?!? I am fast and furious when it comes to exterminating moles!
DeleteBe careful. Those moles love to bite your tongue which not only hurts but can cause a lot of swelling & stink.
ReplyDeleteI seen it happen to a cat, nasty drool & stink made it impossible for me to even nose nudge. HuMom took care of it.
Don’t get me wrong my furiend, I would have had to go at it too if it were me😉🐾
Nose nudges,
CEO Olivia
Wow! Mom obviously didn't know they could bite my tongue. She is not going to let me dig for them anymore.
DeleteThe Mighty Hunter has such a cute face!
ReplyDeleteHe is an angel with a dirty face! BOL! BOL!
DeletePierre, we're so proud of you ! Well done ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I am very proud of myself.
DeleteOh Pierre, mighty mole hunter...you probably wouldn't want that mole mounted over the fire place anyway. One less thing to dust. Congrats on bagging that little varmint. Well done, buddy.
ReplyDeleteWe do hate to dust so you have a great point.
Deletewell done, Pierre!!! You are a badass!!!
ReplyDeleteI will be looking for a black leather jacket to wear. Do they make Harley's in a Westie size?
DeleteWe are so IMPRESSED! You actually had to locate and dig to get your quarry! You are a legend. We don't have moles....sigh
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much! That is sweet and I am super duper proud!!
DeleteGreat job, Pierre!! Neither of our dogs are mole hunters, but our chickens are! LOL
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
Wow! Have they caught a mole yet?? That is very impressive.
DeletePierre you are doing what you were made to do. Do it w/o guilt and with gusto...family first..Hugs madi your bfff
ReplyDeleteI knew that you would understand Madi! XXOO
DeleteBravo Pierre!!! We have a lot of trouble with those creatures. Mice and voles dig holes and paths through our yard especially this time of year. They go under the snow! We would love to have you come and dead ours
ReplyDeletehugs
Hazel & Mabel
They have been ravaging our yard so Mom and Dad were glad that I got one of them. They simply make a mess in the yard.
DeleteFeel free to visit us this Spring, you can hunt all the moles you want :)
ReplyDeleteDon't tempt me! I do love a mole challenge.
DeleteAs it was not trophy hinting we fully support your catch!
ReplyDeleteWe only hunt to protect our family and our home/yard. This little mole was ruining gardens and our yard.
DeletePierre, you did a good job protecting your yard!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I am a yard guard dog. BOL!
DeleteWay to go Mighty Mole hunter! I love all creatures, too, but those guys can stay far away from my garden. -
