BFTB NETWoof News June 25, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of June 25, 2018. We’d like to thank everyone for selecting our news as one of your favorite things we do here on the Bayou. I am happy to say that there was a lot of good news to choose from so let’s get to our top story. Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “When we think of hero dogs, the first picture that usually comes to mind is a larger breed dog like Lassie. The truth is, heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Take Fat Heath, a Yorkshire Terrier in Missouri who followed his three-year-old human sister into the enormous cornfield next to their home.
The toddler’s disappearance set off a massive search that included nearly 100 people and two helicopters. After twelve hours, the girl’s uncle found her asleep among the corn with Fat Heath right by her side. The duo had walked over half a mile from home. The little girl and her hero Yorkie are both doing fine.
Way to be awesome, Fat Heath!”

Bentley: “He gives a whole new meaning to the word corndog! It just goes to prove that big things come in small packages.
Let me begin this next story by saying that we think all dogs and cats are beautiful. That still doesn’t stop the annual World’s Ugliest Dog competition at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in California. This year’s adorable winner is a 9-year-old English bulldog named Zsa Zsa.
Zsa Zsa spent the first five years of her life as a puppy mill breeding machine. When she could no longer have puppies, they put her in a dog auction. I know, right? Luckily, she was purchased by Underdog Rescue where her mom saw her and immediately fell in love.
In addition to her title and trophy, Zsa Zsa fetches $1,500 in prize money. We hope that she is getting spoiled by all the media attention. She certainly deserves it.”

This is not Harry but our Mom's cat Opie. (R.I.P.)
Pierre: “It is always great to bring you a reunion story and in most cases, they are reunited because the dog or cat has been microchipped. That is what happened when Harry, a big orange cat was turned into a shelter in the U.K. after its elderly owner passed away. As usual, the staff ran a scan for a microchip and it turned up the name of Harry’s original owner.
The man had purchased Harry and his brother as kittens, but Harry had disappeared ten years ago! Those of us who have lost a pet know how difficult it is to stop hoping for a miracle. That is why whenever he moved, he updated the information on both cats’ microchips. Needless to say, he was stunned to receive the call that his kitty was found. Harry is currently living with the man’s mother because they don’t think the brother would be overjoyed to see his long-lost sibling.
Let’s use this as a reminder that getting a microchip is important but keeping it updated is crucial to being reunited with your pet.
We also want to update you on Chubbs, the 29-pound cat we reported on last week. He has been adopted and will be losing weight in his loving forever home!”
Bentley: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Koko the gorilla has passed away in her sleep at the age of 46.  She was famous for learning over 1,000 hand signs and could understand 2,000 words of English. We enjoyed seeing her mastery of skills and her tender love of others. She was truly an amazing animal and a wonderful ambassador for gorillas worldwide.”
BFTB NETWoof Weather with Paisley the Weather Lab
Paisley the Weather Lab: “I wish more humans understood dog talk. It would sure make getting treats easier.
Speaking of easy, this week’s forecast is easy too. You are either going to be hot or wet depending on where you live. If you are in the northern or midwestern states, prepare for storms and scattered showers. Basically, anywhere else you are going to be sizzlin’ hot! The West Coast will be sunny, and the southern states will be toasty and humid. That means you are either going to need an umbrella or a swimming pool.
I hope whatever your weather is, that your week is fantastic! Always tune into your local weather for any updates or warnings.
Bentley: “After last week’s rain, we are happy to dry out and get some sun.
We want to wish our Uncle A a very special happy birthday! He is our mom’s older brother and one of our biggest fans. Did I mention that he gives incredible belly rubs and hugs? Have a fantastic birthday, Uncle A!
Join us all week for more summer fun. We have some terrific treats to bark about and something new from PrideBites! We'd love for you to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Mom just discovered Instagram stories so we are having some laughs with those new 24 hour posts.
Have a wonderful week and be sure to grab yourself some happy."
