Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of September 10, 2018. We have fetched pawsome reports that will put a smile on your face. What’s our top story, Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “We are so excited to report that California is the first state to ban sales of beauty products tested on animals. The law will go into effect in January 2020. This includes products such as makeup, skincare, deodorants, and other healthcare products. We hope this becomes a nationwide ban. There is NO reason for companies to continue the barbaric practice of testing products on defenseless animals.”
Bentley: “Today a coalition of agencies will begin moving mountain goats from the Olympic National Park to the beautiful northern Cascade Mountains. The move is aimed at re-establishing the mountain goat population in the Cascades. The goats will be tranquilized and lifted with a sling via helicopter. The process will take two weeks and we are hoping all ‘goats’ well. Hee hee!
Pierre: “This story is one of the creepiest heists we’ve heard of in some time. It happened at the terrarium in Philadelphia's Insectarium. A group of former employees is accused of stealing over 7,000 rare insects, lizards, and spiders. Some of these are venomous. The culprits were caught on surveillance and police including the F.B.I. are hoping for an arrest. Taking care of these stolen critters is more than difficult so their survival depends on the capture of these thieves.”
Bentley: “If you are an apartment dweller, I’m sure you know how difficult it can be to find the perfect apartment that allows dogs. When we were thinking about renting an apartment, it was nearly impossible to find a place that would allow Pierre and me. I know that sounds crazy, but many places do not allow pets or have strict weight limits. That is why a new complex in Denmark is strictly for the dogs. You heard me right! Renters must have a dog to live there. The complex only has 18 units so you might need to hurry and pack! Does your apartment have limits on pets? Let us know in the comments.
Now let’s see what Paisley has in store for us this week in the weather.”
Paisley the Weather Lab: “We have some serious weather heading toward the East Coast this week. Tropical Storm Florence is expected to become a Category 4 Hurricane this week. There could be a major strike anywhere from South Carolina to the mid-Atlantic region. The National Weather Center is warning of dangerous rip currents in the Virginia Beach area and the Outer Banks. Dangerous beach conditions and coastal flooding warnings are in effect for parts of New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Please
stay tuned to your local weather stations for updates, warnings and any
evacuation plans. *See our “How
to Make a Pet First-Aid and Evacuation Kit” so you can be prepared.
The rest of the United States will have another hodge-podge of conditions. All across the southern states, we are going to have scattered storms. It will be hot in the southwest. The west coast will be nice and sunny with rain in Washington state. The northern states will be mild and sunny. The center of the country will be warm with some nice breezes.
Our thoughts are with everyone facing Florence and we hope she isn’t too nasty when she makes landfall.”
Bentley: “We will be keeping an eye on the east coast and praying everyone stays safe and sound.
Thank you for joining us for this week’s news. Join us all week as we introduce an amazing new food from Dr. Harvey’s, a delicious treat from Chewy and more fun than you can shake a stick at!
Have a great day and be sure to grab yourself some happy!”
