Pierre Westie: “Thanks! Our top
story is going to give you all the feels.
A
man drove his diesel from California to New York a total of 2,800 miles one way
to rescue a pit bull that was scheduled for euthanasia. He had been making a
routine delivery in California when his wife sent him the link to a dog that
looked like their dog, King, that they’d recently lost to cancer. Mario felt an
kinship with the dog. He said, “I couldn’t save King, but I can save a couple
in his honor.” That’s when he asked his boss to find him a delivery in New York
and he called the shelter and told them he was on his way and begged them not
to put the dog down.
When
he arrived and got to meet Hickory, the two made an instant connection. It was
like their souls had found each other. Hickory rode next to Mario back across
the country. He is now a member of their family giving hugs and licks to anyone
he meets.”
Bentley: “I love a happily
ever after story. Our next story is also about a dog traveling a long distance.
The difference is this dog was traveling by paw to the top of a 23,389 ft.
Himalayan peak!
A
stray dog named Mera joined a mountaineering expedition to the top of Baruntse
in Nepal without any assistance and was still running around at the summit!
It’s
not unusual for dogs to hang around the Everest Base Camp at 17,600 ft. and
follow climbers up to Camp II at 21,300 ft. Mera’s November climb might be the
highest recorded. They think she is a cross between a Tibetan mastiff and a
Himalayan sheepdog. The Sherpas leading
the climb could not believe what they were witnessing. Many thought she was special
and brought good luck to the group. She is now living with the expedition’s
base camp manager. No word on when her next climb will be but I’m thinking it
won’t be long.”
Pierre: “A recent study
published in the Journal of Research in Personality, researchers at Michigan
State University say if you are a couch potato, you’re most likely to have a
lazy dog. This same theory states if you are active and energetic, it’s more
likely that your dog will be perky too. People who are socially awkward usually
don’t have friendly pets and pessimistic owners have dogs who are fearful and
don’t respond well to being trained. The conclusion is your dog’s personality
reflects your own behavior traits. Of course, we are going to act like our
people. We are a pack! Seriously, who orders these studies?”
Bentley: “This last story is
one of those that had us all shaking our heads in disbelief. A woman visiting
the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium & Safari Park in Litchfield Park,
Arizona is being treated for injuries she sustained when a jaguar reached out
and attacked her arm. How could such a thing happen, you ask? The woman thought
it’d be a good idea to cross over the barrier to get a memorable selfie. Turns
out it was NOT a good idea but I’m sure she will remember trying to capture the
perfect selfie for a very long time.
Let’s
check in with Paisley for this week’s forecast. It’s spring break here in the
Houston area. Are we going to welcome spring like temperatures?”
Paisley the Weather
Lab: “That’s
a tricky one, Bentley. As usual, it depends on where you live. Here in Texas,
we will be stormy, but our temps will be warm. There is a chance of storms
across the Gulf coast region. Both the east and west coasts will be nice while
the center of the country will be breezy with some showers. The northern states
will still have cold temperatures and rain.
I
hope the weather where you are is perfect and if not, make it the very best
yucky weather day that you can! Always tune in for updates or warnings from
your local weather stations.”
Bentley: “That does it for
this week’s BFTB NETWoof news and would love you to share our link on social media.
We
have another busy week planned. Mom has started watching the grandbabies a
couple of days each week so there are times when you might not see her around but
we are always here on the Bayou. Have a terrific week and be sure to grab yourself some happy!"

wer are so happy for hickory... some people have a heart of gold and we wish we would have much much more of this peeps...
ReplyDeleteYay for Hickory and Mario! These hoomans and their phones and selfies. She lucky she wasn't killed!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!!
ReplyDeleteWe get so sad when humans do dumb things at zoos. Usually it means animals get killed, and it isn't even their own fault. That woman deserves what she got for trying to take a selfie and actually risking the life of the Jaguar.
ReplyDeletePeople seem to think all life is a Disney movie where the animals help us with our daily chores and pose for pictures with us.
ReplyDeletePierre and Bentley as far as I'm concerned your news is the ONLY news worth reading.
ReplyDeleteSTUPID woman in Arizona......just S T U P I D!!!
Hugs Cecilia
Wow! those are some great stories!
ReplyDeleteI heard about the man who drove across country for the dog, and the lady, the selfie, and her ouchie!
ReplyDeleteFantastic ending for Hickory - thanks to that nice man for saving him.
ReplyDeleteWe hope any human thinking about selfies with wild animals abides by the rules and stays on the right side of the barriers.
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We heard about the stupid lady and the jaguar. Some people!

BRAVO to that truck driver! What a FABulous story! Yeah, I heard the news abouts that woman and the Jaguar. I guess the bright spot is that after she was released from the hospital, she went back and apologized. at least there was that....
ReplyDeleteFABulous newscast again boyz!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
I absolutely love Hickory's rescue story! That brought a tear of joy to my face. And who couldn't be amazed (but for different reasons) at the Everest climbing pup and the dumb person wanting a selfie. Nothing surprises me anymore! Have a groovy spring break week! 💐
ReplyDeleteawe what a great story about the pup getting adopted in NY.
