Several companies have discontinued their blogger/influencer programs. BlogPaws, Chewy.com and PrideBites all provided opportunities for us to work on campaigns. BlogPaws went away last summer after their conference and I don't expect them to ever re-establish. At this time, PrideBites is re-vamping their program and I have no
idea if or when it will come back. Both of these companies provided us with the ability to earn money that is no longer there. While Chewy didn’t pay, they provided great
products for us to review and always helped us with contests, giveaways, or special
requests.
•
The opportunities for reviews and sponsored posts are few and far between. When we don’t have a variety of reviews, it takes away a lot
of material for posts.
•
There is major behind the scene work and updating that I need to do on our
site. It will take some time to update pages. I have started by deleting a
number of posts from years ago. I might be asking some of my Blogger friends
for help and advice.

The reason we moved to Texas last year was to be near and help with our grandchildren. I am blessed to
be able to keep them two/three days each week. While I might be able to
spend time on my laptop when I’m with them, our time together is precious. There
is nothing I’d rather do than sit on the floor and play with them. An “almost”
3-year-old and a 7-month-old keep me very busy, but I wouldn’t trade it for the
world. We are making priceless memories.
And
last but not least,

I just turned 60 and need to spend less time sitting at my desk staring at the
laptop. We (Skipper) has been fixing our bicycles and we are about to explore
the awesome trails in our area. It is time to get my health back on track and
to do that, I have to get my rear in gear!

we see it with sadness that blogging generally becomes "dated" somehow and so much companies place their two cents on "faster" medias like insta or fartbook... we understand you, to spend time with the little ones and with the boys is a super good and impawtant thing... and we have to find adventures furst to post about it later right?
ReplyDeleteNo way are we going away. We love your blog! Enjoy your time with your grandchildren and exploring the great outdoors!
ReplyDeleteWe understand. The whole scene has changed since about a year ago. Mom says it is more like blogging was when she first started and didn't know much of anything. We're here when you post.
ReplyDeleteThingys always changing and I am VERY pleased to hear you are not going away altogether and I can still catch up wiv Bentley and Pierre's adventures!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLoves and licky kisses

Love you guys. We aren't going away either. πΆππΆ
ReplyDeleteWe get it....we're re-thinking our posting schedule too.
ReplyDeleteWe understand. Have fun with the kids!
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry you had to cut back your blogging but understand. We will continue to follow you paws down.
ReplyDeleteChange is hard but I surely understand the need. Oh those precious grandbabies and memories are top priority as is getting out and about to exercise. Sending good wishes.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about blogpaws disappearing I did hear about the Chewy Influencer

Our grandchildren got big it seems like overnight so we get why it is important to enjoy those little years.
ReplyDeleteSpending time with your family is priceless, and we totally understand you ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteNo one at the office has noticed that it was my birthday last week, which is one nice outcome from taking the week off! And you are right; at 'our' age, it's time to live it up, not get tied down! Walk, ride, visit, explore, enjoy...that's the ticket!
ReplyDeleteWe completely understand, especially since we did the same thing last year. It's worked out well for me and I hope it does for you too. Playing with grandbabies and riding bicycles sounds like so much fun! Enjoy and we'll look forward to being here when you are. I especially look forward to seeing more of your new home state along with you!
ReplyDeleteIt really is sad how much things have changed with the companies and sponsored posts. It seems like affiliate marketing is becoming the new thing, and I for one am not too thrilled about that. I find it tough to make much money that way. I miss the big campaigns and opportunities BlogPaws provided us with.

We too were very disappointed about the Chewy program going away. And blogging takes time. We let Mom try to find a good balance. She has helped with the 6 grands here too. When four of them were younger, she had a 3 year old, infant twins, all siblings, AND another grand three months younger than the twins. She blogged then too, but boy, was she ever busy. Enjoy those little ones, they grow up fast. From ours, two are in high school, two in middle school, and two in elementary with the youngest now 10!!!

I think it is great you have the grandbabies often. They grow up so fast, enjoy them. XO
ReplyDeleteWe get it! We went to 3 days a week a few years ago and lately we have trouble doing that. We love our blogger friends and love visiting. Mabel and I are spending more time training and we have several grandkids involved in sports. We all have to find a balance that works
ReplyDeleteWe will always look forward to your posts

oh my friend I hear you!!!!! I cut back to 3 days per week (if I am lucky to even post then) on Cody's blog, and Dakota's, well...poor Dakota, as you know is hit or miss. I am with you, that PAID reviews are few and far between.......(I have thoughts as to why that is happening but will discuss them privately, not publicly).......and I agree with our pets becoming older and no reviews, blogging every day just becomes "filler". I cut down last year and love that I did. Also, you KNOW I understand the grandchildren issue. Even if I only have one, when I am with her, I am like you.....I do not turn on the computer and then the next day I am dreadfully behind. Now, I also have to be like you and GET MOVING! Lenny is off next week and I think we are going to be taking some nice long walks. I MUST get moving!!!! Glad to hear you will be living and loving life, that's the most important thing!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLife has to be lived if you want to have something to blog about and think about and talk about and get up in the morning for! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
We totally understand and 'appawld' you for wanting to spend quality time with your family. We all only get 24 hours a day and using it in the best way makes total sense. Enjoy creating a new life; we'll still be here living vicariously. π
ReplyDeleteI think it's a wonderful idea to scale back your posting - the most important reasons are more time with the Grandkids and spending more quality time w/ that wonderful hubby of yours! Good for you and your family!
