BFTB NETWoof News July 15, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of July 15, 2019. We have rounded up some great stories for you so let’s get started. Pierre, what’s our top story?”

Pierre Westie: “We decided to start our newscast off with a story that is for the birds.  Good Samaritans in England recently rescued what they believed was a rare exotic bird from the side of the road. They took it to the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital in hopes of saving the bright orange bird.
The vets weren’t sure of what they were dealing with at first but soon discovered it was a seagull that had somehow gotten covered in curry or turmeric. After a nice bath, the bird was returned to his natural color and is expected to be released back into the wild soon.”

Bentley: “An officer in Kilgore, Texas was recently sent on a call about an aggressive pit bull. He spotted the dog running along the road and opened the back door of his cruiser in hopes the dog would hop inside. That’s not exactly what happened. The dog jumped in the driver’s seat and when the officer tried to get him to get out, he became aggressive. The officer quickly closed the door and reported his situation. Animal control came to his rescue and discovered the dog in the driver’s seat with the air conditioner blowing on him and eating the officer’s beef jerky! We are happy to report the dog has been claimed and is back home.”

Pierre: “A couple set off for an early morning boat ride on Lake Michigan when they noticed something bobbing in the water. They took the boat closer and discovered it was a possum struggling to keep its head above the water. They tossed a red seat cushion toward the possum who seemed to understand and clung to the cushion as they brought it to the boat. The little creature stayed on the boat until it reached land. The last they saw of their soaked little friend it was scurrying off into the tall grass with quite a story to tell the other possums.”

Bentley: “There’s a cat in Oregon that is getting a very long rap sheet. Tigger has been dubbed a KlyptoKitty after bringing home something that it has stolen overnight. Tigger’s owner is usually not surprised by the socks, underwear, toys, gloves and any other thing that might strike his fancy. That changed one morning when Tigger showed up on the doorstep with a bag of marijuana! Oh, did I mention this little feline thief’s dad is a police officer?
Let’s check with Paisley for this week’s weather forecast. What happened to Hurricane Barry?”
BFTB NETWoof Weather Lab Paisley
Paisley the Weather Lab: “Thankfully, Barry didn’t stay a hurricane very long. It did bring a lot of rain to Louisiana and Mississippi but we definitely dodged a bullet on this storm. That doesn’t mean you should eat all of your hurricane snacks. We still have a lot of hurricane season left!
It is going to be stormy in the north and along the east coast. You can expect it to be hot even with the storms but don’t feel too bad. It is going to be even hotter in the west and the Gulf Coast region. Here in Texas, it is going to feel steamy hot with high humidity. The most important thing to remember is to stay hydrated. Both humans and animals must have fresh water throughout the day to maintain proper body functions.
Storms can pop up without much notice this time of year so please stay tuned to your local weather stations for any warnings or updates. Have a super week!”
Bentley: “We are limiting our time outside because of the high heat and humidity. It can be tough barking and keeping all of the neighbors in line this time of year.
