BFTB NETWoof News September 16, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of September 16, 2019. It is hard to believe how fast this year is flying past us. Let’s check in with Pierre for our top story before it is next week!”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story
Pierre Westie: “Our top story is one about a dog that refused to give up on life. Either that or a miracle, we couldn’t decide.

Rudolph was a nine-month-old puppy brought to a kill shelter in Iowa. Unfortunately, there was no room for the stray, and he was marked for euthanasia. The vet loaded up a high dose of a barbiturate-heavy injection and the pup immediately went to sleep. That’s the thing though…Rudolph only went to sleep and woke up with no ill-effects of his attempted murder! The vet decided he deserved a second chance at life and refused to try a second time.
News of Rudolph quickly spread, and he was adopted by a man to be trained as a veteran’s service dog. How’s that for a top story?”

Bentley: “I like that. Of course, a no-kill nation sounds better, but this is definitely a feel-good story. I’m voting it was a miracle!
We often remind everyone not to leave their dogs in the car. It can be dangerous for the dog if they overheat or decide to drive. Yes, I said drive! At least that is what happened recently in California.
A man learned the hard way that overheating isn’t the only trouble a dog can get into went left in a running car. He was only gone for a minute when his dog jumped into the driver’s seat of his 2001 Mercedes-Benz S-Class auto.  Its leash got stuck on the gear shift and moved it into neutral. The car rolled down the street, took out a couple of garbage cans and crashed into a retainer wall where it stopped.
The homeowners hurried out to see what happened and discovered an unharmed, smiling dog. I don’t think the owner will be trusting this dog alone in the car for a very long time.”

Pierre: “Pit bulls often get a bad rap but there are countless stories of them being amazing family members. This is one of those stories.
A family was asleep when the 8-month-old pup began to frantically bark at their apartment door. The mom got up to let the dog inside when she discovered the apartment was on fire. That is when Sasha dashed past her as they both ran towards the 7-month-old baby was sleeping. By the time the mother reached the baby bed, the dog was already in the bed pulling the child by the diaper attempting to pull her to safety.
We are happy to report that everyone is fine and Sasha is sure to have a new best buddy when that baby gets a little older.”

It will be hotter in the south with some rain possible and sunny on the west coast. The Pacific Northwest will have showers, but the northern states will be warm and fair. The center of the country will have some storms so need to stay alert.
Always tune in to your local weather for updates or warnings. Have a terrific week.”
