BFTB NETWoof News August 2020

Bentley Basset: “Hello and welcome back to BFTB NETWoof News! We have been away for quite some time, but we are back behind the news desk and have fetched some great stories for August. Let’s toss it over to my right-paw dog, Pierre, for our top story.”

Pierre Westie: “Well, it is great to be back and our top story proves that we should always keep the faith and some things are just meant to be. We found this story on Facebook’s Weird Facts. It has the coolest information.

A family lost their dog during Hurricane Sandy. They searched for over a year and a half before deciding to adopt another dog. Imagine their shock when the adoption counselor who matched pets with suitable adopters brought out their lost dog! We say that is one feel-good way to start off the news.”

Bentley: “Obviously they were meant to be a family.

Our last newscast was during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and things are still crazy. We have heard that many hand sanitizers are toxic to pets. The popular social media post says that it contains the same ingredient as anti-freeze. This is not true.

The chemical in anti-freeze is ethylene glycol and hand sanitizers are either ethanol or isopropanol based. They do not contain ethylene glycol which is extremely dangerous to pets. While your pet should not consume hand sanitizer and it shouldn’t be used to clean their paws, if they lick your hand after you’ve recently used it, they should be fine.”

Pierre: “As most of you are aware, we are ambassadors for Dr. Harvey’s. In our opinion, they make the best foods, supplements, oils, grooming essentials, and treats.

Let me shine a spotlight on one of our very favorite treats…Dr. Harvey’s Sweet Potate’r Chews! They are 100% dehydrated sweet potatoes grown right here in the good ol’ USA. These babies are sooooo tasty and a much safer alternative to rawhide or other chemical laden chews.

So, what is different about the treats? Check out the beautiful new bag! It’s the same amazingly healthy treat but dressed up with a new look. Order a bag for your best friend for only $16.95 for a 16oz. bag. Of course, you can save 10% with our code BFTB3925.

Bentley: “We always try to find a great cat story and this month’s is a doozy. It took place in a high-security prison in Sri Lanka’s capital of Colombo.

A cat was detained last week on suspicion of smuggling drugs onto the prison grounds. The feline was busted with two grams of heroin, a pair of SIM cards and a memory chip tucked neatly in a plastic bag tied to its collar. When the guard came to feed the cat, it made its way out of the holding room and made a break for the fence. Despite the escape, the police don’t consider it to be an escaped criminal and therefore will not send out a search party. Run kitty, RUN!

Now it’s time for us to check in with our favorite girl reporter, Paisley. What’s new and positive for August?”

Paisley the Lab: “Hey y’all!! Gosh, I have just missed everyone so much. We have tried to stay pawsitive during these crazy times.

One of the ways is to be sure you are getting enough exercise. Whether you are taking short walks or playing in the yard, be aware of the high temperatures. Humans need to keep moving to fight off depression which is more prevalent nowadays.”

August is National Immunization month so remind your parents to be sure your shots are up to date. Trips to most veterinarians have really changed. Our peeps have to stay in the car at our vet. We don’t really like going in by ourselves, but we have to get our important immunizations, nail cuts, or of course, if we get sick. You can always ask your vet if any immunizations can wait until things aren’t so scary.

You can always fetch some great badges for all of the pet holidays at Zoolatry. The badges are available for you to use at no charge, so be sure to share the fun!

Have a great August and I’ll bark at you next month.”

Bentley: “Thank you all so much for visiting today. We apologize for the long absence and hope to be back next month with more good news.

If you are shopping more often from Amazon, we sure would appreciate if you shopped through our link. They have greatly reduced the commission, but every little bit helps. There is absolutely no extra charge for you.

Have a funtastic August! Stay safe and wash your paws. Share our news with your friends and family and be sure to grab yourself some happy.
