Looking Back on 3 Years of Barking from the Bayou

Me and my Basset Hound Bentley share a special bond.
It is hard to believe that it was 3 years ago today that my life went to the dogs. Literally. What started out as a platform for my book series morphed into a lifestyle dog blog and I couldn’t be happier. Barking from the Bayou has become much more than a hobby. My husband Skipper and I have worked to build the blog into a place where our readers can forget the troubles of life and enjoy a laugh or smile. We have learned so much and have so much more to learn. I know blogging has made me a better pet parent to Bentley and Pierre. It is our hope that we have helped you too.

Why You Should Enter Blog Contests

I love to win! Anybody that tells you they don’t is not being honest. It is a rush to me whether it is winning a game, a lottery scratch-off #FreeTicket, or a contest. The fact that I am by my very nature super competitive does not hurt my desire to win. It wasn’t long after I began Barking from the Bayou in December of 2013 that I discovered blog contests. Since that time I have won countless giveaways and contests.
Why you should enter blog contests
1. Bloggers need you
Most contests are sponsored by a company that wants exposure. They are either investing money and /or product to the host blogger. If the contest only garners a few entries, it does not reflect well on the blog. It is a business advertising expense and they want results.

Resolve Not to Make New Year's Resolutions

Every year at this time, the gyms are overcrowded, yogurt is sold out at the stores, the liquor stores are empty and Nicorette is sold out as we all try to keep ridiculously impossible promises to ourselves. The result is that we feel like complete failures before the end of January with eleven months still to go in the year. I gave up making resolutions a long time ago. It is one of those ‘wiser with age’ kinds of things. That wasn’t always the case.

Pet Blogger Challenge Accepted...Again

I am joining with pet bloggers everywhere for the fifth annual Pet Bloggers Challenge.  This is our second year to participate and we excited to learn more about our favorite bloggers.  We are challenged to answer ten questions that are supplied.
1. How long have you been blogging?  And, for anyone stopping by for the first time, please give us a quick description of what your blog is about.  Barking from the Bayou celebrated its first anniversary on Dec. 3, 2014.  We share our reviews of pet products, report the pet world news on Monday’s BFTB NETWoof News, share funny stories, and leave you a little happier than when you arrived.

Writers Blog Post Tour

Welcome to my Writer’s Process Blog Tour.  I was invited to participate in the huge tour by the wonderful Cathy Armato.  You can read her post here.  She is the voice of Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them pet blog.  Cathy is a champion of dog rescues and has volunteered at her local shelter for the past five years.  She and her husband left their jobs as corporate employees and now travel between Arizona and New York as business consultants.  They have two great dogs, Isis the Siberian Husky that she has trained as a service dog and Phoebe, a cutie that she adopted from one of the rescues where she volunteers.  She is currently working on a series about the volunteer work that she does with Isis and a fun series on 100 places to see with your dog!  If you aren’t currently following her blog, you are really missing out on some awesome posts.
The requirements of the Writer’s Process Blog Tour are that I answer three questions and recommend three other writers to participate.  I’ll begin by answering the questions.
