   No matter how careful we are with our pets, illness and accidents happen. It’s always best to be prepared so you’re less likely to freak out. If your dog is anything like mine, they only seem to get sick in the middle of the night on the weekend or a holiday. I think we can all agree that nothing gets you out of bed faster than the sound of your dog vomiting!

How to Prepare for a Natural Disaster with Your Pets

Bentley: “Hey, Pierre!  Guess what we are celebrating today?”

Pierre: “Well, I know it’s not time for my birthday again. Whatever it is, will there be cake?”

Bentley: “No cake. We are calling attention to National Pet Disaster Preparedness Day. It was actually on May 8^th but we believe in the better late than never theory. I’m going to teach you how to be ready in case there is a natural disaster like a tornado, flood, or fire. If we take the time to make a plan and an emergency kit now, the chances of us surviving are a whole lot better.”

Pierre: “What if there is an alien invasion? Would that fall into the Disaster Preparedness Plan? I’ve seen some movies that let me know an invasion could be bad.”

What Goes in a Pet First Aid Kit?

   We were recently fortunate to win an ER Pet First Aid kit from our friends at Bocci’s Beefs and the A.S.P.C.A.  I couldn’t be happier because it allows me to keep everything needed for an emergency in one convenient kit. We also received an emergency blanket. Both of these will be in our car before we leave on any excursion. No one ever expects an accident, but everyone should be prepared for one to happen.
