What is a Snood?

   One of the questions I am often asked after posting a photo of Bentley eating is, "What is on his head?".

   It is a tube-like covering that keeps his ears from getting in his food. It is called a snood and for long-eared dogs, it is a miracle.

Am I Being Manipulated by My Dogs?

   When I am looking at stories for the Bayou Boys to report on BFTB NETWoof News, it always amazes me how many studies are done to prove what pet parents already know. Dogs and cats are super smart and can be very manipulative. 

Here are some of the ways I am manipulated.
 Every. Single. Day.

This is the exact look I wake up to every morning.

• Wake Up ~ Bentley wakes me up around 6:00 each morning so he can go outside. He noses the cover back and gives me a kiss. It is so incredibly sweet. Then, he begins scratching the sheet until I get up. Of course, Pierre gets up and joins us because they get a treat when we come back inside. We usually sleep another hour or so before he is ready for breakfast. There is no snooze button on a Basset.

Yesterday we showed you how the Bayou Boys enjoy their Backyard Shenanigans. Today, we are going to show you where we go for our walks.

The sidewalks on our main streets are beautifully maintained and the gardens are overflowing with flowers.

Do you ever wonder what the Bayou Boys do when they are running around in the yard? Well, this is basically how they spend their time. Of course, when the Texas sun is shining, they love to lay in the grass and absorb some rays.

Bentley is listening for someone to move so he can bark and let them know these premises are protected by a Basset Hound.

February's Love Letter

Dear Mom,
   Can you believe it is already February? I was perusing our calendar and noticed we will be celebrating a number of human holidays. In addition to Make a Friend Day, there’s Groundhog Day, Fat Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day. You’ll notice that those are all one day celebrations and really have nothing to do with pets. Not to say that we don’t appreciate a little something-something on February 14^th. Just sayin’…

   Pierre and I set about trying to dig up some special howlidays for pets and guess what we discovered? 

Help! My Dog Has Diarrhea

   Today I want to discuss something that nobody wants to talk about, but everyone has to deal with it. I’m referring DIARRHEA. No matter how careful that you are with your dog and their digestive system, it is going to happen. Loose, liquid or frequent stools are not uncommon in dogs of all ages. There are a multitude of reasons and can be as simple as a change in their diets.

   No matter what the cause might be, there is one question on every pet parent’s lips; “How do I make it stop?” In the past, you might have tried an emergency diet of boiled chicken and rice with some canned pumpkin mixed in for good measure. Then, it is a wait and see situation. In the meantime, your dog feels yucky and there is good chance that your carpet is going to need steam cleaned.
