What is a Snood?

Basset hound wearing a snood
One of the questions I am often asked after posting a photo of Bentley eating is, "What is on his head?".
It is a tube-like covering that keeps his ears from getting in his food. It is called a snood and for long-eared dogs, it is a miracle.

BFTB NETWoof News February 25, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of February 25, 2019. There are some great stories so let’s throw it over to Pierre for our top story.”

Pierre Westie: “Thanks, Bentley. We are starting out this newscast with a report about a truly remarkable woman. Her name is Maisie Green and she is 89-years-young. Dogs Trust rehoming in Basildon, England has recognized her for knitting and donating around 450 blankets and sweaters for their shelter dogs. It takes her three days to knit a blanket, but she can whip up a doggie sweater in one day! What a wonderful way to turn a hobby into a gift for others.”

How to Feed Your Dog a Raw Diet When You are Super Busy

Many pet parents are interested in feeding raw but the thought of adding extra work to their already full schedule scares them away. Believe me, I understand. Your day is already full of being an adult and all that is involved in doing grown-up stuff. How in the world can you prepare a healthy raw meal for your dog when you are usually microwaving a frozen meal for yourself?
Well, fret no more and begin feeding your best friend an amazing freeze-dried raw complete diet.
• Freeze-dried fresh high-quality meat is first ingredient (chicken or beef)
• Fresh vegetables & fruits
• Contains NO chemicals, preservatives, additives, fillers, dyes, synthetic ingredients, or by-products
• Made in the USA without salt, sugar, soy or wheat

Love Your Pet Day 2019

Happy Love Your Pet Day!

Bentley: “Wait a minute! Don’t you love us every day of the year?”
Pierre: “Shhh, this could mean treats, toys, and belly rubs all day! You know they can’t resist celebrating a howliday with us.”

Am I Being Manipulated by My Dogs?

When I am looking at stories for the Bayou Boys to report on BFTB NETWoof News, it always amazes me how many studies are done to prove what pet parents already know. Dogs and cats are super smart and can be very manipulative.
Here are some of the ways I am manipulated.
 Every. Single. Day.
This is the exact look I wake up to every morning.
• Wake Up ~ Bentley wakes me up around 6:00 each morning so he can go outside. He noses the cover back and gives me a kiss. It is so incredibly sweet. Then, he begins scratching the sheet until I get up. Of course, Pierre gets up and joins us because they get a treat when we come back inside. We usually sleep another hour or so before he is ready for breakfast. There is no snooze button on a Basset.

BFTB NETWoof News February 18, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof news and weather. We hope you are ready for some good animal stories because we have fetched some doozies! Let’s check with Pierre for our top story.”
Pierre Westie: “You know everyone loves a wedding and the SPCA Tampa Bay in Largo, Florida turned that love into a furbulous fundraiser! They recently hosted wedding-like ceremonies for animals to help raise much-needed funds.
The ceremonies ranged from $30 to $100 and included their special timeslot, a checklist, a digital save-the-date card, a wedding toast, and marriage license. All the new couples were entered in a chance to win a honeymoon package too! From what we understand, none of the participants got cold paws and the weddings were lovely.”

Barking About Hallmark's American Rescue Dog Show

Something happened over the Christmas holidays that I haven’t really talked about, but I am here to set the record straight. I was surfing through the tv channels when I stopped on the Hallmark channel. It was a romantic Christmas movie and just like that, I became addicted to Hallmark movies! If you love romance and happily ever afters, tune to the Hallmark channel and enjoy the sweet love stories. Most of them only last 90 minutes so they don’t take up your entire evening.

Choose Sweet Potate'r Chews from Dr. Harvey's

Happy Valentine’s Day! Since the Bayou Boys aren’t impressed with flowers and they can’t have chocolate, their gift was a no-brainer.
When it comes to treats, it doesn’t get any simpler or tastier than Sweet Potate’r Chews. That’s because it is made with one ingredient, dehydrated sweet potatoes!

Exploring the Neighborhood

Yesterday we showed you how the Bayou Boys enjoy their Backyard Shenanigans. Today, we are going to show you where we go for our walks.
The sidewalks on our main streets are beautifully maintained and the gardens are overflowing with flowers.

Backyard Shenanigans

Do you ever wonder what the Bayou Boys do when they are running around in the yard? Well, this is basically how they spend their time. Of course, when the Texas sun is shining, they love to lay in the grass and absorb some rays.

BFTB NETWoof News February 11, 2019

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have some great stories for you so let’s throw it over to my co-anchor Pierre for the top story.”

Pierre Westie: “For Valentine’s Day week, we have some stories about love and rescues starting with a dog that was labeled ‘Britain’s Loneliest Dog’ after spending over five years in a rescue shelter.
Freya is a six-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix that is described as a sweet and friendly bundle of joy and affection. The shelter’s deputy kennel manager voiced her concern after over 18,000 visitors and not a single adoption offer for Freya. They weren’t sure if her diagnosis of Epilepsy was a deterrent or not, but she is such a great dog that it seemed so unfair for her to spend years waiting.

Memories in Black & White Day #2

Welcome to Friday and the weekend! We are continuing a look back through some of our favorite black & white photos of the Bayou Boys.
Enjoy Day #2
Bentley can look so serious sometimes that I have to wonder what he is thinking. My bet is that it has something to do with food or world peace.

Memories in Black & White Day #1

I was looking through some photos and realized it had been a long time since we posted any black and white photos. As we looked through the endless pictures trying to select a few, I realized that there were many favorites. We decided that we could make two days of black and white fun!

February's Love Letter

Dear Mom,
Can you believe it is already February? I was perusing our calendar and noticed we will be celebrating a number of human holidays. In addition to Make a Friend Day, there’s Groundhog Day, Fat Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day. You’ll notice that those are all one day celebrations and really have nothing to do with pets. Not to say that we don’t appreciate a little something-something on February 14th. Just sayin’…
Pierre and I set about trying to dig up some special howlidays for pets and guess what we discovered?

Help! My Dog Has Diarrhea

Today I want to discuss something that nobody wants to talk about, but everyone has to deal with it. I’m referring DIARRHEA. No matter how careful that you are with your dog and their digestive system, it is going to happen. Loose, liquid or frequent stools are not uncommon in dogs of all ages. There are a multitude of reasons and can be as simple as a change in their diets.
No matter what the cause might be, there is one question on every pet parent’s lips; “How do I make it stop?” In the past, you might have tried an emergency diet of boiled chicken and rice with some canned pumpkin mixed in for good measure. Then, it is a wait and see situation. In the meantime, your dog feels yucky and there is good chance that your carpet is going to need steam cleaned.

Just Joking!

The Bayou Boys are still working on their stand-up routine. We hope you enjoy these jokes and don’t worry, we’ll let you know before their Vegas debut!
