Bentley: “Hey Pierre! Instead of the news, we get to tell everyone about my furbulous twelfth birthday. That’s right, I celebrated turning the BIG 1-2 yesterday so I thought you would like to see how we paw-tied on the Bayou.”
I was so excited to get a brand-new *Lambchop. Pierre is a known serial Lambchop killer so I’m going to try to keep this baby away from him. You can see that he is already eyeing it!

5 Tips to Being Cool
Bentley: “It’s Friday and I think that we have been serious most of the week. In order to end your work week with a much-deserved smile, I thought I’d answer some of my e-mail.”
Pierre: “Are you telling me that you received mail from a dog seeking advice?”
Bentley: “What’s so strange about that? I’m a Basset Hound; we are a very empathetic breed.”

The Wild Wild West With the Bayou Boys
Bentley and Pierre loved their time in the southwest at the BlogPaws™ conference. They stayed indoors most of the time due to the excessive heat but to hear them tell it, they were back in the Wild Wild West!
Bentley: “Hey Pierre, what do you say we rustle us up some grub? This cattle round-up has given me a hankering for some rattlesnake stew.”

Do You Talk To Your Pet?
How many times a day do you have this conversation?
Your spouse/child: “Did you say something?”
You: “I was talking to the dog.”
I am not ashamed to say that this scenario is played out between Bentley, Pierre, my husband Skipper, and myself several times a day. We both speak to the dogs just like we talk to each other. No squeaky voices, no baby words. We speak to them as we would any other member of the family. Does that make us weird? I don’t think so, but then again, I’m the one carrying on conversations with a Basset Hound and a Westie.
The question is, “Do our dogs communicate with us?” We offer the following proof.

Misunderstood Working Dogs
I was busy
picking up Bentley and Pierre’s toys the other day when I happened to mention
that they should be helping me. Once they quit snickering, they both explained
to me how much they do that goes unappreciated each and every day. It seems the
Bayou Boys feel they are not being properly compensated. This is how the
conversation progressed.
Me: “I shouldn’t
have to bribe y'all. You should help because I asked.”
Bentley: “You are lucky
that you don’t have to pay us cash for all of the different jobs we do around
here. It’s not easy being a working dog.”
Me: “You boys don’t
work. Mostly y’all sit around looking cute, mooching belly rubs, and
chasing squirrels.”
Pierre: “You cut us to
the quick! I’ll have you know that it would cost you a fortune to hire or
buy all of the services that we provide for you. Let’s take a quick look at
what we do each day.

Not at Home on the Range
Bentley
and Pierre recently discovered some Scottish Highland cows so they decided to
try their paws at a round-up. Don’t worry; all the cattle dogs’ jobs are safe!
The boys didn’t quite grasp the concept of herding. They are not at home on the range!

The Fifth Paw Receives High Fives
Me: “Have you ever looked at something and wished that you’d thought of it?”
Bentley: “Yeah, I wish that I’d thought of National Dog Treat Day. A day where you do nothing but give me treats.”
Me: “I’m talking about something that fills an unmet need, a thing, not a day. You can’t invent a day; you’re not Hallmark™.”
Bentley: “Which unmet need have you had filled? Is this something that I want to hear?”

Be Content - A Quote
“If you can be content with who you are, how you look and then try every day to make a difference to someone else, then it leads to a wonderful life. It’s a shame more humans can’t grasp that fact.” - M.K. Clinton – Showstoppers

5 Reasons Your Dog Enjoys A Walk
January is National Walk Your Dog Month. Dogs love going on walks. It is probably one of the most
exciting parts of their day. Bentley and Pierre know when we are about to take
them walking. They bark as they hurry to get their harnesses and leashes
attached. I asked Bentley what makes walking so special for dogs. The following
are his answers.
1. It’s great to get out of the
house for a while. Staring at the same four walls gets so boring.

Cuddle Dogs
Bentley: “Guess what we are
celebrating today?”
Pierre: “Is it my birthday?
Will there be cake?”
Bentley: “No and no. It is
National Cuddle-Up Day. You know what that means…”
Pierre: “Let’s make a break
for it!”

A Year in Review 2015
As 2015 comes to a close, I
thought it would be fun to take a photographic trip down Memory Lane. I tried
to select my favorite pics of the year, but it proved more difficult than I
imagined. My husband, Skipper does an incredible job taking photos of Bentley and
Pierre. Although they are not the most cooperative subjects, he always makes
them look as if they were natural born models. I hope that you enjoy our video compilation.
We
are looking forward to 2016 with the camera ready!

Doppelganger Dog
We recently discovered that Bentley has his very own doppelganger!
This adorable cookie jar is from
Ree Drummond's
The Pioneer Woman collection.
