The Interviews
We
are joining our pals McGuffy’s Reader and 15 and Meowing for their weekly
Friendly Fill-Ins. This week all three of us decided to fill in the blanks.
My Answers:
• The flu shot never seems to guard against the current strain.
• I think everyone should take time to be grateful daily. There is something to be thankful for even on “bad” days.
• I (almost) always laugh when I am writing my blog or books because I think they are funny.
• I (almost) never start my day without two cups of coffee because I have to function as an adult.

5 Puppy Mistakes to Avoid
There
are not many things more exciting than welcoming a new puppy into your home.
They are roly-poly bundles of fun and energy. It is easy to become overwhelmed
if you don’t have a game plan to begin training. Even though your new best
friend is still young, an eight-week-old puppy is capable of learning the
basics.

Tips for a Great Dog Walk
January is officially
Walk Your Dog Month. I’m not sure
why they would pick the month with snow and sub-freezing temperatures. It
probably is to motivate humans to keep their New Year’s resolution to get in
shape! Whatever the reason, it is always a great time to walk your best friends.

Tips
for a Great Walk
• Always have poop bags to clean up after your dog.
• Keep your dog on a
leash unless you’re in an off-leash park.
• Bring water and a collapsible bowl.
• Small treats can be
a wonderful walk to incorporate training with exercise.
• Watch your dog for
signs of distress or tiredness.
• Never pull on your
dog’s collar as you could cause damage to their neck.
• Protect their paws
from extreme cold or heat with Pawz® or Jelly Wellies booties.

The Healing Powers of Dr. Harvey's
I
love Dr. Harvey’s Healing Cream and love to tell other pet parents about this
amazing little jar of magic. The reason that I am so passionate about spreading
the word is that I have seen the results from using it. Like all pet parents we
do our best to keep the boys from injuring themselves and like all
boys, they still find a way to get scrapes
and boo boos. The moment that I see any type of irritation on Bentley or
Pierre, I break out my handy jar of Healing Cream and let the magic begin.

Will It Snow?
Pierre Westie: “Oh my dog! Have you
seen the weather report for the bayou? It is supposed to ice and snow tonight. This
is a rare occurrence for us. We enjoy watching the humans react.”
Bentley: “It all began when
our local meteorologist used the “s” word. Absolute panic set in among the humans.
This is because NOBODY knows how to drive in the snow. We do not have machines
that deal with ice and snow so getting out on the road is never a good idea. That
means people rush to the grocery store while it was still in the upper 50’s
today to stockpile bread, milk and water.”

Barker and The Beast ~ A Love Story
One
of the first toys pet parents get their puppy is a ball. We have a wide array
of balls in different sizes and textures. Pierre loves most toys but gets the
most fun and exercise out of a ball. He was so excited when goDog® sent us one
of their Rhino Play™ balls. He barked like crazy until I gave it to him. They are
known for their durable toys which is important when you have a certain Westie
that likes to kill toys.
Pierre Westie: “Now hold it right
there. It’s been months since I’ve killed a toy. Moles on the other paw are a
different story. Hee hee!
Do
you mind if I go ahead and do our review? After all, I am the expert when it
comes to The Beast™.

Mole in the Hole
Pierre Westie: “I am considering
pleading the fifth amendment if I am brought in for questioning in the untimely
death of this vermin. It is a mole and while I know all critters deserve to
live a long and healthy life, they are not welcome to make themselves at home
in my backyard. I am sure that you’ve heard the old saying about making
mountains out of mole hills. Well, there is a reason for that. One mole can dig 150 feet in a day. These tiny
little insectivores can destroy your backyard in no time! They dig tunnels right
below ground level and it drives me crazy. I can hear them down there munching
on grubs, worms, beetles and other gross things.

Quick Bath and Tushee Wipes from Head to Tail
Bentley
is such a sweetheart and I love him more than words can express. But let’s face
it, there are days when he smells like a hound dog. That usually means
dragging out the dog shampoo, brushes, blow dryer and towels. I’m lucky that he
loves a bath but it’s not always convenient. Those are the times I am so glad
we discovered IVC Quick Bath® pre-moistened wipes.
These
heavy-duty wipes are extra thick and remove loose hair along with dirt. It
leaves Bentley smelling great with a shiny coat. I prefer using wipes instead
of putting him the tub during the winter months. Quick Bath Wipes can be a real
nose-saver when your pup smells a little ruff! Psst...they are available for cats too!

10 Fun Animal Facts for National Trivia Day
We are celebrating National Trivia Day with some fun facts about
dogs, cats and other random animals. These could be helpful playing Jeopardy or
be the answer to the million-dollar question! Bentley and Pierre will provide commentaries because they insisted.
• Dogs
have about 1,700 taste buds.
Bentley: “Which explains why I love to eat so much.
• A
single elephant tooth can weigh 9 pounds.
Pierre: Can you imagine how bad it would hurt if an elephant bit its
tongue while eating? OUCH!
