I am far too organized! I alphabetize EVERYTHING and can’t stand when things are out of place.

A Letter for Remember Me Thursday

It’s me, Stray Dog #1547 over here in the corner kennel. I know that I’m not the cutest dog around but really wish that you’d stop by my cage. It is sad to watch the younger dogs get most of the attention. We all deserve a chance at happiness. Oh sure, I was happy once upon a time but that was long ago. What’s my story, you ask? Sigh, mine is not an unusual tale but it goes like this…

The Dangers Lurking In Leaves

It’s that time of the year when the air is crisp and the leaves crunch under out feet. There is something about a fresh pile of leaves that is irresistible to children and dogs. Pierre loves chasing the leaves as they float to the ground. We don’t usually rake our leaves but rather chop them up with the lawn mower. After reading PetPlan's graphic about the dangers that could be lurking in leaf piles, I am glad.

It's Almost Time for Remember Me Thursday

Orange badge with dog and cat silhouette with candles burning
Next Thursday, September 28, 2017 we will participate in the fifth annual Remember Me Thursday®. It is a day set aside to remember the pets that don’t make it out of the shelters and rescues across the world. Each year over 2.7 million shelter pets will lose their lives without finding a forever home. That is simply heartbreaking.

How To Keep Your Dog Healthy

One of the most helpless feelings for a pet parent is when our pups aren’t feeling good. They can’t tell us where they hurt and we are left to guess or take a trip to the veterinarian. The question is, “What can we do to help protect our best friends from illness?”

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because we recently reviewed their beautiful dog dishes. The boys really enjoy eating out of them. Now we can add their yummy treats to our list of favorites.

A Whale of a Fishing Tale

We had a laid-back time this summer and our big vacation was moving our son and his family from Washington to Texas. We had a great time driving from the top of the country to the bottom! Bentley and Pierre were not able to join us on that trip so they stayed at the Bed & Biscuit.
When they heard today was the day that all their friends in Blogville were sharing vacation stories, they did not want to be left out. Here is their fish story and like all fishermen’s tales, this one is a whopper!”

I Am Feeling Awesome!

One of the coolest things about writing my book series, The Returns, is how popular some of the quotes have become with pet lovers. It is a great feeling to know that my words have struck a chord.
I was recently contacted by Penguin Random House Australia concerning my most popular quote:
“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.”

The Bayou Boys Found Wild Boar & Kale Treats

Pierre Westie: We had two deliveries from our pal Chewy in August. Our first was my super cool Flexi Leash that we reviewed a few days ago. I love it but Bentley insisted on getting something to snack on too.”
We received a bag of Canidae treats in exchange for an honest review as a influencer.
Bentley Basset Hound: “That’s because has all of the best treats at the best prices! We chose Canidae® Bakery Snacks in their Wild Board & Kale formula. It is a great way to snack and stay healthy with their Life Stages Natural & Holistic treats.”
Pierre: “Let me tell you these babies don’t just taste fabulous, they help clean our teeth with their crunchy texture. Each treat has a convenient “snap” feature so Mom can make them last twice as long.”
Bentley: “I prefer the entire treat but I understand that Mom likes to be savey savey. It’s strange that she doesn’t half her treats but I digress. Our Canidae Bakery Snacks include only seven ingredients. That makes our tails wag with delight. They use brown rice, steel cut oats, wild boar, kale, oat fiber, chicken fat and natural flavor to create a drool-worthy taste.”
Pierre: “It’s obvious the Canidae family wants us to live long healthy lives! They bake nutritious treats to nourish our bodies without adding any junk that we don’t need! Plus, they are made right here in the good ol’ U.S.A. Each bag has at least 40 treats and when you break them in half…it’s 80 times the fun!”
Bentley: “You don’t have to take our word for how yummy these treats are. Order a bag for yourself from I’m sure your humans won’t mind since everyone LOVES Chewy!

After the Hurricane #PetTips

Hurricane Harvey has left Texas but what remains is a catastrophic mess. There are many dangers lurking in and under the standing flood water. I wanted to share some tips to keep your pets safe to those trying to restore some semblance of normalcy.
These ideas are good to keep in mind in the event of any water disaster.
Standing Water
• High waters pose a danger to all animals. It is important to make sure your pet is safe. Never leave a pet tied up or in a cage where they can’t get to higher ground.
• Floodwaters may contain toxic chemicals and bacterial disease like Leptospirosis.
