A Letter for Remember Me Thursday

Hello,
It’s me, Stray Dog #1547 over here in the corner kennel. I know that I’m not the cutest dog around but really wish that you’d stop by my cage. It is sad to watch the younger dogs get most of the attention. We all deserve a chance at happiness. Oh sure, I was happy once upon a time but that was long ago. What’s my story, you ask? Sigh, mine is not an unusual tale but it goes like this…

The Dangers Lurking In Leaves

It’s that time of the year when the air is crisp and the leaves crunch under out feet. There is something about a fresh pile of leaves that is irresistible to children and dogs. Pierre loves chasing the leaves as they float to the ground. We don’t usually rake our leaves but rather chop them up with the lawn mower. After reading PetPlan's graphic about the dangers that could be lurking in leaf piles, I am glad.

Le Dogue Bites are Très Bien

Bentley: “Bonjour, Pierre. Would you care to partake in some of my Dr.Harvey’s le dogue bites®?  I must say they are très bien.”
Pierre: “What the heck is wrong with you, Bentley? You are talking funny. The only thing I understood was Dr. Harvey’s so whatever it is, I want some.”

It's Almost Time for Remember Me Thursday

Orange badge with dog and cat silhouette with candles burning
Next Thursday, September 28, 2017 we will participate in the fifth annual Remember Me Thursday®. It is a day set aside to remember the pets that don’t make it out of the shelters and rescues across the world. Each year over 2.7 million shelter pets will lose their lives without finding a forever home. That is simply heartbreaking.

How To Keep Your Dog Healthy

One of the most helpless feelings for a pet parent is when our pups aren’t feeling good. They can’t tell us where they hurt and we are left to guess or take a trip to the veterinarian. The question is, “What can we do to help protect our best friends from illness?”

One Houndations Nation

Barking from the Bayou, LLC received Houndations dog treats in exchange for an honest review. We only share products/services that we love and believe in. Loving Pets is not responsible for the contents of this article. *Amazon affiliate links included.
We have something new on our leash when we go on our walks and it is making life easier for me. It is Houndations™ treats from our friends at Loving Pets®. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because we recently reviewed their beautiful dog dishes. The boys really enjoy eating out of them. Now we can add their yummy treats to our list of favorites.

A Whale of a Fishing Tale

We had a laid-back time this summer and our big vacation was moving our son and his family from Washington to Texas. We had a great time driving from the top of the country to the bottom! Bentley and Pierre were not able to join us on that trip so they stayed at the Bed & Biscuit.
When they heard today was the day that all their friends in Blogville were sharing vacation stories, they did not want to be left out. Here is their fish story and like all fishermen’s tales, this one is a whopper!”

Memories Old & New

Skipper took this photo from the top of the World Trade Center when we visited in July 1999. Its shadows stretched all the way into Brooklyn.

Is That Pumpkin Spice On Your Breath?

September means the leaves are about to change, football is kicking off and everything turns to pumpkin spice! It is a wonderful time of the year.

I Am Feeling Awesome!

One of the coolest things about writing my book series, The Returns, is how popular some of the quotes have become with pet lovers. It is a great feeling to know that my words have struck a chord.
I was recently contacted by Penguin Random House Australia concerning my most popular quote:
“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.”

After the Hurricane #PetTips

Hurricane Harvey has left Texas but what remains is a catastrophic mess. There are many dangers lurking in and under the standing flood water. I wanted to share some tips to keep your pets safe to those trying to restore some semblance of normalcy.
These ideas are good to keep in mind in the event of any water disaster.
Standing Water
• High waters pose a danger to all animals. It is important to make sure your pet is safe. Never leave a pet tied up or in a cage where they can’t get to higher ground.
• Floodwaters may contain toxic chemicals and bacterial disease like Leptospirosis.
