Thursday, September 28, 2017 we will participate in the fifth annual Remember Me Thursday®. It is a day set aside to remember the pets that don’t make it out
of the shelters and rescues across the world. Each year over 2.7 million
shelter pets will lose their lives without finding a forever home. That is
simply heartbreaking.
There
are ceremonies and events across the globe to shine a light of the plight of
these pets. Visit the Remember Me Thursday Events page and see if there is
anything planned in your area. If not, you can organize a candle lighting
ceremony along with shelters in your hometown.
and post pics of your adopted pets with the hashtag #RememberTheRescue. This
challenge is a social media contest and participants can nominate their
favorite pet adoption organization or facility for a chance to win one of three
awesome prizes.
You
still have time to be a part of this amazing day of remembrance. Together, we
can make a difference!

We are joining our friends at BlogPaws™ for
that is heartbreaking and devastating... and we will have a candle for all who ... well ya know...
ReplyDeleteThe numbers are unbelievably sad. We will have a candle burning too.
DeleteMom and I will be lighting our candle♥
ReplyDeleteIt is important that we all shine a light of this sad situation so it can get better.
DeleteHeartbreaking - we will be lighting our candle
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you are participating!
DeleteWe are participating too!! We have adopted many rescues over the years! They ALL deserve good homes!! It is a good thing my husband puts a limit on how many dogs I can have...or I would have MANY more than I have now!
ReplyDeleteI thought that you joined in Remember Me Thursday. I'm the same way. I have wanted a Basset puppy but after following so many Basset Hound rescues, I think I've changed my mind. Older hounds need loving!
DeleteAside from one dog, only the cats are from shelters at our house. It is sad to see all those poor pets needing homes.
ReplyDeleteMy first cat was from our humane society. She was such a sweetie and lived for almost 20 years!
DeleteWe are definitely participating. (It's organized by the shelter where I've been volunteering the past 11+ years.) That picture of that sweet baby makes me sad. Wishing all the adorable pets could find their forever homes.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have anything local but I will be sharing on social media and have my candle burning. I'll look for your pics from your event!
DeleteThank you so much for sharing this, I never heard of Remember Me Thursday. We are a foster family for a rescue in my area and am passionate about adopting rescue dogs!
ReplyDeleteIt is our 3rd year to participate. It is such a great campaign to shine the light on adoption.
DeleteNo events in my area, but I'm glad to see there are quite a few around the country! We will be lighting our candle and sharing a photo of Luke that day. How can someone not love that adorable dog in that photo?? It makes me sad that they can't all have homes.

I knew that you had been blogging about it too! We don't have any events around here but I will share my picture of Miss Gitty, my rescued cat.
DeleteWe are not familiar with this event but we say it is a great campaign...for shelters.
ReplyDeleteOur first family kitty was a shelter kitty when the peeps found him at our local shelter.
Hugs madi and mom
My first cat was a rescue too. She was such a wonderful friend and companion. She "raised" four of our dogs! LOL!
DeleteOur candle will burn for those lost babies. Hard to fathom there are so many who never find that pawfect fur-ever home.
