A Whale of a Fishing Tale

We had a laid-back time this summer and our big vacation was moving our son and his family from Washington to Texas. We had a great time driving from the top of the country to the bottom! Bentley and Pierre were not able to join us on that trip so they stayed at the Bed & Biscuit.
When they heard today was the day that all their friends in Blogville were sharing vacation stories, they did not want to be left out. Here is their fish story and like all fishermen’s tales, this one is a whopper!”
Westie and Basset Hound driving a boat

Bentley: “We had some great weather to take our boat and do a little fishing this summer.”
Pierre: “Each time Mom and Dad would leave us, we would take the boat to our local lake and drop a line in the water.”

Bentley: “The main trick to catching fish is to be quiet. Have you ever been in a boat with a Westie? Pierre asked a million questions. He was a little squeamish about the worms so I was usually the one that had to bait his hook.”
Pierre: “Seriously, dude! Those worms are nasty and I don’t like getting worm goo on my paws. As far as the talking goes, I was trying to keep you from dozing. You know how you get out in the sunshine and the waves were very relaxing. I did not want to have to take a fish off your pole!”

Bentley: “The biggest fish that I landed would have pulled you in the lake! It was the size of a small whale and put up quite a fight. I was exhausted after getting it in the boat. Pierre was screaming and dancing around like a little girl dog. It was very funny!”
Pierre: “I was doing the native fish dance. It is an ancient ritual that I learned from the Aborigines people. I don’t expect you to understand but it is how you thank the fishing gods for a great catch. Anyway, we had an awesome time fishing this summer. What did you do this summer?"

Blogville is having a picnic with a Barn Dance!
We are wondering if Emma & Bailie would like to accompany us to  the dance.

  3. Oh Bentley! I'm so proud of your fishing skills! I love fish but it is so hard to get fish because Mom doesn't like anything to do with fish. If you catch a salmon, let me know, I really love that!

  9. You guys sure know how to entertain yourselves when the pawrents leave. We had a boring summer, our huMom didn't do anything and every time she tried to schedule something, her plans fell through. She's a read dud. But we checked at a local state park and they will let us dogs come so maybe I can convince her to take us soon to see the aspen changing colors. Paws crossed.

    1. There is nothing quite as beautiful as the aspen trees changing colors. We would love to visit Colorado during the fall.
