The Dangers Lurking In Leaves

It’s that time of the year when the air is crisp and the leaves crunch under out feet. There is something about a fresh pile of leaves that is irresistible to children and dogs. Pierre loves chasing the leaves as they float to the ground. We don’t usually rake our leaves but rather chop them up with the lawn mower. After reading PetPlan's graphic about the dangers that could be lurking in leaf piles, I am glad.

  3. We love to jump in the big piles of leaves at Gramma's house, but it is fast and furious and not real dangerous. If we ever saw a creature in there, Mom would never let us go in the leaves again!

    1. I hear ya! If Mom saw a snake or even a tick on us, she would never let us race through the leaves again. BOL!

    1. We have a yard full of trees so we spend a lot of the fall mowing up leaves.

    1. It is so tempting to rake up a big pile for the dogs to play in but this graphic really made me think better of the idea.

  9. Even though it's been warm, we have lots of leaves falling already. Because of ticks around here, we never leave piles around that the dogs could get into, but we might not have thought of those other reasons!

    1. We haven't had a problem with ticks (knock on wood) but the leaves are definitely falling. All we need now is cooler temps.

  10. Now this is a 200% excellent PSA....once my human sis rolled in freshly cut grass when playing at her friend's house. She came home a hot red itchy mess
Needless to say she was miserable for days and did require a trip to the Doc.

    1. Bentley likes to roll in the leaves and the grass and it makes him so itchy! I wipe him off with Wet Ones when he comes back inside. He decided to roll in the dirt yesterday though so he had to get a bath! LOL!

  12. The other day, after running the dogs, we stopped by the shelter to leave some sheets and towels. The Shelter man thought, at first, I was dropping off the dogs. He was so happy it was just the sheets.

    1. I know shelters always appreciate towels and sheets. I'm sure the dogs thought that was funny! As if you could ever part with them!

    1. Our backyard is too big for a bagger but we much the leaves up quite often. We used to rake them and would end up with over 100 bags!

  14. Creepy crawlers are a definite deal breaker! No wonder Mom always keeps me clear of the leaf piles. #thanksmom

    1. I think chopping them is okay. We have never had a problem. It is just when they pile up, get wet and yucky!

  16. There's no leaf raking here so we're safe from all those dangers. That was a scary diagram!
