Kurgo Cargo Cape for Traveling with Dogs

Kurgo Cargo Cape

You have probably heard of Kurgo® and their great products for outdoor fun with your dogs.  The company was started by two brothers, Kitter and Gordie Spater in 2003.  Their goal was to create products that were well designed, innovative and make it easier to travel with our pets.  I say, “Mission accomplished!” when it comes to the Kurgo Cargo Cape™

We recently purchased a new SUV for the primary purpose of traveling with Bentley and Pierre.  It is perfect and they have a lot of room to get comfortable.  Although I love traveling with them, I’d still like to keep the car looking new for as long as possible.  This can be difficult with the Incredible Shedding Basset.  Pierre’s Talons of Death make getting unwanted scratches a real possibility.  What we needed were waterproof car seat covers that could resist scratches and prevent hair from getting into every nook and cranny.

It’s Kurgo Cargo Cape to the rescue!  It is a universal fit and has adjustable headrest straps. The Cape measures 52” wide and 62” deep. They even added a split seat zipper for independent seat position.  Installation is quick and easy.  You align and attach the two headrest straps and adjust them so the cape is flush with the seats and cargo area.  They have thought of everything including Velcro tabs on the underside to adhere to the cargo’s carpet.  The Velcro has a firm grip to keep the Cape from moving.  That will keep the boys from slip sliding at every turn.  When we take long road trips, it will also protect the car from their cruising crate.

In order to protect the bumper as the dogs get in and out, simply let down the bumper guard.  It has a reflective trim for added safety.  Once the dog is on board the guard folds up and there is a Kurgo tab to hold it securely out of the way.  You’ll find a large mesh pocket on both sides for storing wet towels, leashes, bowls, toys, or anything else you might need for your trip.  The Cargo Cape has a raised rim/water trap around the edges to prevent dirt and water from rolling off the cover and onto your carpet.  To clean your Cargo Cape, simply brush off loose dirt with a dry brush.  It’s stain –resistant and can be wiped with a damp sponge.  Our cape has been really easy to keep clean with simply brushing it.
Many of you are planning on taking pet-friendly vacations this summer.   The Kurgo Cargo Cape can help keep your SUV or station wagon clean and protected.  It is regularly priced at $60.00, but they are having a Fourth of July sale!  You can save 20% by using the code: 4JULY15.  All of Kurgo’s products have a no-hassle lifetime guarantee.

  1. The split seat zipper is a nice feature I haven't seen before. We have our area covered for now, but this looks like a good product.

  8. We just got that, too and I love it! And while we haven't had dirty dogs in it yet, we stopped to rent a steam cleaner to clean the carpet yesterday for our big party today. It is one of those Bissell pet steam cleaners. I was SO glad I had the Cargo Cape in there because that thing was full of kitty litter on the bottom. It kept all that crap from getting on the carpet in the back and all I had to do was brush it out. I wasn't happy with the situation, but it could have been a lot worse and I am already a very happy customer over that alone! I love everything about it, including the cute little tags on the cargo nets!

  9. Looks like a great product especially if you have multiple dogs. Not sure Ruby would want to sit back there by herself.

  10. Hi Y'all!

Hope y'all are gettin' a chance to try it out this holiday weekend. Love Kurgo products.

Since y'all got a new suv, is there a way to seat belt the boys in the back? Is there a place to run a seat belt through the cover?

    Hope y'all are havin' a fun 4th!

  12. Oooooo, this could replace the 87 thousand towels that are now in the back of the extra cab of the truck! Oh, and that 'STINK' according to Ma...whatevers. This could make her life so much easier! Okays, I'll let her know! FABulous review guys!

  13. That's a great car saver! And you look so 'pawsome,' Bentley sitting all proud in the middle of it. I know my own car blanket has saving the seat from muddy paws more than once and keeps grass and other debris corralled!
