What's Lurking in the Leaves?

Basset and Westie in leaves
Fall is such a wonderful time of the year. I love the changing colors and the cool crisp air. The Bayou Boys enjoy being out in the cooler temps and shuffling through the leaves is always fun. It’s important to keep in mind that there are still dangers in those piles of fun.

  3. Nothing is more fun than walking through the leaves on my morning walk and yes, mom is very watchful, as always.

  4. Ticks are everywhere, and should all be asked to leave the planet! We love running through the leaves, but have never had any problems.

  5. Our birds love to dig around in the leaves, so I'm sure that means there are a lot of good things (to them) like bugs in there! It's definitely good to be aware, and to stick to freshly raked piles.

  7. Yep I avoid walking in anything when I cannot see my feet. Here in the south you never know where a snake is lurking either. Thank goodness for cooler weather no creepy crawlies and a few more days of freezing night temps and the ticks will be gone for a while

  8. You are so right. Maybe that's why Mom makes us stay on the sidewalk when we walk on the trail. Great PSA.

  9. Had no idea we had ticks, until The PO'M had one under his chin! We don't have tall grass or thick gardens, but obviously, those critters are lurking out there somewhere.

  11. Thanks for the advice. As soon as they all fall down, we'll rake those leaves to the back of the yard as compost. You'd be surprised how fast they break down!
