Did you know that your pet needs one ounce of water for each pound of body weight every day? Just like in humans, drinking enough water is important for your pet’s health. July has been designated as Pet Hydration Month by PetSafe® so it is a great time to see if your pet has a drinking problem!
Proper Hydration is Important
• It prevents urinary tract infections and urinary disease
• Helps energy levels and regulates their temperature
• Speeds recovery time from illness or surgery
• Your pet’s body is 80% water
Signs of Pet Dehydration
• Vomiting
• Lethargy
• Excessive panting
• Sunken, dry eyes
• Dry, pale, and sticky gums
• Loss of skin elasticity
Dehydration is nothing to play around with so if you see any of these signs in your pet, contact your veterinarian.
The Benefits of a Pet Water Fountain
• Clean, filtered water
• Pets like running water
• Fresh water encourages drinking
• Easy to clean
• Styles available to suit every pet
PetSafe Drinkwell® Sedona Pet Fountain
It is important that your pet has access to clean fresh water 24/7. I love our new PetSafe Sedona Fountain (←Affiliate Link). It is whisper quiet and absolutely beautiful. It was even featured on the DIY Network Blog Cabin™ Mountain Retreat 2015!
Bentley took to it right away and began drinking from the fountain and the bowl. Pierre was a bit skittish at first. I think the water action made him leery. Once he saw Bentley enjoy the new Sedona Fountain, he approached it and tasted the water. He realized that it was not only safe but cool fresh water and that’s all it took for him to accept it.
I’m so proud of our new fountain and feel great about the boys having filtered water. The summers on the bayou can be brutal so staying hydrated is very important. After all, they don’t call these the “Dog Days of Summer” for nothing!

That is one cool water fountain!
ReplyDeleteIt is really pawsome!
Deletethe mama want5s such a fountain too... even when I don't like it... then she will use it fur herself... yes, I will do a video of her of course of course ;o)
ReplyDeleteIt is very inviting. I tried to show Pierre it was safe by getting on my hands and knees but he only believed Bentley! ☺
DeleteMom says we usually get better water than she does! Drink up boys, it's hot out there!
ReplyDeleteThe boys drink so much water especially this time of year.
DeleteThis is such a stylish fountain, much nicer than a bowl of water. Running water always encourages drinking - when we're hiking and I pour bottled water for Icy into the bowl, she always sticks her nose in there and drinks the water as it's pouring out. She's so funny!
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Thanks, Cathy! It is so lovely and much better than a regular plain water bowl.
DeleteTimmy growls when his plain water dish splashes him. Not all Poodles are water dogs
ReplyDeleteHahaha! How dare water splash on him!
DeleteThere's a doggie tradition in this house that started with our Patron Saint Old Charisma, to never drink stale water. Our humans refill the spaniel water bowl every few hours, whether it's empty or not. I have tried a water bowl with a fountain type thing in it. It was a lot of fun to splash all the water out and all over the floor. Ghostwriter says I'm incorrigible.
ReplyDeleteI usually change the boys water several times each day but it isn't necessary with the Sedona. I can just imagine you splashing in your bowl ♥
DeleteHappy Pet Parade and weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan & Funny Farmers ♥
DeleteI love the idea of a water fountain for the dogs! Bentley looks like he really enjoys it, too. Sadly, Miley prefers the backyard hose to get her water. lol
ReplyDeleteHahaha! PetSafe does make an awesome outdoor water fountain that Miley might enjoy.
DeleteAt least a 87 sips!! but more if you want to avoid wrinkles.
ReplyDeleteHugs madi your bfff
It's too late to fill up my wrinkles! I will try and I'll definitely pass the word to Mom! BOL! Your pal, Bentley
DeleteThat's a beautiful fountain, and we're glad the boys enjoy it. Purrs
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is a very stylish way to stay hydrated ☺
DeleteLuke misses his fountain but we don't have a good place to put one where we can plug it in, so we have a Torus water bowl instead.
ReplyDeleteKitty Sam has a fountain and she loves hers too!
Jan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
I have never had the opportunity to use a Torus water bowl but have heard great things about it too.
DeleteWhat a cool bowl. Mom calls me a camel
ReplyDeleteEdward (& Lily)
I call Bentley a camel too. He can drink almost a whole regular bowl of water!
DeleteThat's a pawsome fountain. We have one and it really helps us to drink more.
ReplyDeleteI am very pleased with ours. I'm glad that it is helping you drink more water.
DeleteLots, clean & always available. Yup, just like hoomans!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
One of us (Bentley) has a tendency to make the water yucky. I LOVE our new fountain now. ♥ Your buddy, Pierre
DeleteOur dog, R, has obsessive-compulsive disorder, and one of his obsessions is drinking tons and tons of water (to the point that he can damage his kidneys). I laugh to think of him continuously drinking water if he had this fountain!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great for almost every dog besides R!
I really like the look of this fountain! I actually think this is a cool type that Beau would like!
ReplyDeleteYou know how much we love this water bowl Melissa! Enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Sorry to say my gang would destroy that water dish in an instant.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful water bowl. My two oafs would probably knock it over as they are heavy drinkers. 😝
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely water bowl! We have a fountain here, and Gracie and Zoe both love drinking from it. :)
