We recently spent a
Sunday morning at the Houston Zoo. I have mixed emotions about zoos but the one
in Houston is what every zoo should strive to become. The animals are in
beautiful habitats with plenty of room to roam. There are 6,000 animals being fed, given top-notch medical care, and housed in a safe environment. They
all appeared healthy and content. It was wonderful watching our granddaughters
see the enormous animals in real life!
The flamingo
enclosure was gorgeous!
The best leaves are obviously right here...
The ostriches live
with the giraffe. They seem rather oblivious to one another, but I’d like to
imagine a couple of them are best friends.
The giraffe have a lot
of interactive things in their area to keep them entertained.
These monkeys were
excellent rope walkers!
This meerkat was so
cute and scampered all over the stumps.
A weem-a-weh, a
weem-a-weh, a weem-a-weh
In the zoo, the Houston
zoo the lion sleeps today.
I've loved elephants my
entire life. Words can’t describe how excited I was to see this adorable baby
elephant!!
If you are planning a
visit to the Houston area, be sure to add the fabulous Houston Zoo to your agenda.
You might remember the awesome Christmas light display we shared earlier this
year. I’m looking forward to making many memories at the zoo with our granddaughters.

That looks like a great place to visit! What fun!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos. Today's zoos give children (and adults) an understanding and appreciation for wildlife.
ReplyDeleteWish we could visit the zoo too! Mom is waiting for the grands to have a day off before it gets too warm to take them to our KC Zoo.

We love zoos like that. We have one just up the road. Some mornings we can hear the Siamang Apes hooting. If there have to be zoos. Open area ones are the best.
