Pierre vs. the Burrs

Pierre loves to go outside and roll in the clover where these burrs are hiding. His fur is like Velcro® to these prickly nuisances. We picked over 80 from his face alone! Now, you’d think that he’d learn his lesson, but he has not and will continue to get them. In the backyard, there is a tiny little spot where they grow but he can find it each time he goes out! Thankfully, they are almost gone. He does sit perfectly still while we pick each one out.
*These burrs are new to us, but we know to attack them as soon as they appear like clover next spring.

  2. Oh no, Pierre - but we clearly see that you are a very patient boy about having them removed, which is a very helpful thing. I have had this happen before and mom sprays conditioner on me and combs them out. Nope - we never learn from our mistakes, do we☺

  3. I'm a burr magnet myself but I don't sit still to get them picked out. Burrs are nothing but trouble.

  4. Pierre, our feral cat Hobo showed up one day with huge burrs stuck on his back! I tried to coax him into allowing me to pull them out, but he never let me touch him...not ever. We don't have any in our yard, so there must be burr plants in the alley.

  6. Those burrs can be a real pain! Lucky we don't have anything like that in our yard. I hope none of them poked you in the eye.

  7. Jumpin' catfish Pierre...I know it must be very hard for you to sit still through the picking off of the burrs. Thank goodness it isn't porcupine quills. I've seen those on pups on the Vet shows so very painful

  8. Ugh, burr season...which means fox tails will soon be on our horizon. Nasty Velcro plants and dogs with hair don't mix!

  9. Burrs are one of the few things about Texas Mama doesn't miss LOL. What a patient guy Pierr is, we boys used to wiggle and squirm while Mama tried to get our burrs out!

  11. Oh Pierre, we bet it feels good at the time, but getting those burrs pulled out has to be no fun.

  12. OH, that must be so annoying both for Pierre and the burr-plucker. Hope they aren't painful.
