Silver Paw Pet Tags

Karen from Silver Paw Pet Tags recently contacted me.  She asked if I’d like to receive one of their fantastic silver dog tags for a review.  Since I have all but given up on finding a regular dog tag that would last, I was happy to oblige.  When I told her that Pierre was also living with us for now, she offered to send us two tags!  I was very excited and contacted my daughter, Pierre’s mom, and asked her which design she would like for her boy.  Since we both have paw prints on our hearts, we chose the same style.  They do have several different designs to choose.  Click here to see them.  Bentley and Pierre were very happy to have an engraved name tag of their very own, but I’ll let them tell you.
Pierre: “Thanks Gramma.  Since Bentley hogged the entire blog yesterday, I get to do the lead-in for today.  A couple of weeks ago, we told you about a new QR dog tag that we received from PawPrintsID. You can see it here.  They are really cool, but some of our readers were worried that people wouldn’t know how to read them.  Mostly, I think it'd be really old people like Gramma.  No offense, okay?  *heehee*  Anyway, we told them that they could be worn in addition to a regular dog tag and microchipping.  You can never be too careful!”
Bentley: “That’s very true Pierre.  Some dogs, like you, are bolters and run with total disregard to getting lost.  Pet owners need to do all they can to make sure their pets are returned safely.  I do need to correct one thing.  Silver Paws pet tags are anything but regular.  I know that personally, I can wear out those

flimsier dog tags in no time.  I think it may have something to do with all of the extra skin under my neck.  Never the less, I would go outside in the backyard and whoosh…cheapo tag was gone!  Poor Mom always went out and made a futile attempt to find it and if she did manage to find it, the little doo-hickey loop that holds it to my collar was worn through.”
Me: “It’s true.  I don’t even want to think about how many of the inexpensive tags I have watched those store machines engrave.  I finally gave up on buying them.  That is certainly not a problem with the Silver Paw dog tags.”
Pierre: “Gramma!  Let me tell them!  Our new ones are the most durable, unique, and original tags that are available on the market today.  Not to mention that I look fabulous with my new bling!  I’m glad that my mom chose the paw print with the heart.  You know that she loves me so much that my paws are definitely on her heart.  Did you notice that my new last name is on the back?”
Bentley: “I did notice that.  Your dad is going to be so proud!  I noticed that you didn’t get an address engraved on yours.  Mine has my name, city, and Mom’s cell phone number.  She opted to use that in case we move or something.  You know, they always talk about moving.  Of course, if we did move to a different city, she could send my tag back and for $8.00 they will engrave our new information.  They do that because these tags are meant to last a lifetime.  How awesome is that?  The extra cool thing is that it is a great looking tag.  Plus, since it is made with 1/8” stainless steel, they won’t rust, scratch, bend, turn black, or discolor our coats.  Even the doo-hickey loops won’t wear thru.”
Me: “You’re right about that Bentley.  Silver Paw dog tags come with a lifetime guarantee.  They are made using a lost wax casting process at New England Castings in Maine.  The foundry employs 20 skilled people that are all very detail oriented.  After a careful inspection, they are brought to the Silver Paw shop where they are finished and engraved.  You can see a video of the process here.  The amount of work that goes into making these great tags is really incredible.”
Bentley: “That would be an interesting job.  Do you think they hire Basset Hounds?  Probably not, since they used a lot of really hot stuff like fire.  Did y’all mention the sturdy ¾” S-hook that was included with our tags?  They sent two types of connectors with each tag.  Besides the S-hook, they sent a stainless steel split ring.  Mom opted to use the thick S-ring on our collars because we tend to do some serious wrestling.  A durable tag deserves some equally strong attachment hardware.  Dad had to use some pliers to squeeze the ends together.  Our tags are very secure now.”
Pierre is so proud of his new tag!
Pierre: “I have my new last name on mine because my dad married both my mom and me.  We are a package deal and he loves us both.  I told Gramma to take me to my personal groomer for a summer haircut.  I want the girls to be able to see my fancy ID tag.  I’m not going to give it to any of them though, even if I do ask one to go steady with me.  This is my forever tag and I love it.”
Bentley: “Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.  Of course, my girlfriend has her own Silver Paw dog tag.  It’s always best to fall for a girl with the same great taste as you.  Did you know that Silver Paw offers three sizes of their tags?  You can choose from small, medium, or large depending on the size of the dog.  Ours are both medium sized and they fit perfectly on us.  They range in price from $24.95 to $28.95.  Now before you say that is expensive, consider how many five-dollar bills that most pet parents lay down for cheap tags.  I know Mom has bought me at least six over the years.  Guess how many I've lost or broke.  Ummm, six!”
Me: “Well, you boys did another great job on your review.  We want to give a big thanks to Silver Paw Dog Tags for these gorgeous tags.  Are you ready to give your paws up?  One paw means you don’t like the product and five paws mean it’s a hit.”
Pierre: “Yes ma’am.  Let’s do this!”
The boys’ rating is unanimous!

  3. That is pawsome that you have one too now. Bailie got her new one about a week after BlogPaws. They never did find the one they lost at daycare. The S hook is secure, but we switch collars a lot so it is not real practical for us. Enjoy!

  6. We live in the Bermuda Triangle of lost tags. At least once a week a tag will go missing, never to be found. My dogs seem to want to be incognito (indognito?) Perhaps an investment is in order.
