We are huge fans of the PetSafe line of products. Bentley and Pierre have reviewed indigo Dental Bones and Sticks a couple of times and even held giveaways! It was a no-brainer when we were asked if they would enjoy trying PetSafe’s indigo Smokehouse Strips™ for a review.
"I'm not fakin' this is bacon!" |
Me: “Boys! Are y’all ready to write our review of the Bacon and Chicken Smokehouse Strips? Come on, it’s for Tasty Tuesday.”
Bentley: “When it comes to tasty, these treats turn any day into a tasty day! It is so nice to be able to eat meaty jerky treats made from fresh, premium cuts of meat. These Smokehouse Strips are 100% made in the U.S.A. with U.S. raised chicken and pork.”
Pierre: “That's true. Since the Chinese jerky scare, we haven’t seen too many jerky treats around here. These have made it worth the wait. The USDA inspected the smoked and cured treats and found them free of by-products, wheat, corn, and soy. I think I’ve made my feelings of “by-products” well known. Just in case you’ve forgotten, I am not a fan!”
"These SmokeHouse Strips are a perfect size." |
Me: “No, I haven’t forgotten your feelings. These strips don’t contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives either. It is simply a delicious meaty snack for you guys to love.”
Bentley: “It’s the first meaty treat like this to come vacuum-sealed for safety and freshness. To prove how fresh it is, they include a bag for us to slide the treats in and refrigerate. The box says if we don’t eat them in three days, we need to put them in the fridge. I volunteered to eat the entire bag before our three days were up, but Mom felt that was a bit overzealous. Sigh”
Pierre: “I’m glad Gramma refrigerated them. She just peels them off and hands them to us. Then, she reseals the bag and they go back in the fridge until we talk her into another sample.”
Me: “Did either of you read the ingredients? They sound like they could be on a human snack. Pork or Chicken is the first ingredient on both. After the meat, they add brown sugar, natural liquid smoke, condensed cultured skim milk, sea salt, green tea, and rosemary extract. Seriously, those are people ingredients. I’m tempted to take a bite of these!”
"Smokehouse Strips come vacuum-sealed with a resealable bag of the fridge!" |
Bentley: “Let me go ahead and put these Strips away. You don’t want to start snacking on our treats. People already think you’re a bit obsessed with your dogs. If they know you sample our Smokehouse Strips, well…it won’t look good.”
Pierre: “Listen to Bentley; it’s for your own good. I love these Strips as much as I love the indigo Dental Bones and Sticks. How about you?”
Bentley: “Well, I love them very much. It’s just that I also love PetSafe’s indigo Dental Bones and Sauce. Can I love them both?
"Mom says Slappy has been loved too hard to be photographed. This one is from PetSafe's site." |
Me: “Of course you can. I’ll let you in on a little secret too. You know your Pogo Plush® Slap Happy?”
Bentley: “Yes ma’am.”
Me: “Your Slap Happy “Slappy” is also made by our friends at PetSafe!”
Bentley: “Oh my dog! That is one of my very best toys! You brought my Pogo Plush® Slap Happy back from BlogPaws 2014. We named him Slappy because I shake him so hard that my ears and his legs slap together. He doesn’t have stuffing in his body, so Pierre can’t kill him. We play really hard with him too. Slappy still squeaks after tons of biting. How can one company make three of my favorite things? PetSafe is awesome!”
Pierre: “They really know what dogs love best! Gramma even posted a review of your Slappy on their website. She gave him five stars.
Me: “It’s time for you boys to give you’re ap~paws of approval. One paw is the lowest and of course five paws is the highest.
We received two indigo Smokehouse Strips in exchange for an honest review. There was no monetary compensation. Barking from the Bayou only reviews products that we believe in and our audience would enjoy knowing about.

You may remember Gunny from a while back. He is still waiting for a loving home. I wanted you to see how wonderful he looks after some love and attention from the awesome people at PetSavers.
This second boy reminds me of Slimdoggy’s Jack. I see the possibility for Big Mac to become a healthy happy senior like Jack. He needs someone to feed him a balanced diet and get him some much-needed exercise.
Five stars that sure is tasty. Have a terrific Tuesday.
