Let me start this post out with a confession. Before I joined the world of social media, I used to tell my daughter that her friends on the internet weren’t “real” friends. It was hard for me to believe that you could be friends with someone that you never met, in some cases had never seen a photo of, and had never heard their voice. I think one of the signs of good parenting is being able to admit when you are wrong. Boy, was I ever wrong. I’m not sure what it says about me, but I consider my online friends to be my best friends. We discuss things, we cry for each other, and I feel closer to them than most of my local friends. It also helps that the majority of my cyber friends are as dog or cat crazy as I am. Most of my local friends just don’t get it. That’s okay; I don’t get a lot of the things they are into either. My cyber friends have never let me down and I trust them. That is one of the reasons that I loved going to the BlogPaws
conference. It felt like I was joining a group of my truly amazing friends. It is also why I wish I could attend the 2016 Blogville Awesome Retreat. I know more about what is going on in my blogger friends’ lives than I do most of my relatives’ lives. I say this to let you know that I truly do love and care about my readers and all of the bloggers that are my true friends.

One of my newest friends is the author of Military Wife and Pug Life. If you haven’t discovered her blog yet, I can tell you that you are missing some great laughs. I want to thank her for nominating me to join this fun quote hop.
I have to say this is much harder than I originally thought. Not because I had to find three quotes that I love, but because I am a certified “quotaholic” and picking three is probably the hardest thing I’ve done. These are not necessarily my three favorites but are simply three that spoke to me today. That is the thing about quotes, there is one for every mood that you experience. Most of the quotes that I love are about positive thinking and laughter. That’s because to me those are the most important things in life next to love. So without further ramblings, here are my entries in the Quote Hop.
“A ship is safe in the harbor, but that is not what ships are for.”
~William G.T. Shedd
“For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
~ Walt Disney
Now, I would be remiss not to include my own quote that has been shared around the world and landed me in the 50 Famous Quotes about Dogs between Agatha Christie and Charles DeGaulle among other incredible places. People often feel the need to add “and cats” to this quote and that is okay except it is from my book, The Returns 2~ Showstoppers and is spoken by Miss Gitty, the wise old cat in the story.
“The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.”
~ M. K. Clinton
The rules of the Quote Hop are as follows:
1) Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2) Post three of your favorite quotes (this can be done all in one post or on three consecutive days).
3) Nominate 3 bloggers and challenge them.
I am challenging Love is being owned by a Husky, My GBGV Life, and Murphy & Stanley.
You may have noticed that my Twitter share buttons only work if you remove my name at the beginning of the tweet. I have tried for months to correct this problem. It is obviously a glitch with my initials and Twitter. It is something that Twitter must address. Until they resolve the problem, I would appreciate you sharing my embedded tweet with your followers. For those of you that have tried to tweet or have assisted me in helping find the problem, I thank you.
♥Melissa

Funny thing is, my blog post for today coincides with what you wrote me lol lol. I wrote it last week tho (I prewrote so we could go out of town, how is this blogging "hobby" becoming so demanding lol?)
ReplyDeleteBut I promise promise, I'll email you back very soon. :):)

ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome post! I love all these quotes and am proud and appreciative to have you as a friend!!
ReplyDeleteLove all your quotations, but especially what you said about online friends. I used to say the same thing you told your daughter. I was wrong, too :-)
ReplyDeleteOnline friends are amazing and it is so special when you do actually meet up in person at some point! I will have to get busy and think about my favorite three quotes. You already took some good ones, but one we live by is still available!
ReplyDeleteLove all those quotes! Ma would have to agree that a long, long time ago she thought online friends weren't "real" either but boy has Blogville taught her that she was wrong! And...it is great when we get to meet our online friends in person!
ReplyDeleteOz
I've thought about this so many times lately and it's so true. My cyber friends are truly my very best friends and the ones who understand me the most. And you may quote me on that! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful group of quotes!! We have to agree with you regarding online friends, they are among the best friends we have ever had!!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post today for so many reasons but before I forget there is a typo in your quote! (Sorry, you know me!! It is where "is" is, should be "if")
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling us about the golden blog, we didn't know them!!
Also, I am a quote freak too and I have a most amazing book called "10,000 Quips and Quotes" that you would LOVE!!
I also agree that my online friends are much closer to me than many of my friends who are in close proximity. They "get" me!
Thanks, Caren! ♥ #TypoBlind
DeleteI'm sure it's easy to become a quotaholic; they're all beautifully meaningful!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the magazine feature. Cool idea for a challenge, I love inspirational quotes. We have been featuring them on Mondays recently.
ReplyDeleteThat really is true. Now if I can only get to Blog Paws!
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Well thanks for the nomination! I'd be happy to join!!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love quotes! LOL! And yours is absolutely amazing, and it's no wonder it has been shared worldwide!
It's funny you mention your thoughts toward internet pals in the past, because I was the exact same way!!! Heck, I didn't even have internet up until a couple years ago because I thought I simply didn't need it, and wanted to stay away from the online drama of FB etc... however, I couldn't imagine my life without it now!! I have became very close friends with quite a few people, and of course you are right on top of that list! (((hugs)))
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I used to think the same, how can someone you've never met in person be a real friend, but now I have some close online friends and I can't wait to meet them someday! Oh no, you're not going to Blogpaws next year? Waaa!! I am and was so hoping to meet you face to face ~RascalandRocco
ReplyDeleteOh no, I already have my ticket to BlogPaws! There is a Blogville Awesome Retreat next year too. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make that one and it is going to be so many of my friends. (Keeping paws crossed) There's a link to it above. ☺
DeleteI laughingly told someone last week that "I don't have any "real" friends, I have internet friends. But it is true - I feel like my online friends are my true friends
ReplyDeletehugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
These online friends are gonna get even more real next June! We're driving 3 days to get there and Dory will be driving 4 days. It will be worth it!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Love these quotes! And we have lots of online furiends. The special thing about all of them? They are animal lovers. And it's always wonderful to get to meet them in purrrrson. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are all great quotes. So many that aren't bloggers never understand the relationships we have online.
ReplyDeleteMy husband used to say the same thing about online friends. I think he's finally stopped saying it since I went to the conference! I agree with you so much. I have some close friends and family, but often it seems like they are always busy with their own lives and don't have time for me. I never feel that way with my blog friends.
ReplyDeleteLove your quotes and the photos that go with them as well!
Jan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
I love quotes too, those were some good ones. I cherish my online friends too and so glad you are in my life!
ReplyDeleteI used to think the same thing! I guess we're both eating Humble Pie right now, huh? So pass the whipped cream, my dear & true internet friend, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
What a great post and quotes M.K.! Mommy understands completely what you were saying about online friends too! And congrats on the success of your personal quote. Spencer challenged me to the Quote Hop and I am working on my post tonight...gonna use some of my Pixelism quotes myself. Hope everyone likes them! Sending hugs to you, Pierre and Bentley.
