FURminator Nation

After a nice long shower, Bentley did feel much better.  It amazed him to see all of the hair he lost while he shampooed.  Apparently, Basset Hounds were shedders.  At this rate, he figured to be bald in a few short weeks.  He was still not too sure about this whole dog thing, but at least he was alive.
Exert from The Returns  by M. K. Clinton
If you are a pet parent shedding is a way of life. Those of us that live with heavy shedders can appreciate the above exert. When my main character is returned to earth in the body of a Basset Hound, shedding is just one of the things he discovers.
FURminator Comfort Edge deShedding Tool in package
The FURminator® was one of the best investments that I have made to combat shedding. We have used our original one for years.
The first time that we were introduced to the FURminator deShedding tool was at the veterinarian’s office. There was a video playing about this new phenomenon. At the time, we had our Golden Retriever and Bentley. These two combined to make the perfect shedding machines! We decided to give it a try. It is one of the few things that I have ever purchased that truly work as advertised. We have been “FURminating” several times a week since that fateful day.
Basset Hound getting "FURminated"
You can imagine my excitement when I saw the new FURminator Comfort Edge deShedding Tool. Not only does it offer Max Comfort and Performance for the dogs, it fits so much more comfortably in my hand. The ergonomic handle makes gripping a breeze. It can be used on both long and short-haired pets. The curved stainless steel edge conforms to the pet’s natural shape. This is why it is recommended and used by vets, groomers, and other pet professionals. I certainly recommend it to anyone that is living with a shedder.  We even brush Pierre with ours. Although he is supposed to be a minimal shedder, it still keeps him looking and feeling great.
When you brush with the FURminator, you are able to safely remove loose hair along with the undercoat. There is no need to worry about damaging the coat or cutting the skin. It actually stimulates the natural oil production which will promote a healthy shiny coat.

The one thing that has been a pain with my original FURminator is constantly had to stop and pull the hair out of the fine toothed comb. I noticed they solved that problem a few years ago with the introduction of the FURjector® button. It is also featured on this new model. Let me tell you, it makes all of the difference in the world. All I have to do is push the handy button and the hair falls right off. Hallelujah!
I never thought that anything could take the place of my original FURminator. It turns out that the only thing that could is the NEW FURminator Comfort Edge deShedding tool.

  5. Just as a note - furminators are terrible for long hair coats - they actually cut the fur rather then go through it.

  11. Ohh we love your hug/heart photo.
Mom has considered the Furminator for me but she is wondering if it is very noisy?
I'm love being brushed but am not a fan of noises and she doesn't want me to become afraid of brushing

  13. Pugs are BIG shedders and we have a furminator. But we do not like being brushed very well. Mom's fault for not started when we were young. Mabel gets brushed almost everyday - to stimulate her skin and hair regrowth

  20. oooh, we like the new curved blade. We LOVE our furminators and couldn't agree with you more: they are one of the few things that OVER delivered on our expectations!

(We're so sorry we've been AWOL. Our other granddad fell ill 3 weeks ago & passed away last Wednesday. We've been home alone for much of that time while our humans were out of town helping. *sigh* Our humans lost both their dads in 4 months. They are kind of hoping 2016 will be better...)
