We
always enjoy Book Lover’s Day because that describes us perfectly. Before Mama
began blogging, she would read an average of one book every two days. She
worked in a high school library so books were her life. Her first adventure into blogging was all about writing.
Some
of her all-time favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Nora Roberts.
That’s a weird combination of scary and romance. She has hundreds of books and
we were happy when she started reading on her Kindle or we’d have to open our
own library! The Returns book series are Amazon affiliate links |
As
most of you know, she has written two books. They are The Returns and TheReturns 2~Showstoppers. Both books are funny adventures about humans who die
too early and are sent to the “Returns” department of heaven where they are
placed in other bodies to fulfill their life’s destiny. In their cases, they
all return in the bodies of dogs or cats! They have a “rookie” Guardian Angel
named Faith Fullilove who takes care of them but isn’t the best cook in the world. Here is a short exert from Chapter 1:
Bentley
slowly recalled being shot and seeing angels. “Wait a minute. They said that I
would be matched to a body similar to the one I left. I fail to see where the
similarities match. And quit scratching my dang ears. How can I be a stinkin’
dog?!”
“We must never put a question mark where God puts a period, Bentley. Only a few souls are chosen to become dogs. It is the noblest of assignments. That is why dog is God spelled backwards,” she explained.
“Seriously, that is your explanation? Look at the way you turned out. You were gorgeous in Heaven and you look the same way here. Why aren’t you some kind of poodle? This is so not fair. I am nothing like I was before. I have to believe that another mistake has been made.” He whined as his back leg began scratching under his belly involuntarily.
"Well, that is not true. You kept your beautiful brown eyes, your black hair, firm square jaw and your badge number. You are quite an outstanding specimen of a Basset Hound. Show quality, I dare say,” Faith told him.
If
you think you’d enjoy The Returns series, they are available on Amazon in
digital or paperback! You can read them FREE if you are member of Kindle Unlimited.“We must never put a question mark where God puts a period, Bentley. Only a few souls are chosen to become dogs. It is the noblest of assignments. That is why dog is God spelled backwards,” she explained.

read, you are too busy!
We are joining our buddy Ranger the Scottie for his Wacky August Holiday Challenge.
My momma luvs reading too! And she's read both of your momma's books and really liked em!
ReplyDeleteThank so much! Pierre hopes that you like his photo on Showstoppers!
DeleteYour mom's books sound wonderful, Bentley and Pierre! Make sure you have some melon with your book reading. Today is National Melon Day too!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, we would love us some watermelon! Happy Book Lovers & Melon Day!
DeleteMy Gramma is into books and she still works at a library, I mean volunteers. My mom, on the other paw is not into books at all. If she reads one a year, that is a lot. She has never liked reading, but she loves to write.
ReplyDeleteIt is always surprising to me when people don't like to read but I think it's because I love reading so much.
DeleteHello there! Good to meet you.
ReplyDeleteHi Katie Isabella! It is great to meet you. Thanks for stopping by the bayou!
DeleteI love Stephen King (He owns a Corgi!) and Dean Koontz (Watchers, my all time favorite!), Nora Roberts not so much :-). I am reading a really old Koontz right now!
ReplyDeleteWatcher's is one of my all-time favorite books. It is why I got my Golden Retriever Tucker and although he couldn't type, he was 100% Golden perfection.
DeleteOh no! As authors, we can't believe we missed this day! I'm telling our mom to make sure to write it on the calendar for next year. She loves to read all kinds of books, from biographies to thrillers, non-fiction to period romances. She really loves fantasy though.
ReplyDeleteI love thrillers and romance but a good comedy fiction will capture my heart every single time!
DeleteMy Mum reads alot as well...sumthingy due to making the daily train commute bearable
ReplyDeleteLoves and licky kisses
Princess Leah xxx
I would definitely read if I had to ride a commuter train each day!
DeleteWe love your books! They are such a fun read and always leaving us with a smile! Mom wishes she had more time to read!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I am glad that we could make you smile.
DeleteWe share your love for reading and for King and Koontz. Must investigate this Clinton writer that you speak of. We are finally getting more time to read.
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to read my books! We seem to find the same things funny so I'm sure you'd enjoy them.
DeleteHappy Book Lover's Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLove those ears!
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks and thank you for visiting!
DeleteMommy needs to relax and read like she use to.
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
I need to pick up reading again so I'll be inspired to finish my third book!
DeleteMy auntie reads a lot of books like you, Miss Melissa. Your books sound interesting, especially if they include kitty cats! What human wouldn't want to come back as a cat?! Purrs & hugs! -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews
ReplyDeleteThere are two cats in both books and they both play MAJOR roles in them. I hope you read them.
DeleteWe should have a Blogville Library so Blogville authors can show their works!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
I think that is a grand idea!
DeleteJust got an Amazon gift card. May read one. Usually, stick to history..not much fiction. Might be time for a change.
ReplyDeleteWe would be honored!
DeleteI used to read about that much before I started blogging too! Stephen King scared me, I couldn't read his books, but I love Dean Koontz and Nora Roberts too. Some of her trilogies were my favorites, and I always loved that Dean had the best dogs in his books. "Fear Nothing" and its sequel were my all time favorites!
ReplyDeleteJan, Wag 'n Woof Pets
There are some Stephen King books that are super scary but I love them! I always say that Dean Koontz is scary but never kills your favorite characters. LOL! I'm a huge NOra Roberts fan and her J. D. Robb books.
DeleteI started reading Cujo, and it gave me nightmares two chapters in so I gave up, and never tried one of his books again! LOL...I'm a wimp, I don't watch horror movies either. Dean Koontz was scary too, but for some reason I could take his...must have been why you said! :)
DeleteI didn't like to read until I was 16. I can't do scary. Currently I am working through the family bookcase and reading my grea-aunt's 1915 copy of R.L.Stevenson's New Arabian Nights. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds very interesting!
DeleteMom loves Stephen King and Dean Koontz too.
ReplyDeletehugs
Hazel & Mabel
They are the only authors that I read for many years before I branched out into other genres!
DeleteThe mom used to read a lot more books before she started blogging. Now she reads blogs!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to make time to read books when there are so many blogs to visit!
DeleteSweet! You boys are practically famous! Mom puts me in her books all the time, but nobody wants to publish them! What a bummer.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
I self-published both of my books! The boys think they are cover dogs!
DeleteApparently hundreds of thosands of New Zealanders have not picked up a book this year. Sheesh maybe if they turned off the TV instead of crashing in frm of it all night eh?
ReplyDeleteWe get through dozens of books!!!!
I love reading and disappearing into a world of fantasy. I do find that I prefer most books to their movie adaptations.
DeleteLove reading and both of your books!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Denise!
DeleteLoved your return books!
ReplyDeleteThanks, JoAnn! Your gang would make great characters, especially Gambler!
DeleteI never knew there was such a thing! Thanks for enlightening me/us/!
ReplyDeleteI was always such a bookworm! Now that I'm a blogger I don't get to read many books, there's no time! I loved Stephen King too, my all-time faves are The Dead Zone and Pet Cemetery.
ReplyDeleteLove & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
