How to Find the Perfect Dog Groomer

If you have a dog that requires regular grooming like Pierre, it is so important to find a groomer that you trust. Since moving to Texas, we have only had Pierre groomed one time. That means that it is past time to find our boy a groomer that we love. It is not easy, but we do have some tips that will help. I have several groomers that I am checking on but really need to make a firm decision soon. After all, nobody wants a bad hair day!

  1. that are good tips...specially n°3... if we see the results we can imagine how our pet will look... and then it will not happen that a terrier gets a poodle cut (the whole family cried as we saw our whft-poodle)

  2. We are lucky we found our groomer. It turns out she is now a competitive groomer and also knows a GBGV breeder in Florida as he has Cocker Spaniels which is her specialty. She would not even agree to groom me until she had time to study up on the breed and learn the correct way to do my furs. She is awesome and we are fortunate to have her. Good luck Pierre, it is not easy finding a great groomer.

  5. Good luck with the final cut. I guard my groomer like she's gold (which she is). Sadly, we've been the victim of more than one bad hair cut when we've gone to a big box store with grooming salon in it. 😕 Finally decided to avoid those since you never got the same groomer twice.

  9. Our groomer has owned her business for 26 years and hasn't gone bonkers.

  10. We don't have many groomers to choose from in our area. Sheba was the only one we needed grooming for, and luckily one of the vet techs at our vet's office was doing it. Sheba knew her and was comfortable there. Thank goodness Luke is a short-haired dog so we don't have to worry about it with him! With all of his issues, that would be yet another challenge!
We hope you find the perfect groomer for Pierre.

  11. OMD, I WISH I had a groomer!!!! HOLY VAN GOGH! You knows what happens when Ma gets near me with sharp objects....I'm lucky to have both ears! sigh. Ma says it's too late to start nows, so sadly, I will never know the joy of a good furcut. *sniff, sniff*

  12. Ghostwriter says she used to take her doggies to Miss Rita, who was a cocker spaniel specialist and breeder. She took her time and never let the doggies get stressed out. Her house was always a disaster, but she was an excellent groomer. (Miss Ginger and Joey dog were pups from Miss Rita.) When she retired, we went to Miss Jacquie at the vet. I love Miss Jacquie!
