If you have a dog, spring means they're spending lots of time outside chasing squirrels and butterflies. It is also the time when they come indoors with scratches and cuts from unknown sources. That is why it is so important to have a jar of Dr. Harvey’s Healing Cream in the first aid kit.

Here on the Bayou, rainy days used to mean a lot of wet towels and one stinky Basset Hound. That was before Bentley's new PrideBites raincoat arrived. Now, he can go outside to do his business or take a walk without getting drenched. This makes both of us very happy.
It is not easy to find clothes that fit Bentley. It is a common complaint among many pet parents. That is one of the things that I love about PrideBites. They offer sizes from XXS to XXL so it is easy to fit almost any size and shape.

Pierre: “When Mom mentioned it was time for spring cleaning, I had no idea that she meant me! I was taken to my favorite PetSmart groomer, Miss Ann. She loves me and always does a terrier-rific job on my fur. I feel so soft and since it is already in the upper 80’s here on the Bayou, it is much cooler without all that extra fluff. Bentley brags that he has wash and wear hair because he never has to get a haircut. He does shed like crazy though so he has to get brushed every day. I am not a fan of brushing so I avoid it as much as I can. So tell me, do you take your dog to the groomer for a haircut or are they wash and wear too?”

|Barking from the Bayou received RedBarn products in exchange for our honest review. We only share products that we feel will be of benefit to our readers. RedBarn is not responsible for the contents of this article.|
Bentley and Pierre are so excited to share their newest loves. They are a wide variety of treats from RedBarn Naturals. We met the representatives of RedBarn last year at the BlogPaws™ conference and the boys loved their samples. When our big box full of treats arrived last week, they went berserk! Their noses hit the box and they were jumping up and down in excitement. I was excited to get an awesome RedBarn tote bag!

Bentley Basset Hound: Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have kept our nose to the ground sniffing out the best stories to share. Let’s turn to my co-anchor for our top story. Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “You know how much we enjoy a hero story and this one is incredible. A mixed-breed dog named Peanut was rescued a little over a year ago from a shelter. She was in terrible condition but with the love of her new family, she is doing great.

Pierre: “I am super stoked to be able to
take over write today’s blog post. Mom placed a PrideBites order and one of the things she selected is this amazing microfleece blanket. I was quick to show Bentley that it has MY name on it. He wanted to stretch out on it as soon as it arrived. I can’t blame him because it is the softest blanket that I’ve ever felt.

It’s National Puppy Day and if you are like me, puppy fever is easier to catch than the common cold. All I need is one whiff of puppy breath and I’m in the throes of an uncontrollable desire to hear the pitter patter, pitter patter of four tiny paws.
What’s not to love about a puppy? They are adorable furry balls of fun and kisses. It is difficult to think of any reason not to add a new puppy to the household, right?
Now that I think about it, there is a cure for puppy fever. You just need to remember your last puppy. Puppies are HARD WORK!
1. They don’t sleep through the night which means you don’t either.
Accidents happen a lot and you will need plenty of time, paper towels, and patience to house train your new bundle of joy.
2. Everything that fits goes into a puppy’s mouth and possibly their tummy. Large objects such as shoes or furniture become expensive chew toys.

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched some very interesting pet reports to share with you. What is our top story, Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “It was easy to select the best feel-good story this week. A goldfish was brought into a San Antonio pet shop by its owners because it couldn’t swim. The problem was a defective swim bladder. The awesome employees devised a type of “wheelchair”. They used a counterbalance on the bottom of the device so that the fish could swim around. You can enjoy the video to put an extra smile on your face.”

March is Poison Prevention month. Instead of the most common household poisons; I want to share one that you might not think about when it comes to your pets. Cigarettes.
There are countless reasons to kick the cigarette habit. You know how bad they are for your health. The price of a carton has risen to ridiculous prices. If you pay $7 for a pack of cigarettes, and smoke a pack per day, in ten years you will spend $25,550! Your clothes, hair, and breath smell like stale tobacco.

If you drive through northwest Louisiana via I-20, keep an eye for downtown Shreveport. In addition to our mixture of ornate old buildings and modern architecture, you will see the largest publicly funded art murals in the country. The Once in a Millennium Moon mural is on two sides of the AT&T building at the corner of Cotton and McNeill Streets. It is an incredible 30,000 square feet mural and was the brainchild of artist Meg Saligman.

Today we are sharing a few of our favorite memes. Mom is having some issues with her knee and spent the day at the doctor. She got a shot and some meds so hopefully, she will feel better soon. Until then, she is going to be whining and walking with crutches. #DramaMama

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for March 6, 2017. We have fetched the good stories from across the globe to start your week off with a smile. What is our top story, Pierre?”
Pierre Westie: “A dog is being credited with saving his Nova Scotia family when their snow fort collapsed on top of them. The father, his two sons and a friend were inside their fort when the roof suddenly fell, trapping the man’s arms and legs. He heard barking and felt this five-year-old Golden Retriever tugging on his jacket. Once the dog had pulled him out, he hollered for neighbors to come help him dig the children out. He shared his story to warn others of the dangers of homemade snow forts.”

Spring has sprung here on the bayou. Our flowers are blooming much earlier than they normally do and temperatures are already in the upper 80’s. I have to admit that we didn’t have much of a winter at all. Seeing all of the freezing weather in other places makes me wonder what happened here. We don’t usually get snow but at least have days where we need a coat. Not this season, I think we had one really cold weekend. We are ahead of schedule but we have to say, “Welcome Spring!”
