Five Cures for Puppy Fever

It’s National Puppy Day and if you are like me, puppy fever is easier to catch than the common cold. All I need is one whiff of puppy breath and I’m in the throes of an uncontrollable desire to hear the pitter patter, pitter patter of four tiny paws.
What’s not to love about a puppy? They are adorable furry balls of fun and kisses. It is difficult to think of any reason not to add a new puppy to the household, right?
Now that I think about it, there is a cure for puppy fever. You just need to remember your last puppy. Puppies are HARD WORK!
Love a puppy! Happy National Puppy Day with Paisley the Lab sleeping
1. They don’t sleep through the night which means you don’t either.
Accidents happen a lot and you will need plenty of time, paper towels, and patience to house train your new bundle of joy.
2. Everything that fits goes into a puppy’s mouth and possibly their tummy. Large objects such as shoes or furniture become expensive chew toys.

3. Puppies are expensive. You’ll make several trips to the veterinarian for shots and check-ups. That doesn’t include the emergency runs after they’ve eaten something unhealthy. (see cure #2)
4. Those baby teeth are SHARP! It is not unusual for puppies to teeth on your hand when you least expect it.

5. You will be spending the next few months saying "No" and "Don't eat that!"

Do you have puppy fever? I won’t try to talk you out of it. You know what you are getting into when you decide to add another member to your family. Remember that the puppy stage doesn’t last forever so cherish each day no matter how crazy some of those days might be. The most important thing to know about puppy fever is that your dog will share your life for the next ten to fifteen years. While that might seem like a long time, in reality, it is never long enough.

BFTB NETWoof News March 20 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched some very interesting pet reports to share with you. What is our top story, Pierre?”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story is a goldfish with a wheelchair
Pierre Westie: “It was easy to select the best feel-good story this week. A goldfish was brought into a San Antonio pet shop by its owners because it couldn’t swim. The problem was a defective swim bladder. The awesome employees devised a type of “wheelchair”. They used a counterbalance on the bottom of the device so that the fish could swim around. You can enjoy the video to put an extra smile on your face.”

Cigarettes and Pets

March is Poison Prevention month. Instead of the most common household poisons; I want to share one that you might not think about when it comes to your pets. Cigarettes.
There are countless reasons to kick the cigarette habit. You know how bad they are for your health. The price of a carton has risen to ridiculous prices. If you pay $7 for a pack of cigarettes, and smoke a pack per day, in ten years you will spend $25,550! Your clothes, hair, and breath smell like stale tobacco.

Shreveport's Once in a Millennium Moon

Shreveport's Once in a Millennium Moon mural

If you drive through northwest Louisiana via I-20, keep an eye for downtown Shreveport. In addition to our mixture of ornate old buildings and modern architecture, you will see the largest publicly funded art murals in the country. The Once in a Millennium Moon mural is on two sides of the AT&T building at the corner of Cotton and McNeill Streets. It is an incredible 30,000 square feet mural and was the brainchild of artist Meg Saligman.

Drama Mama Memes

Today we are sharing a few of our favorite memes. Mom is having some issues with her knee and spent the day at the doctor. She got a shot and some meds so hopefully, she will feel better soon. Until then, she is going to be whining and walking with crutches. #DramaMama

BFTB NETWoof News March 6 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for March 6, 2017. We have fetched the good stories from across the globe to start your week off with a smile. What is our top story, Pierre?”
BFTB NETWoof News Top Story is a collapsed snow fort rescue
Pierre Westie: “A dog is being credited with saving his Nova Scotia family when their snow fort collapsed on top of them.  The father, his two sons and a friend were inside their fort when the roof suddenly fell, trapping the man’s arms and legs. He heard barking and felt this five-year-old Golden Retriever tugging on his jacket. Once the dog had pulled him out, he hollered for neighbors to come help him dig the children out. He shared his story to warn others of the dangers of homemade snow forts.”

Spring Time on the Bayou

Spring has sprung here on the bayou. Our flowers are blooming much earlier than they normally do and temperatures are already in the upper 80’s. I have to admit that we didn’t have much of a winter at all. Seeing all of the freezing weather in other places makes me wonder what happened here. We don’t usually get snow but at least have days where we need a coat. Not this season, I think we had one really cold weekend. We are ahead of schedule but we have to say, “Welcome Spring!”
