Easy Dog Cookie Recipe

I wanted to share the other recipe that I used in celebrating Bentley’s birthday.  These are easy and the boys give them a paws-up.  It is really just a basic dog treat recipe with a special ingredient.
Bentley’s Birthday Bones
Ingredients
½ cup Cornmeal
6 Tbsps. Oil (I used canola)
2 cups Whole-Wheat flour
2/3 cup Water or Broth*
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350˚.  Mix well.  Roll your dough to approx. ¼” thick.  Cut into the shape of your choice with a cookie cutter.  Bake on parchment paper for 35-40 minutes.  Let cookies cool completely before decorating.  Store in tightly sealed container or refrigerate if frosted.
*I used 2 Tbsp. of *The Honest Kitchen Beef Bone Broth to 2/3 cup of hot water.
Icing
4 oz. Plain Yogurt
2 Tbsp. Favorite Flavor *non-alcoholic vanilla is yummy
Directions
Whisk ingredients together with a fork/whisk until smooth.  You can add a few drops of canola oil to thin the mixture if necessary.  At this point, you can spread the entire surface of the cookie with icing.  If you want to get creative, you can use a cake-decorating bag with a #2 tip.  You can write your dog’s name, do outlines, hearts, or anything else that you can draw.  If you have ever decorated gingerbread people or a gingerbread house, it is the exact same technique. When our kids were young, we always baked gingerbread people and built a gingerbread house.  We put lights inside of the one in the photo. #greatmemories
*Let the frosting harden and watch as your pup inhales them with no appreciation for your mastery of cookie decorating.

  16. How lucky to get such a nice gift from Purina! We don't do the chats on Tuesday nights because we have nose work class every Tuesday night and when we get home the chat is almost over and I'm too worn out to chat anyway :( But I prefer nose work over chatting, so it is alright! Love your decorated cookies, by the way! I have to bake Christmas cookies here pretty soon!

  23. How long would these biscuits hold up at room temperature before you would need to refrigerate them?

    1. Mine usually don’t last over a week but if they do, I’d go ahead and refrigerate them after that to be safe.
