A Letter to my Dog


Dear Bentley,
   I wanted to write you a letter to say thanks for being such an awesome pal.  You always seem to know exactly when I need a hug, a big slobbery kiss, and just a friend to sit with me.  I’ve never lied to you about the other dogs.  There were six of them before you came dragging your long ears and big feet into my heart.  You have touched a part of my soul that I never knew existed.  I can actually feel the love for you bubbling up inside.  What is it about you that is so special?  I could write a book about it.  No, wait…  I DID write a book about it!
   Every morning begins with your nose pushing my covers back, so that you can give me kisses.  I open my eyes to your grin and there isn’t a better way to start my day.  As I stumble out of bed, you roll over for some belly scratches.  I lay down on the floor and you put your head on my shoulder while I scratch that always itchy belly of yours.  It is one of my favorite parts of the day.
   There is so much that I want you to experience and enjoy.  We have some major trips coming soon.  You are going to see and do things this year that we have never imagined.  There will be exciting places, new friends, and incredible new things to smell.  I want you to have the best life a Basset Hound can live.
People may think I’m wacky to love a dog so much.  If that’s the case, then I feel sorry for them.  I wish everyone could experience what we have together.       Every human deserves two things in their lifetime.  One is a best friend that is true, loyal, funny, loving, understanding, and accepting.  The other is a great “once-in-a-lifetime” dog.  I am the luckiest person in the universe because in you, I have both.

    Bentley first of all that is one fine photo...it made mom say WOW out loud.
    You are a real love bug but it has been mom's experience that a pet returns the love they are given then some extra so it is quite obvious you my friend have given and rec'd a bounty of love
