Enjoying the Golden Years

Dr. Harvey's disclaimer
The one thing every pet parent wants is for their dog to live a long and healthy life. Many dogs are considered senior or geriatric at the age of seven. This is when you need to adjust their food and vitamins accordingly. There are a number of supplements on the market today to help pets as they get older. If you take a look at the labels, the majority of them have ingredients that you don’t know how to pronounce, much less the purpose they serve. This was the situation that I found myself in a few months ago.
Since becoming a dog blogger, I have learned so much about being a proactive caregiver to my dogs. As the saying goes, “When you know better, you do better.” This has been the case with Bentley’s food and supplements. It seemed to me that if I couldn’t recognize the ingredients in the products that I’m using, it was time to make a change. As he is getting older, it is imperative that I give him the best food and additives that I can find. Dr. Harvey’s has been a wonderful respite from all of the chemical laden products available. Along with their holistic all natural dog food, Bentley gets their Golden Years Geriatric Supplement.
Dr. Harvey's Golden Years Geriatric Supplement
Golden Years is a holistic whole food supplement in a powdered formula. I mix it in with his Oracle dog food for an evening meal. As with all of Dr. Harvey’s products, there are no artificial ingredients. You also won’t find any preservatives, dyes, salt, sugar, wheat or corn in it.  All of their products are made in America.
This herbal supplement has a list of ingredients with properties that promote optimal health in your senior pet.
·        Spirulina
·        Lecithin
·        Nutritional Yeast
·        Garlic
·        Flax Seed Meal
·        Alfalfa Leaf
·        Kelp
·        Rose Hips
·        Fo-ti Root
·        Bilberry Leaf
·        Ginkgo Biloba Leaf
·        Ginger Root
·        Licorice Root
·        Nettle Leaf
·        Rosemary Leaf
·        Burdock Root
·        Red Clover Blossoms
·        Suma
·        Yellow Dock Root
·        Marigold Blossoms
Each of these ingredients is known to help the body continue to fight disease and may increase longevity. Golden Years is made from a propriety blend of herbs that has been used for years to fight chronic illness. Not only can I pronounce all of the ingredients, but it was easy to look up the purpose of each of them. Many have been used by humans for hundreds of years.
Golden Years is simple to use and comes in an 8 oz. tin. There is a little scoop inside and the amount that you add is determined by your dog’s weight.
2–20 lbs. ~ 1 scoop
21-50 lbs. ~ 2 scoops
51-95 lbs. ~ 3 scoops
96-150 lbs. ~ 4 scoops
Each tin contains 88 scoops and is only $17.95. Of course, if you use my ambassador’s code: BFTB2019 you can save 10%.

When I began adding Golden Years to Bentley’s food, he had been off the previous supplement for several months. I had decided not to put strange chemicals in his system if I could avoid it. I’ll be completely honest with you. I didn’t know if I would notice any change. I only knew that I was giving him an all-natural supplement from a company that I trust 100%. After a few weeks, he began to feel spunky. It was when my husband asked me what had gotten into Bentley that it hit me. I smiled and said, “Dr. Harvey’s Golden Years has gotten into him!” We both shook our heads and laughed. What a difference it had made in our boy.
If you have a senior dog, make all of his years golden with
Dr. Harvey’s Golden Years.

  4. That sounds like a great supplement. I am on a similar one right now and Ma wasn't sure if it would work. Same thing happened as with Bentley...all of a sudden, my Terrier spunk was back. Ma and Daddy-dog were shocked. So glad Dr. Harvey's makes this. We will surely have to give it a try.

  6. We will definitely have to check it out. I've been trying to add vitamins/supplements to Monty's food. The current one I have has me worried about how it has dried out since the container has been opened - even though I seal it tightly each time.

  19. Bentley looks like he's doing great :) I didn't know as much about food with Daisy because she didn't have any issues and could eat anything so I didn't think about it. I love that saying, when you know better you do better. So true!! I know what I put in my mouth and I want to know what goes into Cocoa's body too. The better I eat the better I feel and I'm sure the same with our pups!! Thank you.

  20. This sounds like a great supplement, and we appreciate the holistic/natural aspects of it. I didn't used to be big on supplements, but now I like to do whatever we can to help our older girls, as long as it's safe and natural. Seeing them stay active is just the best!

  21. This sounds like a great supplement! I love that all of those ingredients are things you can pronounce and easily look up. It is a wonderful thing when a company is willing to be that transparent about their products.

  32. Finndawg is approximately 6 on the rescue dog scale... This winter he showed his first signs of arthritis and luckily an increase in what we were giving him for his luxating patella kept him mobile. We'll be looking into Dr Harvey's as next year... he'll be another year older. Thanks for the info. Sharing to the WherePetsAreFound community.

  34. This is a great review! Thank you! I'm always on the lookout for natural ingredients for my Huskies, especially now that one is 10, one is 8, and my "puppies" are 7 - so pretty soon I'll have all "senior" dogs (but don't tell them that!) It's wonderful to hear how much better Bentley felt on it as well! Something to check out for sure!
