Things Pet Parents Say

As loving pet parents, we often speak to our dogs and cats just as we would anyone else. You probably don’t give it much thought but if we were overheard some people might think we are an odd group.

Here are a few things that can be overheard at our house.
“What is in your mouth?”
“Do you want out just so you can come back in?”
“Who’s the good boy?”
“What is in your mouth, now?”
Dogs take over the couch
“Where am I supposed to sit?”
“Please, let me sleep five more minutes.”
“Quit licking, it is 2:00 in the morning!”
“Do you have something in your mouth?”
Bentley Basset & Pierre Westie take a walk.
“Are you ready to go for a walk?”
“Don’t eat the couch!
“No, you can’t have any of my chocolate.”
“I don’t care if it’s raining; you need to go outside to potty.”
Bentley basset Hound is belly up for sunbeams and scratches.
“Who wants a belly rub?”
“I was talking to the dog!”
“We have to go to the store. We’ll be back in just a few minutes.”
“Mama and Daddy love you so much!”

What would we hear you say to your dog or cat?

We are joining Brian’s Home for Thankful Thursday. I am very thankful for my conversations with Bentley and Pierre.
Today, I am most thankful for my mother. She is celebrating her birthday and I couldn’t be prouder to call her my mama. I wish that I could celebrate in New York City with her but we are sure that she’s going to have a fabulous day with my brother.
  Happy birthday, Mama!
We love you,
Melissa, Skipper, Bentley & Pierre

  10. A very happy birthday to your sweet mother!
Sometimes our human mommy catches herself carrying on a full-out (although one-sided) conversation with us on our daily walks. She usually realizes she's doing this when she notices the looks on the faces of people passing by . . . and she's perfectly ok with this because she's a loving pet parent. Have a fabulous day! :-)

  21. Mommy says NO a lot and get down and where are you and come here and Chimera (cause she is a problem child) and stop squishing your sister (for some reason Mommy doesn't think Yin likes being used as a pillow). And Fenris and Tuiren report that she says slow down a lot when they go walking.
