Comments on Comments

Happy Monday and thanks for visiting us today!  We have been looking over the great comments that we received last week.  It’s fun to have you bark back at us about the things we share.  I sat on the couch scrolling through each day with Pierre on my right and Bentley with his head resting on my lap.
Me: “We sure have some nice visitors to our blog.  I wish we could answer every one that leaves us a note.”
Bentley: “Now Mom, we finally weaned you off commenting so much.  Why don’t we just choose some of them and answer today.  That would be cool.”
Pierre: *clapping paws and doing a happy dance* “YES!!  That means we get to relive my birthday!  This is a marvelous idea.  I can answer anything about me.”
Me: “Of course, your birthday was a big part of last week.  It’s always best to start at the beginning.  Let’s check out Sunday’s B & W, it was Bentley in “Sitting Pretty.”  Our friend Dolly the Doxie wrote; “I did not know that Bassets could sit up!  Bet you got that treat!  Mom won't let me sit up, thinks Dachshunds aren't suppose too.  Love Dolly”
Bentley: “I’ll take this one.  I have been sitting up that way since I was a puppy.  At first, it freaked my mom and dad out because; I just walked over to them and sat up.
Basset Hound sitting up
They both kept putting their hands on either side of me, because they thought that I would fall.  I have never fallen over, but Tucker used to push me over accidentally (on purpose) to get in on loving from Mom.  I don’t necessarily do it for treats.  It is just the way that I like to sit to talk or listen to my humans.”
Me: “On Monday’s Mischief, we discovered many of our readers enjoy chasing squirrels and other critters.  Susan from Life with Dogs and Cats told us; “My dogs will chase squirrels, birds, raccoons...pretty much anything.  The annoying thing about squirrels, I think they drive my dogs nuts in particular, because they'll stare at the pups and taunt them.
Pierre: “Oooo, That’s my territory!  It is true that squirrels are bushy-tailed bully rats.  Grrrr!  I get feisty just thinking about them.  They bark back at me and I know they are talking trash.  One of these days though…one of these sweet days I am gonna find out if they really do taste like chicken.”
Bentley: “I’d like to make a clarification on that post.  Mom, you made it sound like I don’t chase the squirrels.  I give the little nut hoarders a good chase.  It’s just that I am not obsessed like some.  *Lifts eyebrow at Pierre, who is still panting and quivering at the thought of catching a squirrel.*
Me: “I’m sorry, you do chase them, but I have never seen anyone get as excited as Pierre.  Now, that your manliness has been defended, let’s look at Tasty Tuesday and Tuesday’s Tails.  Our friend Sugar the Golden Retriever asks a great question.  “TASTY!!! What's in that sauce?  Hope for Mr. Roger find his forever home soon.  Golden Woofs.”
Pierre: “It must be a blend of fairy dust and love.  I adore having it on my food.  We tried the Minty flavor, but I want Gramma to buy some of the Sweet Potato Sauce.  Mmmm!
Bentley: “Okay, I don’t want to burst your bubble but that is not how the folks at PetSafe make their sauce.  It just tastes that way.  As Pierre mentioned, the sauce comes in Minty or Sweet Potato flavors.  Neither one contains wheat, corn, soy, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.  How great is that?  Mom just adds 1 tablespoon to my food and turns plain into WOW!
Me:  Here are the official ingredients of each flavor.  Congratulations again to Emma for

Bentley: “For Wordless Wednesday we sure had a lot of our readers talking!  Dad took the “Reflections of a Basset Hound” picture of me.  The Sandspring Chesapeakes Mom, JoAnn left a really nice comment.  “Love love love.  My friend did a reflection photo for me today also.  You must have Photoshop editing program, you do such beautiful work.”

I’m referring this one to Dad.  Pierre, go give this to your Papaw and find out the facts of what he does.”
Pierre: “Mission accomplished!  Papaw uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.  He can do some amazing things with it.  It has taken him some time to learn how to do the different effects.  He loves working on photos and we think he is terrific too.  Thanks for the compliment Miss JoAnn.”
Me: “Let’s see…that brings us to Thoughtless Thursday.  I can’t really think of anything that was so special about that particular day.”  *wink, wink*
Pierre: “GRAMMA!!  That was my happy birthday!  How could you forget?  Wait a minute, are you teasing me?  I’m gonna go tell Papaw that you’re teasing me.”
Me: “Oh come here baby.  You know I remember it was your birthday.  You received so many sweet birthday wishes from humans, dogs, and even some kitties.  We had a great time at the park and then continued to celebrate with your presents once we got back home.”

Pierre: “Thanks to everyone for your nice wishes, they meant so much to me!”  *blowing kisses*
Bentley: “On Friday, we posted pictures of all the party fun.  They turned out very cute.  We can’t wait to get a dog park built here in our city.  One of the comments was from my girlfriend Emma, from My GBGV Life she wrote; In June, Bailie turns one and Katie twelve ten days later, so we will have lots of partying...you boys should come and join us!  We have stairs too.  We are always running up and down the stairs here.”  Can we go, Mom…puh-leeze!  It’s Emma and she has stairs!  It is so unfair that you get to see her in person and I gotta be a Flat Pet. *sigh* Just tell her that I really, really want to come to her paw-ty!”
Pierre: “Hey, cry me a river.  I’m not even going as a Flat Pet!  But, we do get to stay in our first doggie hotel in a double suite!  Doubly sweet!”  *heehee*
Me: “Okay, let me explain this one more time.  Y’all can’t go to Las Vegas because you would have to fly in the belly of the plane.  You wouldn’t like it at all.  Pierre, the reason that you don’t have a Flat Pet this year is because it is the first time we ever
"Will I meet you there?"
made one.  I’m sure that you’ll be getting your own Flat Pet soon.  Bentley, I will get Dad to take a picture of your Flat Pet standing next to Emma.  It will look as if y’all are together.  Believe me; we would take you both if we were driving.  Maybe BlogPaws will have next year’s conference some place that we can drive.  That brings us to Sepia Saturday’s post.  Our friend,
Leiah from SoIreadthisbooktoday asked; Beautiful!!!! Did she paint those?”  Thanks, I love them and glad to share them with everyone.  No, my mom didn’t paint them
Flowers painted on Easter eggs
although she could. She is a very talented artist.  Mom got them at the church she worked at in New York City.  She is a retired nurse and loves living in the Big City!
Bentley: “I’m glad that we could clear up some of those questions and comments.  Remember, we love to read your comments so keep on writing!”
Pierre: “Please, join us again tomorrow and tell your friends about us!  Have a great Monday!”

  2. I'm staying home for the same reason, guys! But Mom always brings home good loot from BlogPaws. Tell your mom to be sure to leave plenty of room in her suitcase to bring back stuff! This year, Mom is taking an extra suitcase inside her suitcase to bring home the loot in!

  5. I'm not going to BlogPaws either, guys, so you aren't the only ones missing out! I also hope it is somewhere within driving distance for next year, I don't like to fly at all.

  6. I hope to snuggle with flat Bentley as well as pose nicely. I hope it smells like Bentley too! It is a really long drive for us to Vegas but I am determined to go along. We have photoshop elements 10. My photographer will have to see if she can figure out the reflection thing. It is a hard program to learn, but she is starting to figure it out now after about two years! As for the June birthdays we always have a ton of good stuff to eat since I bake, so even if you show up last minute, you will be covered!

  8. I can't blame you for not getting around to everyone's comments. It takes a lot of time to talk to everyone. I always wish I could visit more blogs everyday, but then my husband reminds me that I have to eat and sleep. LOL
