If We Ever Had Some Snow

We enjoy many awesome things on the bayou.  We have beautiful trees and flowers, great bayous and waterways, Mardi Gras, southern-fried chicken, Cajun food, and New Orleans.  There are also things that we don’t get to enjoy.  We are out of luck if we want to climb a mountain, we have the Gulf of Mexico, but no oceans and we never get much snow.  Ever.
I can honestly say that I have never seen a snow shovel.  We have built a few snowmen and had some snowball fights.  These are rare events and as an entire city, we freak!  Nobody knows how to drive with the slightest snow accumulation.  That means if they predict snow, which they do every year just to excite us, also as an entire city, we shut down.  A slight dusting of snow?  No school!  One inch of snow?  Grocery shelves emptied!  Two inches of snow?  No anything!
Bentley has seen snow once in his life and Pierre hasn’t seen anything more than a few flakes.  You can imagine how excited we were to discover our friends at Fruitables has a limited edition treat made with an estimated 300 snowflakes.  Honest!  Each 7 oz. pouch contains 300 sustainably harvested snowflakes from the Rockies.  How cool, er…cold is that?  If you still need some convincing, check out this video:http://vimeo.com/100452248  This is the first product to use real snow as an ingredient and is patent pending.
How do you go about making these novelty holiday treats?  Fruitables takes a snowball’s worth of real, fresh high altitude snow and mixes it with their scrumptious pumpkin granola and yogurt recipe.  The result is a delicious crunchy, creamy treat that is only 9 calories each.  You can smell the difference when you open the bag.  It smells like vanilla homemade ice cream made with real snow!  At least it's what I think how snow ice cream would taste.
These are such cute stocking stuffers for your best four-legged friends.  Imagine the surprise when you attend a Christmas party and bring the host a gift for their dog.  Do you have a Secret Pal that is a dog lover?  Dog themed gifts were always one of my favorites to receive.  Fruitables Vanilla Snowflake Flavor treats are a must-have for any dog on your holiday list.  You can find the Snowflake flavor along with others including Greek Yogurt Coconut, Apple Bacon, and Pumpkin & Cranberry.  At only $4.99 - $5.99, it is a great gift idea just in time for the holidays.
Disclaimer: We received one pouch of Fruitables Vanilla Snowflake Flavor treats in exchange for our honest review.  There was no monetary compensation.  Fruitables and their parent company, Vetscience LLC is not responsible for the content of this post.  Barking from the Bayou only shares products that we feel our audience will enjoy and find useful.

Before you leave, enjoy what Bentley, Pierre, and I imagine we could do if we ever had snow on the bayou.

Don’t forget to visit us tomorrow for Bentley’s birthday party!!

You should take a look at our idea of dog sledding from last winter http://mygbgvlife.com/2014/02/12/dog-sledding/ that is Minnesota style! Enjoy your last day before the big 7 hits and your lucky year starts! Love, Emma

  13. That sounds delicious! A few years ago we had so much snow that when mom went to get the mail it was over her head! Thankfully it usually doesn't dump that much!

  17. Interesting treats. We have plenty of snow around here, but I don't think it tastes like Vanilla, pumpkin, or bacon.
