Me: “Hey boys, guess what day it is?”
Bentley: “Is it Christmas?”
Pierre: “Woo Hoo! Let’s go see what Santa brought us!”
Me: “It’s not Christmas. It is our second blogiversary! That means that we have been Barking from the Bayou for two years!”
Bentley: “Do we get presents?”
Me: “Sorry, but there are no presents or cake.”
Bentley: “I hate to tell you this, but it doesn’t seem like much of a celebration without presents or a cake. Just sayin’.”
Me: “We are celebrating the fact that we have gone from just a few visitors to over 590,000 page views from our friends all over the world in only two years.”
Pierre: “That is a lot of people reading what we have to say. I wonder which of our posts have gotten the most views.”
Me: “Our most popular post was one we did right after we started the blog, but it is still being read. It is titled, “Who Let the Dogs Out” and it is my opinion on people allowing their dogs to run loose. You know that’s my pet peeve.”
Bentley: “Who is this pet and why did you name him Peeve? We’ve never met him. That’s just weird.”
Me: “It’s not an actual pet; it is something that irritates me.”
Pierre: “Like lying on a scratchy rug, right?”
Me: “Not exactly, but let’s get back to our blogiversary. You know that I originally started blogging as a platform for my books, The Returns & The Returns 2 ~Showstoppers. After a few months, I discovered BlogPaws® and that is when my life went to the dogs. The two of you began helping me review products and companies began paying us for our honest opinions. It wasn’t long after that companies wanted to buy ads on our page. We had become professional bloggers!”
Bentley: “Again, I hate to be a Negative Nellie, but I haven’t received a single paycheck. Do I need to contact a lawyer or the SPCA? I’m pretty sure there are dog labor laws in place.”
Pierre: “Yeah, we should be paid the same as David Muir for our BFTB NETWoof News. According to my calculations, we have anchored 68 Monday news programs. You probably owe us like 87 bazillion dollars. I’ll ask David what he makes and let you know the exact numbers.”
Me: “Okay, just tell me when you talk to him. That sure is a lot of newscasts, though. I appreciate your hard work and dedication. We can't forget our Weather Lab Paisley. She joined the news team in the beginning of 2015. Y’all make this so much fun. As I was about to say, the spring of 2014 was when we attended our first BlogPaws conference in Las Vegas. That was a life-changing experience. Your Dad had a great time and we both learned so much that it really ramped up our blog. In the fall of our first year was when we met all of our friends in Blogville. They are such a wonderful community of bloggers. Between BlogPaws and Blogville, we have some amazing friends. It was about this time last year when I became a BlogPaws conference ambassador. That was a lot of fun and we are proud that the conference was sold-out.”
Bentley: “Y’all stiffed us on the Vegas conference. It’s probably for the best. I’m sure with my #7 on my side; people would have been rubbing me raw for good luck. Of course, we could have hit the strip and given it the ol’ bayou try! The Nashville conference was excellent. We went to our first daycare and played with a bunch of other dogs. I also met my sweetie, Emma. I hope that we get to go with y’all to Phoenix next summer! *hint hint”
Pierre: “It just won’t be the same without us. Our friends are expecting us.”
Me: “We’ll see, but let me tell you about where we are right now with our blogging. We are proud ambassadors for Dr. Harvey’s amazing all-natural food, treats, and supplements. I love being a PrideBites PAWtner and in case you haven’t noticed, I am now a member of Women in the Pet Industry. You can also catch my monthly guest post on the BlogPaws Executive Blog. It has been an unbelievable two years and I’m looking forward to our third year. There are some big changes in store and I’m excited to share them with all of our readers. This is definitely a second blogiversary to celebrate.”
Bentley: “I tend to agree with Pierre...we need cake!”
♥ Thank You ♥
*On a serious note, Barking from the Bayou’s success is also due to my wonderful photographer and husband, Skipper. I am so lucky to be able to do what I love for a career. Sharing this journey with Skipper, Bentley and Pierre is the perfect way to spend our retirement! None of this would be possible if you didn’t visit and read our work. I want to thank each of you for allowing me this opportunity. I am the luckiest woman in the world.
Happy Blogiversary! :D
