February's Love Letter

Dear Mom,
Can you believe it is already February? I was perusing our calendar and noticed we will be celebrating a number of human holidays. In addition to Make a Friend Day, there’s Groundhog Day, Fat Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day. You’ll notice that those are all one day celebrations and really have nothing to do with pets. Not to say that we don’t appreciate a little something-something on February 14th. Just sayin’…
Pierre and I set about trying to dig up some special howlidays for pets and guess what we discovered?
February has been deemed
 Spoil Your Pet Month
 Dog Training Education Month
    National Cat Health Month
       Pet Dental Health
Responsible Pet Owners (Pets should still receive gifts)
        Adopt a Rescue Rabbit Month
      National Prevent a Litter Month
        Unchain a Dog Month
While several of these celebrations do not necessarily impact me, a few are very important. Let’s shine a spotlight on that top entry. We love the sound of Spoil Your Pet Month! Pierre and I have been discussing some of the ways we would like to be spoiled.
A Few Ideas
Let’s take a new trail on our walk
     Bake us treats
Buy us treats
No phones or photos while we play
    Spa Day
       Snuggle on the floor
Two words ~ Belly Rubs!
I believe that should take us through the next few days for Spoil Your Pet month. If we think of anything else, I will add a P.S. later.
That brings us to Dog Training Education. If the training is for great treats, I’ll entertain the idea. Let’s move along to Pet Dental Health. You know I love to have my teeth brushed but a few breath bones wouldn’t hurt either. Being a Responsible Pet Owner is on you. I think you do a fine job, but the belly rubs could be longer. You sometimes seem rushed and frankly, it makes me feel as if you are just going through the motions.
Thanks to that little trip to the V-E-T a few years back, Pierre and I don’t have to worry about being a puppy daddy. That being said, we are firm supporters of National Prevent a Litter Month. There are too many pups looking for homes as it is now.
Last but certainly not least is Unchain Your Dog Month. I shudder to think of the dogs living their lives chained to a tree or doghouse. It is cruel and should be illegal. Promise us that if you see a dog chained up that you’ll say something or report it to the authorities.
February is a terrific month of holidays for humans and dogs, but mostly dogs.
We love you,
Bentley and Pierre

  2. Definitely lots to celebrate there.I wanted a National Taste Cream Month (or Year) as well as National Hug a Mouse (before eating) Month, but Mrs H said that that was not on as I'm on a diet, MOL

  4. We love the Valentines month of love thing a lot because it means extra loving, but I think we can really get behind the adopt a rescue rabbit. We would take them all, but Mom says we would not be adopting for the right reasons. Not sure why she is such a party pooper!

  12. Spoiled? I didn't think there was any such thing as a spoiled doggie, but I am on board with all your suggestions.
