This is the typical
scene in the Barking from the Bayou office. Bentley and Pierre like to keep me
company. This is how they usually sleep with Pierre on the Kuranda bed and Bentley
under my card catalogue.
*If you’ll notice the
shelf, it contains some of my favorite doggies things. The top shelf has photos
of all the dogs and cats that have left their paw prints on my heart. The
second shelf has knick-knacks, the Bayou Boys salt dough paw prints, and that
drawing was done by one of my student office workers. That’s Tucker, my Golden
Retriever and it is very special piece of artwork. The next shelf is my canvas photo of Bentley
and more dog stuff. That fourth shelf is books and magazines some that have
used my quotes and sent me copies. Have you ever seen those irons? They are
heavy cast iron flat irons that belonged to my mother-in-law. That bottom shelf
contains fun stuff that our granddaughter can play with when she visits. She
loves my office, but most things are not for tiny hands. This shelf changes
with each visit as she moves stuff back and forth to their bedroom.
Bentley loves to
sleep under things. That is why we had the incident I told you about in “A Recliner Warning”.
(If you haven’t read it, I urge to do so
and share it with friends.) He loves to sleep under his Dad’s desk in the “mancave”
and will sometimes curl up under mine. It always makes me snicker when he
sleeps under the card catalogue with the Spoiled Rotten Basset sign! At least
he is willing to admit it.
** Since I described what's on the shelf, let me tell you about my card catalogue. It was given to me when I
quit my job as the library assistant at a high school in Louisiana. We had
several and this one sat behind my desk the entire time I worked there. It was
full of cards but I discarded most of them due to the excess weight! The photo
is my grandmother and that phone is from my time working for AT&T. It still
works but the ringer could wake the dead! That ashtray is ceramic and
includes a match & big fat cigar. I think it’s cool. The plant is a cutting
from one that belonged to my grandfather. I have managed to keep it alive in
water for years. The plant is beautiful and can be planted but I am so afraid I’ll
kill it and it is the last of the original.
Well, that is a tour of
the boys' part of our Barking from the Bayou office. I'll show you my part another day. For now, you know where all the magic happens!
Speaking of magic…don’t
forget to enter for your chance to win a container of Treatibles. They work
like magic on the Bayou Boys!
To enter, visit our “Let’s Talk
Treatibles” post!
I totally like the idea with the fat cigar... but I'm afraid one of the boys could smoke it, everything is possible here ;O)) 8 paws and two wagging tails for a super fab office ;O)
ReplyDeleteBentley, we like to get under da recliners too, so da mommas always make sure we are out before dey lower em.
ReplyDeleteYou have lots of very meaningful beauties on your shelves. Mom used to use those antique flat irons as door stoppers!
ReplyDeleteWe love your office, as it is very personal and motivating, like ours is. If it is a happy place that makes you feel good, you will love to spend time there and you will work better.
ReplyDeleteOh to be a fly on your office wall Pierre and Bentley!!

nice office. i like the card catalogue, antique? my girls like to be at my feet or in my laps, had to type with both of them in my lap even though they only weigh abt 15 lbs each.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful office and the best company around. We just love Bentleys a spoiled rotten basset lives here. That's just too funny. Thanks for sharing your office tour with us. Have a wonderful day.

Your editors' space is fur-buloous! No wonder you guys are so creative!
ReplyDeleteWhat a welcoming space for you and the boyz!!
ReplyDeleteHoo hoo, I remember using the card catalog at the library! I volunteered in junior high school at the school library, and learned all about the Dewey Decimal System; do they teach it anymore? I know it's still in use, obviously.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great place for the pups to relax while the humans use the office. We all like to sleep "under" things too. Timber puts his head under the couch. Lightning tries to get his big body under the coffee table, and Misty is quite cozy under the sofa table. We do love a cave atmosphere too.

Thanks for the tour, that's a nice office ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteOMG your office is sooo clean and organized........I am dying!!!!!! Mine looks like a cyclone hit it and that is why I "work" at the diningroom table that also looks like a cyclone hit it lol
ReplyDeleteThey both look comfy. I love your card catalogue.
ReplyDeleteI love the office! The card catalogue is definitely cool! My current office is somewhat of a disaster, though I do have shelves of pet stuff that I love. I hope to organize it better one of these days. I work more in the dining room now so I can keep an eye on the flock more easily.

What a very attractive place to do your inspired writing. I was offered a card catalogue years ago and couldn't think of how to use it. Now I can think of hundreds of reasons to have one.
ReplyDeleteWe can see how hard Bentley and Pierre are working. :) Love the card catalog cabinet!
ReplyDeleteNice work boyz! Um...I means, FABulous office! I loves that everythings is abouts you guys! Ma wishes her 'office' looked so neat and tidy.....
