God Bless Texas and Louisiana

I want to thank everyone for their concern and prayers for our son and his family during Hurricane Harvey. The sun finally came out yesterday afternoon. They were very blessed to not receive any water in their home.

CBDs the Treatibles Way to Pet Health

I have written several posts on the use of CBDs in pets. It has been shown to be harmless even when taken in high dosage for extended periods of time. CBDs are also LEGAL in all 50 states for humans and pets. I am a firm believer in the benefits of cannabinoids and that is why I recently became an affiliate for Treatibles®.

How to Keep Your Senior Dog Heart Healthy

One of the greatest joys in a pet parent’s life is the love of a senior dog. We would go to any length to ensure our furry family members live a long and healthy life. Many times, that means as our dogs and cats age, we need to add certain supplements to their diets. Thankfully, Dr. Harvey’s has many helpful ways to make sure we are doing our best to keep our pets going strong!
Coenzyme Q10 is essential for the cells in dogs and cats’ bodies. It is used for cell growth and to help protect cells from damage. Their bodies naturally produce this antioxidant but may need supplemented as they age. It is recommended for them after the age of six. That means both Bentley and Pierre are getting the daily dosage Dr. Harvey recommends.

Flexi Your Leash #ChewyInfluencer

Flexi Classic Retractable Leash
Retractable leashes. The very mention of them brings on an age-old debate. While it is true that in the wrong hands, a retractable leash can be dangerous for dogs and humans, when used properly they can be terrific. It is important to know how to operate your leash and to make sure that you have a high quality retractable leash.
I have had a Flexi Leash for the past three years and love it. That is why when Chewy.com offered a Flexi Leash for review this month, I jumped at the opportunity. Let me explain…

Ooh La La It's Le Bōl

Bentley: “I'll admit it, we are rolling-in-stinky-stuff, squirrel-chasing, licking-where-we-can kind of guys. However, that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the finer things in life.”

How to Help Your Dog Stay Calm and Quiet

Therabis Calm and Quiet Treat Supplements
Barking from the Bayou, LLC received a bag of Therabis Calm and Quiet in exchange for an honest review. We only share products that we trust and  believe will benefit our readers. All opinions are my own and Therabis is not responsible for the contents of this article.
Last month we introduced you to Therabis™ Stop the Itch. The difference in Bentley’s scratching is incredible. He continues to get one sachet added to his breakfast each morning with wonderful results. The review that I wrote was sponsored by Therabis through the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network. I was so happy to find an all-natural product that is controlling his itching that I decided to reach out to Therabis and thank them personally. They offered to send me their Calm and Quiet Treat Supplements to see if they helped Bentley during thunderstorms and other stressful situations.

BFTB NETWoof News August 14, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News for August 14, 2017. It has been a busy week here on the bayou but we fetched some great reports for you. Let’s go straight to my co-anchor Pierre.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on Heroes help distressed cow deliver its baby
Cow w/calf photo credit: Creative Commons/Wikimedia
Pierre Westie: “I think this is the first time that a cow made our top story but we believe that you’ll agree it is worthy. We all know that sometimes all animals need help when delivering a baby and a cow is no exception. A group of bicyclists were passing a cow in labor when they noticed she was in distress. One biker took off his shirt and went straight to work turning the breech calf. It took teamwork but they could turn the calf. They tied some rope around its front hooves and helped complete the delivery. After a few scary moments to get its heart beating, the mama cow began cleaning her baby as it opened it big eyes and nuzzled close.”

In the Heat of the Moment

The heat is on and we need to do everything in our power to protect our pets. I know most people are aware of the dangers of leaving pets in the car and still we hear about dogs dying from heatstroke. Leaving a window cracked is not good enough. Dogs and cats are safer waiting at home while you go shopping or running errands. This infographic shows just how hot a car can get during these dog days of summer.

Fetch bioDOGradable Bags for Your Dog

One thing that we can all agree on when it comes to dogs is that poo happens! It is incredibly important that you don’t leave it on the ground. The question is how do we dispose of it without feeding the ever-growing piles of garbage at our landfills?
Barking from the Bayou, LLC received bioDOGradable wWaste Pick-Up Bags in exchange for an honest review. We only share products that we feel will benefit our audience. bioDOGradable is not responsible for the contents of this article.

We Love Book Lover's Day

We always enjoy Book Lover’s Day because that describes us perfectly. Before Mama began blogging, she would read an average of one book every two days. She worked in a high school library so books were her life. Her first adventure into blogging was all about writing.
My original blog header was a card catalog
Some of her all-time favorite authors are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Nora Roberts. That’s a weird combination of scary and romance. She has hundreds of books and we were happy when she started reading on her Kindle or we’d have to open our own library!

When the Thunder Rolls Fetch a ThunderShirt

If you have a dog that hates thunderstorms, chances are you are familiar with the ThunderShirt®. I have used the original heather grey one on Bentley for several years. It was recommended by a veterinarian to help calm his anxiety during storms. I have always loved the results but not how the shirt collected his hair!

We only share products that we feel will benefit our readers and all opinions are our own. ThunderWorks is not responsible for the contents of this article.    We recently reviewed the ThunderSnap® and when reading about the leash, I noticed they had a new ThunderShirt Sport®. It is just like the original ThunderShirt but is made from polyester. I wondered if this would be better for a Basset Hound that sheds 24/7. They offered to send me one to try. Of course, I jumped at the chance.

BFTB NETWoof News August 7, 2017

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to this week’s BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched the best reports for you to enjoy so sit back with your favorite beverage and let’s get the top story from my co-anchor, Pierre.”
BFTB NETWoof News reports on Flying Fur Animal Rescue
Pierre Westie: “Greetings! In our top story, we salute an army veteran Paul Steklenski of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania. As a hobby pilot, he started the non-profit Flying Fur Animal Rescue to fly animals from high-kill shelters to rescues where they can be adopted into forever homes. His license allows him to transport several animals at a time so it is very efficient. He used his own money to buy the plane and spends about $1,000 on his monthly rescue flights. Steklenski has helped save the lives of over 700 dogs so far. We say he is a V.I.P or very special pilot!”
