Pierre: “As we have previously mentioned, due to my stomach issues, Bentley will be reviewing our treats and I am in charge of toys. I am super excited to share my newest Strong ‘N Silent™ toy from our friends at Trusty Pup®. They realize that play is a vital part of a dog’s life and have a great line of fun toys. This is their gator and he is built to last!”

The Fabulous Furballz
Bentley: “The Bayou Boys love a good toy. One of our favorites has to be the Furballz from the amazing goDog® division of Worldwise. They make the best most durable toys that we have ever tried and believe me, we have more toys than most pet shops! (Pssst...Don’t tell Mom I said that, or she might get some silly idea about clearing out the toy box)"

A Murder on the Bayou
Bentley Basset Hound: “The photo above is from a happier carefree time. As you can see, I am sharing my PrideBites bed with one of my very favorite toys, Lamb Chop. She is soft, cuddly, and has a squeaker. I love my Lamb Chop. Little did I know that our time together was limited.
Last week, I came upon a gruesome scene. Lamb Chop had been brutally murdered. It appears her throat was cut and her tongue was almost pulled out of her mouth. There were no witnesses to this heinous crime but I have my suspicions. Let me just say that Pierre has always been jealous of my relationship with Lamb Chop. This was clearly a crime of passion.
Pierre claims that he has an ironclad alibi for the time this killing took place. Far be it for me to accuse someone unjustly but everyone knows he has a long rap sheet of terrier-ist acts including de-stuffing innocent toys.
I ask for a moment of silence in honor of my dearly departed Lamb Chop. Sigh…R.I.P. my snuggly friend.”
**Don’t tell Bentley but I ordered him a brand new Lamb Chop for his birthday which is December 3rd.

*We received our toys from goDog and Propel Communications in exchange for our honest opinion. Barking from the Bayou only shares products we love and believe will benefit our readers. GoDog and Propel Communications are not responsible for the contents of this article.
Bentley Basset Hound: “We recently received a box from our good friends at goDog® and begged Mom to open it. Imagine our surprise when we found two new toys! These aren’t just any toys, they are goDog’s RopeTek™ toys made with a patent pending manufacturing process. We are one of the first to get to try them. They even sent Mom a new shiny water bottle! At least she says it’s for her!” #SneakPeekTuesday, August 21, 2018
Fetch Fun Fling-A-Longs
We love all things TrustyPup® from their comfy beds to their incredible line of toys. That’s because the folks behind TrustyPup know how to meet a pet’s emotional, physical and instinctual needs. Bentley still loves snuggling in the comfort of his orthopedic TrustyPup bed. Pierre often tries to catch some extra zzz’s in it too.

That's why when a box arrived with TrustyPup on the outside, the Bayou Boys were anxious for me to open it. They knew something fun was about to happen and boy, were they ever right!

Wanna Play?
Pierre put his paw down after a week of Bentley’s birthday and our blogiversary celebration. He feels that our readers miss his happy face. I tried to explain that he gets plenty of exposure but how could I say “no” to this face?

Rhino Play is Dog's Play
Bentley and Pierre LOVE their toys. There are several go-to favorites you can depend on them to grab for a game of tug or catch. It is important those toys can stand up to Bentley’s strength and Pierre’s Terrierism! We received a new toy for Bentley’s birthday from goDog® but Pierre has claimed it as his own. It is a tough molded non-toxic PopFoamNT™ that has earned its name, RhinoPlay™. If goDog says it is durable, I believe them. After all, this is not our first goDog toy.

Keeping Calm with PetSafe Toys
Does your dog hate fireworks or thunderstorms? If so, you have probably tried a variety of things to help alleviate their stress. My Basset Hound Bentley suffers from a fear of thunderstorms. He hears rumbling 30 minutes before the first clap of thunder reaches my ears. It doesn’t matter if the storm hits in the middle of the day or night when the sky starts talking, he wants his mom and dad to be with him. I can’t tell you how many nights we have sat up to reassure him that he will survive the racket.
When we know a storm is coming, I add Relax to his meal and the difference is incredible. However, we still need to keep his mind occupied until the thunder stops. That is where our new PetSafe® Calming Toys come to the rescue. Toys that dispense treats and that require problem-solving help to distract Bentley and he loves them. Our Busy Buddy® Calming Toys came with two chamomile scented toys that he was instantly attracted to. The moment I opened the box, his nose went to work.
Both the Barnacle and Squirrel Dude™ have chambers where you can add treats. The Treat Meter® prongs can be trimmed with scissors to allow the treats to come out easier and faster. Just remember that once you cut the prongs, you can’t put them back so make sure to only trim a tiny amount each time.
Pierre has absolutely no fear of noises or things that go bump in the night. That being said, there are certain times when he needs a distraction. Mostly during “squirrel:thirty” each evening. His new Squirrel Dude with some high-value treats can keep us from letting him outdoors to chase real squirrels every five minutes!
PetSafe Calming Toys work great to keep your dog’s attention and divert it from the things that are causing them anxiety. You can put some dog-friendly peanut butter in the chambers and stick them in the freezer for a bit. When you take them out, you can watch your best friend forget everything other than getting the peanut butter out of their toy. Don’t worry about these toys getting dirty because they are top-rack dishwasher safe.
We have the medium size toys for dogs 20-50 pounds but they are also available for smaller 10-20 pound pups. You can fetch Calming Toys from PetSafe for under $20.

Hear Ye! Hear Doggy!
Bentley: Hear Doggy™!”
Pierre: “Are you talking to me?”
Bentley: “No, why would you think I’m talking to you?”
Pierre: “I distinctly heard you holler, ‘Here Doggy’ and I look around and there isn’t any other doggy around here but me so I’ll ask you again…are you talking to me?”
Bentley: “I did not say here doggy, I said Hear Doggy!”
Pierre: “Ummmm…Of course, how silly of me. Duh!”

The Secret Life of Pets and PetSmart Are Tail Wagging Fun
It has been at least a year since I began anxiously waiting for The Secret Life of Pets movie debut. Let me be upfront with you and say that I LOVE cartoons or as they call them now, animated movies. There aren’t many Disney, Pixar or DreamWorks movies or songs that I can’t recite verbatim. When my daughter was young, we read the books and then watched the movies. It’s just a guess but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast more than 587 times. I can’t imagine a time when I won’t enjoy laughing and getting lost in the magical world of animation.

Tuggo Toys are Terrific!
One of the sponsors that we were anxious to meet at BlogPaws 2015 was the Tuggo™ Toys team. Adam Harrington is the inventor of the award-winning Tuggo Dog Toy. He is a graduate of MTSU and lives in the Nashville area. Like most of us, Adam was tired of spending his hard-earned money on a tug toy that only lasted one good playtime. That is when he decided to create a destruction-resistant toy that would promote exercise, build muscle, and be extremely entertaining for his dog. The result is a tug-o-war toy that is like no other.
It is available in the hard plastic 10” ball or the 7” Tuggo Mini. Both can be filled with water, gravel, or sand, so it is customizable for every dog. That means that you can add a little or a lot depending on your dog’s size and ability. When it is empty, it only weighs one pound. If you fill it to the maximum with water, you have a twenty-pound toy! That makes it a great toy to entertain your dog when you can't play. You fill the Tuggo through the recessed screw cap. It is easy to open with a coin so there are no tools required. The unique patent-pending design allows the rope to be pulled through the ball.
After visiting the Tuggo display, they offered us our very own 10” Tuggo Dog Toy. We had a choice of sizes and three colors. I knew this was going to be a special souvenir for the third member of our BFTB NETWoof News team, our “granddog” Paisley (the Weather Lab). She is a huge fan of tug-o-war. We visited her this weekend to see if she was enjoying her new toy.
How to tell if a dog loves the Tuggo Dog Toy:
All you need is the Tuggo, an active 8-month-old puppy, and an equally active 8-year-old boy. Luckily, we had all three this weekend. It was the trifecta of a good time!

Platypus and Fox
Bentley:: “Friends, I am here today to
tell you about a mischievous murder that happened right inside my
home. Some of you may
remember back in March when we received a Skinneeez Platypus in our
PetBox. It was one of the
best toys ever. Patty, as I
affectionately called her, was my favorite toy. I speak of her in past tense due to an
unbarkable crime. I hate to
make it sound like Pierre is to blame, but it is all his fault."
Pierre:
“You can’t prove that I had anything to do Miss Patty’s sudden
demise. In my opinion, she has been
looking pretty frail for the past few weeks.
I’m surprised that she lasted this long.
The poor platypus never had an ounce of stuffing in her. I think she just withered away. It’s so sad.”
Bentley: “You've been trying
to kill Patty Platy since she moved in with us. She was a great toy; I’m going to miss
her. Bless her heart."

Dog Toys and Treats
The
boys had an awesome week of dog toys and treats. We received an upcycled tug toy from Talia’sToys and then a surprise box of delicious treats from our friends at Merrick Pet Care. It was happiness
overload! They have been anxious to tell
everyone about their new treasures.
![]() |
"I'd better hide this tug toy or Pierre will snatch it from me!" |
Bentley: “It was like Christmas
around our house this week! First, the
mailman brought us a package. Of course,
we gave him a barking because it is expected, but we were wagging our
tails. I asked Dad to go fetch our special
delivery.”
Pierre:
“It was special too! Gramma
opened the envelope and pulled out a new tug toy. I love to play tug o’ war! There was no way that I could control my
excited jumping.”
Bentley: “Mom was showing us the new
toy, but I had a sneaky suspicion there was something else in the envelope. That’s when I saw the little bag of
cookies! WHAT?! Talia sent us a tug toy AND cookies! Double score.
My plan was to let Pierre run off with the toy and then the cookies
would be all mine! *snicker
