BFTB NETWoof News March 19, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to BFTB NETWoof News for the week of March 19,2018. We have fetched some important reports to share with you. Let’s toss it over to my co-anchor Pierre for our top story.”

Pierre Westie: “It appears that United Airlines has more problems than an algebra book when it comes to transporting dogs over the past few days. The trouble began on a flight from Houston to New York when an attendant insisted a family place their 10-month-old French Bulldog in its carrier inside the overhead bin. When the family arrived at LaGuardia airport, the puppy had died. United has taken full responsibility for the tragedy and the flight attendant claimed not to have known the kennel contained a dog. That is hard for us to believe. We also do not understand why the family went along with the order to stow their pup in the overhead storage. Most pet parents that we have talked to say they would never have abided the order even if it meant being taken off the flight.
You would think with such bad publicity the airline would go above and beyond to reassure customers that their beloved pets are safe flying their airline. Well…since the horrific death of little Kokito, United has sent a German Shepherd bound for Kansas to Japan! When the family went to claim their dog, they were met with a Great Dane instead. The dog was flown via corporate jet back to its anxious family.
Okay, that certainly seems like enough for any airline but for the third time in one week, United airlines mistakenly loaded a dog on the plane that wasn’t supposed to be going anywhere. The plane was traveling from Newark to St. Louis but was diverted to Akron to release the dog. All passengers were compensated for the trouble. Have you ever flown with your pets? Tell us your experience in the comments!”
Dogs reporting the BFTB NETWoof News on therapy cats
Bentley: “I’m thinking our kennel in the back of our SUV is the safest way to get around. I would have to fly in cargo and that is not going to happen.
This story might restore some faith or at least goodwill to those of you who travel by plane. Calgary International Airport in Alberta, Canada now has therapy cats to help relieve the stress of delays, lost luggage, and anxious travelers. The airport currently has two registered therapy cats that visit with awaiting passengers to spread love and reduce anxiety. While most people think of dogs as therapy pets, cats are becoming increasingly popular. Who can resist a purr-fect distraction as you wait for your plane to board?”
BFTB NETWoof News dogs reporting on possums

Pierre: “Sometimes people pass judgment on others without giving them a chance to prove their worth. That often happens to animals that humans don’t perceive as cute and cuddly such as the opossum. While it is true they enjoy rummaging through the garbage cans and playing dead in the middle of the road, opossums do a lot of good things too.
Did you know that opossums can eat up to 5,000 ticks annually? You can count on them to rid your yard of pests like rodents, slugs, and other insects. They are also the only known North American marsupial which means they carry their offspring in their pouch. No matter what you’ve heard, they are largely immune to rabies as well as bites from rattlesnakes and cottonmouth snakes.
Next time you see an opossum, try to cut it some slack. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and when you take the time to really see them, they are kind of cute.”
BFTB NETWoof News dogs report on + BlogPaws
Bentley: “As most of you know, we love and have been members of the BlogPaws® community for several years so we are super excited that two of our favorite groups are joining forces! acquired BlogPaws to make it a force to be reckoned with! We look forward to discovering how this will affect both businesses but truly believe it will be amazing!
We wish that we could attend this year’s BlogPaws conference but since we just moved and have way too much on our plates, we will have to look forward to following everyone on social media and plan on making next year’s big event. If you are going to Kansas City for the 10th anniversary BlogPaws conference, please let us know so we can live vicariously through you!
In the meantime, let’s check in with the BFTB’s pawsome Weather Lab Paisley for this week’s forecast.”
Chocolate Lab reporting the weather
Paisley the Weather Lab: “It will be difficult for some of our friends in the north and northeast to believe but spring officially begins tomorrow, March 20. They are still experiencing winter precipitation including even more snow! Don’t worry though, warmer temperatures are coming and soon the snow will just be a memory frozen in time. See what I did there? LOL!
The West Coast and the Pacific Northwest will have showers with temperatures in the mid-50’s. Over on the northeast coast, it will be cold with snow flurries possible. That snow will turn to rain on the east coast down through Florida. Here in the south, we are expecting it to be windy but warming up nicely. The center of the United States will be partly cloudy and could see a few showers.
Always stay tuned to your local weather stations for any warnings or updates. We hope that you keep some springtime in your hearts all week no matter what the weather!”
Bentley: “We appreciate you tuning into BFTB NETWoof News and would love for you to share us on your social media.
Don't miss a day on the Bayou this week! We will be discovering some great products and since tomorrow is Mom’s birthday, we will have a fun interview on how it feels to be a gazillion years old.
Have a terrific day and be sure to grab yourself some happy!”

It Takes a Village to Move

It is hard to believe that we have been in our new home a little over a week. Our journey began over a year and a half ago. I haven’t shared too much behind the scenes of selling our home and buying a new one in a different city/state. Now that the dust is settling, I want to thank all the people who helped us get here. Believe me, it takes a village!

Pi Day

Needless to say, the Bayou Boys were NOT happy to discover it was Pi Day instead of Pie Day!
Pi Day is celebrated on 3/14 all over the world.
We believe Pie Day should celebrated be EVERYDAY!

Just What the Doctor Ordered

Dr. Lyon's Hip + Joint disclaimer
We were recently selected by to review
Dr. Lyon’s Hip + Joint Support. This advanced strength supplement is perfect for any size dog. Bentley and Pierre are completely different in size and activity levels but I’m concerned about both of their hips and joints. Next month both Bayou Boys will be considered seniors although you couldn’t tell by watching them! It is very important that I keep them healthy and mobile to avoid stiff joints.

Pierre Westie: “Everyone knows that a dog can cheer humans up when they are feeling sad. It seems instinctual for us to know when you need some extra love or a puppy dog smile. That is exactly what happened at an airport with Cora the Corgi.

Howdy Podnuhs

Howdy y’all! The Barking from the Bayou gang are official Texans and could not be happier. We’re unboxing everything we spent the past few months packing but it is beginning to feel like home. Bentley and Pierre are settling in as they recognize familiar furniture and their things. They have been exploring the rooms and getting lots of smell action in the yard. I have much more to tell you but need to get back to discovering what’s in all of these boxes!
We will be back to full-time blogging next Monday but stop by for some fun the rest of this week!
Now, get along little doggies and kitties! LOL!
