Feelin' Friday

Well, it seems that I blinked, and another week has flown by. Can you believe next week is Thanksgiving?
We are finishing our week by joining some friends for their blog hops. You can click on the host's names and check out the other fun bloggers that are on each hop.

We are joining 15 and Meowing along with Four-Legged Furballs for Friendly Fill-Ins. Be sure to hop over and visit everyone participating.
I can’t wait to have my husband’s cornbread dressing on Thanksgiving. (For those not from the south, that’s stuffing but doesn’t go inside the turkey)
• I am thankful for my family.
• When it comes to pie, it’s pumpkin all the way!
• A feast is not a feast without baked rolls.

It’s time to get back to nature with Miss Rosy and her brothers Arty & Jakey from LLB in Our Backyard for Nature Friday.
This photo is from our Alaskan cruise. It was taken in the Tracy Arm Fjord about 45 miles south of Juneau. It is truly one of the most magnificent places I've ever seen.

You probably recognize this bridge from countless movies and television shows. It is the Bow Bridge in Central Park. We walk through the park each time we visit my mom and brother. There is always something interesting to see.

We Messed Up!

Me: “Bentley…Pierre…Come here quick! We made a BIG mistake and have to correct it right away.”
Bentley: “OMD! What happened. Let me just say that I’m sure I didn’t do anything wrong. It must have been you and Pierre.”
Pierre: “Hold it right there, Bentley. It wasn’t me. I’m pretty sure that I was not even in the country when whatever happened occurred. There is no need for actual witnesses, is there?”

A Totally Grainless Smorgasbord

Barking from the Bayou received Loving Pets Totally Grainless treats in exchange for an honest review. We only share products that we love and believe our readers will enjoy. Loving Pets and Propel Communications are not responsible for the contents of this article.
The Bayou Boys are huge fans of the Loving Pets® company. They drink their water from a beautiful purple LeBōl bowl and love all the treats they’ve ever sunk their canines into. That is why they were super excited when our new box of Loving Pets Totally Grainless™ goodies arrived for their review.

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and thank you for joining us on BFTB NETWoof News. We have fetched more animal news so let’s check in with Pierre for our top story.”
Photo credit for Star & Elsa
Pierre Westie: “We all know how important organ donors can be in saving a human’s life. Did you know the same can be said for animals? A dog named Star was found three years ago with a litter of thirteen puppies. When they arrived at the vet, it was discovered Star was in kidney failure and having seizures. After a few weeks of medication and love, she bounced back. She along with nine of her puppies survived and were adopted.

• My next dog will be a senior rescue.
• The sound of a dental drill makes me cringe.
• Right now, I am craving shrimp fried rice.

Joking Around on the Bayou

Talking Dog 4 Sale
A guy is driving through town and sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog for Sale."
He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy walks into the backyard and sees an old dog sitting there.
"Do you really talk?" he asks. "Sure do," the hound replies. "Sooo, what's your story?" The guy’s curiosity is peaked.
The dog looks up and says, “Well, I discovered my gift of talking pretty young and I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies eight years running.”

Stress Busters

The first Wednesday in November is National Stress Awareness Day. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, there is no way to avoid stress in life. Let’s face it, adulting can be very hard.
It has been proven that having a dog or cat can be a great stress buster. Being a pet parent does come with stressful situations but for the most part, our furbabies make life better.
How Pets Help Reduce Stress
• Petting a dog or cat can relieve stress by lowering your blood pressure. It helps your body release a relaxation hormone and reduces the levels of a stress hormone.
• Pets help us get more exercise. After all, they can’t walk themselves and somebody has to throw the ball for them.
• Having a pet reduces the stress of loneliness. Living with a dog or cat ensures you have someone to come home to that loves you unconditionally. You’re never alone when you have a pet…especially in the bathroom!
• Pets help you to stay in the present. Stress often occurs when you are worried about an upcoming event or dwelling on the past. Pets live in the moment and help us do the same.
• Our dogs and cats provide a lifetime of laughs! We all know that laughter is the very best medicine.
On a serious note, stress can be a killer. Today is set aside for us to identify and try to reduce some of the things causing stress in our daily lives. Annual physical check-ups are important as we get older. As much as we love and take care of our pets, we must love and take care of ourselves as well.

Our First Starbucks Puppuccino

Bentley Basset Hound: “Oh my dog! Y’all are not going to believe what we discovered the other day.”
Pierre Westie: “It started when Mom and Dad loaded us up in our car kennel and drove us to our favorite walking path. The day was perfect with temperatures nice and comfy for a long walk.”

Bentley: “We got back in the car and instead of going home, they went to get a frappuccino from Starbucks. This time though, they ordered something called a puppuccino. It sounded like something we might enjoy.”

BFTB NETWoof News November 5, 2018

Bentley Basset Hound: “Hello and welcome to our first BFTB NETWoof News of November. I know we’ve said before, but WOW! October was gone in a wink. This is the month to give thanks, so we want to start off by saying how thankful we are that you join us each week. Let’s get to our top story from my co-anchor Pierre.”
BFTB NETWoof News with two dogs reporting
Pierre Westie: “We all know that a dog’s nose is second to none when it comes to sniffing out trouble. British entomologist, Steve Lindsay noticed the sniffer dogs at an American airport looking for fruits or vegetables coming into the country. He studies malaria and decided it was worth a try to train dogs to sniff out malaria and help combat its spread.

Glow Dog Glow

If you live where daylight savings time is a thing that happens twice each year, then you know we “fall back” this weekend. That means our daylight is very limited. If you work a 9-to-5 job, chances are you are going to work at the crack of dawn and coming home at dusk. Ugh!
*We received two illumiseen collars and leashes in exchange for our honest opinion. Illumiseen is not responsible for the contents of this article. We are sharing information on these products because they may benefit our readers.
Charging illumiseen collar with USB port on laptop
Walking your dog is still important and whether you walk them before work or after, it is going to be dark. That’s why I am so excited about the illumiseen™ collars and leashes. When you turn on the LED battery-powered light the collar emits a bright glow. Drivers or other walkers will see you and your dog well in advance. No more worrying about losing sight of your dog when they go out in the backyard after dark. Plus, the Bayou Boys look super cool in the yard with their collars aglow.

The Hardest Goodbye

There is never a good time to say goodbye to someone you love. On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 we lost one of our best blogging friends. Our hearts are broken. Emma from My GBGV Life passed away in her mom’s arms after a very sudden illness. Words can’t ease the pain of those she left behind. We loved Emma and it was so much fun for Bentley to have the most beautiful girlfriend in Blogville. Emma and her mom were one of our first friends when we started blogging. We got to know them in real life at two BlogPaws conferences. She was a true rock star in the world of pet blogging. This loss just hits too dang close to home.
