November is National Senior Pet Month and Adopt a Senior Pet Month. This month is set aside to shine a light on older dogs and cats that are often abandoned and then overlooked for adoption. That is such a shame because senior pets rock!
The Bayou Boys are both considered senior dogs. Pierre is 7 years 7 months and Bentley will turn 11 years old in a couple of weeks. Being older dogs has not fazed them at all. They still play, run, and wrestle like when they were young. I am very thankful for my senior boys.
5 Reasons to be Thankful for Senior Pets
• Senior dogs are full grown. No surprises!
• Most senior cats and dogs are house-trained.
• If you are fortunate enough to share your life with a senior dog, you will never have a more faithful friend.
• Their faces might be white but their hearts are pure gold.

Beautifully written! We love our Seniors!
ReplyDeleteWell said! Seniors rock!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time in ages, mom says we don't have any seniors. It is kind of odd, for her, but she doesn't mind. Seniors are awesome I guess. In a few years Bailie will be a senior, but being so immature, it might be a different kind of senior! Madison
ReplyDeleteAge is just a number and FYI Pierre 7 is my favorite number.
ReplyDeleteBentley Angel Madi would agree about seizing your glee for life.
Two lucky seniors!!

We fostered a senior cocker spaniel once. His owner had died and his brother was adopted quickly, leaving him all alone. He was a sweetie, but couldn't deal with the 4 siblings running around. We found him a forever home with no little kids and he did just fine!
ReplyDeleteWe agree...Age is just a number! Jakey may be 12, but he acts like a puppy sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWe're all seniors here...and those are great reasons for adopting senior pets. We wish more people would consider seniors when adopting.
ReplyDeleteThis was such a beautiful post. We always love seeing senior pets still have fun and running around like they are still young little ones. Pierre and Bentley are such gorgeous little ones, and we hope that you all have a wonderful time together. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Ma says I'm a senior, butts I don't believes her. I do thinks she lies...A LOT! I don't feel likes a senior, I don't eats like a senior, and I surely don't drink likes a senior! See...liar.
ReplyDeleteAnyhu, I thank you boys for promoting adopting senior pets! Ma says they are SO much easier to take care of, and don't needs as much watchin' over...(that doesn't include me, apparently....)
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
