Is it Friday already?

Do the weeks seem to be getting shorter?  Trying to grasp each day is like trying to catch a flea…you reach to grab Tuesday and come back with Friday pinched between your fingers!  I haven’t done half of the things I had planned for the week.  This is the condensed version of what we’ve been doing in Bayou country.

We received our Pet Box this week and it was wonderful.  Every item we ordered was a hit with Bentley and Pierre.  My intention was to use my newly discovered Windows Movie Maker and make one of those adorable videos.  You know the ones that I’m talking about, worthy of Best Director at the Academy Awards.  I used my phone to video the boys discovering the box, the big opening, the joy, and excitement.  My husband manned the camera taking different shots of the action.  You can see the photos on last Monday’s post.
Hmmm, where’s the video?  That’s a good and fair question.  I spent hours editing, writing captions, and selecting music.  I’d never mixed still photos and videos so I did quite a lot of time clicking the “go back and undo” icon.  After a Steven Spielberg-ion attempt, I was finally satisfied.  I had my blog written and was ready to insert my new masterpiece.  Then I watched the downloading button blink for an eternity.  I tried a variety of tricks to get it to work but Blogger stubbornly refused.  I have never posted on YouTube before and had no idea where to start.  I decided to just post pictures and hold the film in the vault for now.  I thought it turned out pretty good, but Mr. Spielberg has nothing to worry about from me!
Bentley Basset in a Mardi Gras cape.
I mentioned the other day that it’s almost time for annual Barkus & Meoux Mardi Gras Pet Parade.  Last year’s costumes were easy since I dressed them in the costumes described in my book.  Tucker wore a clown suit with neck ruffles; Bentley wore a Mardi Gras hat with a white sequined cape ala Elvis.  Pierre wore a tight black tank top with “Pierre Nation” emblazoned in diamonds.  This year I am having a hard time making a decision.  I want to make Pierre a tulle collar in green, purple and gold.  I am still trying to dream something cool for Bentley.  He is so low to the ground that it has to be something he won’t trip over when he walks.  If anyone has a great Basset Hound costume idea, please let me know.
We had a great time at the BlogPaws Twitter chat on Tuesday night.  There were prizes from Hills’ Pet along with a chance to meet new BlogPaws Twitter friends.  At one time, the chat was trending right below the State of the Union address.  That is incredible plus our chat didn’t have any growling or snapping at one another.  If you haven’t joined in one of the chats, you should mark it on your calendar.  They are fast-paced but if you follow a few conversations, it is much easier.

In spite of the video, futile costume search, and the days racing by, I did mark two items off my “Must Do” list.  I kicked off my first Rafflecopter contest to win The Returns Awesome Prize Package.  If you haven’t entered, just go to the tab at the top of the page.  There is no test to take so don’t worry, it’s easy to enter.
The other thing I did was make a dog quote photo to put on Pinterest.  Let me know what you think.

That’s what been happening around my house this week.  I hope you enjoyed your week and have a fabulous football weekend!

  1. Do you have a youtube channel? You should have a youtube channel where you can keep all your videos for fans to watch. If you don't like youtube, you can get a free vimeo account. We have both but are only using youtube for seo reasons. Once you have a youtube or vimeo channel, it is a cinch to upload a video and grab the embed code. Videos are hard we find. It takes a lot of time and is often not the result we wanted, but practice makes perfect!

  3. What a great quote Bentley. I'm with you on where does the time go. Using youtube is super easy, just register for an account and it the upload button and away you go. Once your signed into youtube you might be able to upload right from your movie maker program, if not then save the movie into a video file as a .mpg format and then go to youtube and click upload and find it on your computer. Easy, you can do it.
